“Look, my first injury. Don#39;t ask how it happened,” the former talk show host, 42, Tweeted, along with a picture of a large bruise and cut on her shin. Ricki Lake, who said upon being cast that she was terrified to participate in the show, is the first cast member to reveal an injury before the 13th season starts on Sept.19. She#39;s wearing her dancing injuries with pride. Ricki Lake suffered a nasty bruise on her shin Thursday while rehearsing for Dancing with the Stars with her dance pa
The headline above is, admittedly, a bit misleading. Ricki Lake suffered a cut and a nasty bruise on her shin Thursday while rehearsing for the new season of Dancing with the Stars with partner Derek Hough. She’s not out of the competition by any means, but she did Tweet a photo of the wound, so … here we are. Check out the season’s first battle scar: Lake, who said upon being cast that she was terrified to participate in the ABC show, is considered one of the favorites going in … or at least was. Who knows if this will throw her off her game. An ambulance was called, but Lake downplayed the situation, Tweeting: “Not sure how my bruise turned into a medic showing up? I’m fine!! :)” Later, she Tweeted at former DWTS star Kirstie Alley, who was a hit last season: “I’ve got my work cut out for me. Channeling ya’ mama. xo”. Who will win Dancing With the Stars , which begins September 19? Lake? Chaz Bono ? Kristin Cavallari? Vote in our survey after the jump …
Chaz Bono is under immense scrutiny and pressure as he preps for a stint on Dancing With the Stars, but is all smiles in a just-released promotional pic from ABC, his arm wrapped around bona fide cutie partner Lacey Schwimmer. Hey, as a newly-minted straight man, life could be a lot worse. Watch out, Jennifer Ella . Just kidding. Chaz’s fiancee has nothing to worry about … probably. Here’s Chaz Bono and Lacey, Kristin Cavallari and Mark Ballas, and the rest of the Dancing With the Stars pairing. Click to enlarge and vote in our poll: Who will win Dancing With the Stars?
It’s that time of the year. Dancing with the Stars has begun rehearsals with their new cast of dancers. We caught up to some of them outside of the studio.
While fans continue to debate the merits of including Chaz Bono on the new season of Dancing with the Stars , ABC revealed the amateur/professional pairing on Good Morning America today. They are… Elisabetta Canalis and Valentin Chmerkovskiy Ron Artest and Peta Murgatroyd Bono and Lacey Schwimmer Kristin Cavallari and Mark Ballas Robert Kardashian and Cheryl Burke Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya Ricki Lake and Derek Hough J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovolani Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus Do these tandems change your vote? Who do you think will win?
The cast for this year’s edition of Dancing with the Stars has been announced, and while there’s no Karina Smirnoff or Holly Madison hoofing it this season, the lineup is by no means skin-free. The big news is that the Artist Formerly Known as Chastity (aka Chaz) Bono will be dancing as a man, leading a motley crew that includes a TV talking head, the “Phillips” portion of Wilson Phillips, a Playboy model, two pro athletes, and reality stars past and present. Yeah, yeah, but who’s the most likely to have a Monique Coleman moment, you ask? Find out after the jump!

Chaz Bono’s joining the Dancing With the Stars cast gave the show major publicity, but it wasn’t just done as a stunt or a favor to the LGBT community. Based on what we know of past seasons and those who have made long runs on the show, Chaz – if he can dance at all – could be among the favorites. Below, THG breaks down the prospects for the man formerly known as Chastity Bono (with girlfriend Jennifer Ella, below) and the rest of the dancers … Favorites: David Arquette, Chaz Bono, Ron Artest, Hope Solo, Ricki Lake If anyone has the notoriety that they can utilize to gain interest and build fan support, it’s Bono, who will be paired with a female professional dancer. David Arquette is probably the show’s second biggest “get,” especially after his separation from wife Courteney Cox and subsequent bizarre behavior. We don’t know if either one can dance, admittedly. But assuming there’s any kind of rhythm there, each could go on fairly sustained runs this fall. As for Ron Artest (the player soon to be known as Metta World Peace), pro athletes tend to do well, and Ron is very likable beneath the crazy exterior. Ditto for U.S. World Cup soccer goalie Solo. Ricki Lake, meanwhile, fits the Jennifer Grey mold, having starred in a dance-themed cult classic film. Underdogs: Nancy Grace, Rob Kardashian We could well be proven wrong here, but these would be our picks to go home first. Nancy Grace is a polarizing figure and likely won’t change that. As for Kardashian, DWTS is not necessarily kind to reality stars. The fan base is a little different, so he’s likely coming in as one of the lesser-knowns. Plus, even those that love the Kardashians kind of hate the Kardashians. Dark Horses: Chynna Phillips, Kristin Cavallari, Elisabetta Canalis Phillips has a fan base from her music and acting, even if each is a bit dated. Canalis is George Clooney’s ex . That’ll have people curious for sure. Cavallari could be a bust or the real deal. Remember Audrina Patridge? She finished fifth her season and was totally robbed from advancing further. Kristin’s pretty, sassy and could build some strong support. Maybe. Wild Cards: J.R. Martinez, Carson Kressley Martinez, the actor and Iraq War veteran whose body was 40 percent burned after a landmine explosion, will touch more hearts every week he lasts. The question is whether he can do well enough to get through the first few weeks where he may be the cast’s least-known member. Total wild card. Finally, Carson Kressley of Queer Eye For the Straight Guy . He’s fallen off the radar a bit in recent years, but still has a loyal following. How loyal? Stay tuned. This is just THG’s take. Now tell us yours: Who do you think will win DWTS Season 13? Vote!
Ricki Lake felt “gratitude and blessings” nobody was hurt in a house fire that ruined her $20,000-a-month Malibu rental property last fall. Unfortunately, there are still legal repercussions. Now she’s feeling the heat from a lawsuit filed by her landlord alleging that the talk show host negligently set the fire by improperly refilling oil into a portable space heater. “[Lake] caused the oil to spill which was ignited by the hot heating coils which [Lake] had not allowed to cool,” says the plaintiff in the lawsuit . “The flaming oil quickly caught hold and began to burn items inside the property. [Lake] failed or did not attempt to extinguish the fire.” The lawsuit was filed June 6 and seeks unspecified damages. [Photo: WENN.com]
