Kelly Clarkson ‘Stalking’ Adele For A Duet

‘I’ve been trying to sing with her for a while,’ Clarkson tells MTV News. By Christina Garibaldi Kelly Clarkson Photo: MTV News Kelly Clarkson doesn’t mind a little friendly competition. The former “American Idol” winner recently told MTV News she didn’t care if Coldplay “killed” her on the Billboard albums chart (her latest, Stronger, came in second, selling 163,000 to Mylo Xyloto ‘s 447,000). Clarkson might not give a second thought to chart placement, but what does she think about all these other pop divas who have taken over the airwaves? “I always think it’s healthy to have a lot of stuff out there, and there’s room for everybody, because everybody is so different, especially all the women right now in the industry,” Clarkson told MTV News. “We’re all very different from each other, which I think is good. It keeps it not boring.” We have to agree: The “Mr. Know It All” singer is anything but boring, recently telling the U.K.’s Guardian : “I want to punch Adele in the face! She is just too good.” Of course, she was kidding. “That’s a term of endearment for me,” Clarkson laughed. “I think maybe overseas that didn’t read well. I meant more to be funny. She’s just so talented; she’s just so ridiculous it’s upsetting.” Adele — who, like Clarkson, is known for her emotional songs about love and heartbreak — is set to undergo surgery to treat her vocal issues, but when she recovers, we have an idea who might want to work with her. “I’m stalking her currently through interviews. Every interview, they are like, ‘Who do you want to work with?’ ‘Adele! I want to do a duet with Adele!’ ” Clarkson said. “I’ve been stalking her since we did ‘[VH1] Divas’ together, actually, and we were supposed to sing together, and then they changed the concept to where we would sing with somebody from a different generation. That was actually really cool, because I got to sing with Melissa Etheridge , and she’s amazing. That wasn’t like a letdown or anything, but I’ve been trying to sing with [Adele] for a while.” Clarkson will be returning to the “VH1 Divas” alongside Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Florence and the Machine, Jessie J and Jennifer Hudson . “I always think competition is healthy, it’s good. Even, like, Jennifer Hudson — let’s say that people that are fans of her don’t know me very well; they’ll tune into ‘VH1 Divas’ or something and be like, ‘Oh, I didn’t know I’d like her,’ ” Clarkson said. “VH1 Divas” premieres December 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Shawty Redd Cleared Of Murder Charges

Rap producer was charged in the fatal shooting of Damon Martin. By Rob Markman Shawty Redd in police custody on January 1, 2010 Photo: Henry County Sheriff’s Office Rap producer Shawty Redd can now put his legal troubles behind him. MTV News learned exclusively from Redd’s attorney Ashutosh Joshi on Thursday (November 3) that the Atlanta hitmaker has been found not guilty of murder, as well as lesser charges he was hit with after the fatal 2010 New Year’s Day shooting of Damon Martin. The bench trial, which began Monday, was decided by a judge without a jury and concluded Wednesday. On Thursday, Judge Wade Crumbly cleared the “Who Dat” producer (real name: Demetrius Lee Stewart) on all charges relating to Martin’s death. Redd was arrested January 1, 2010, after police responded to a call about an early morning shooting at Stewart’s home in Hampton, Georgia. According to police, the producer was involved in a physical altercation at his home with Martin, who was described as an “acquaintance.” The confrontation turned physical and Stewart shot and killed Martin, according to the report. Stewart himself called 911 to alert police about the shooting and was arrested a few hours later. “The defense [in the trial] was clearly self-defense,” Joshi told MTV News. “We argued that Redd’s life was threatened both verbally and physically, and this occurred in his home and that he shot this gentleman as a result of that.” Shawty Redd got his start producing a number of underground tracks for Young Jeezy, as well as six tracks from his platinum debut Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101. He got the most attention working with Snopp Dogg on his 2008 single “Sexual Eruption” and has also worked with Gucci Mane, Pusha T and Rick Ross. Related Artists Shawty Redd

The clip closes with the message: “God speaks in the silence of the heart. Listening is the beginning of prayer.” Bieber seems happy with the results. “So proud of this song and this video,” he tweeted . “I sing this one from the heart.” The clip certainly fits with the tune’s heartening theme and message, which was inspired by the King of Pop himself. “It’s a very uplifting song, very motivational. It definitely comes from the heart. It’s very beautiful,” Bieber explained recently in a radio interview with Ryan Seacrest. “I definitely thought of Michael [Jackson’s] ‘Man in the Mirror’ when I was writing it.” Bieber is donating part of the proceeds from his My Worlds Acoustic album to the Children’s Miracle Network. “I am in the position to give back thanks to my fans and God,” he said in a press release . “I wrote ‘Pray’ thinking I wanted to help others and I feel like I have a responsibility to do so. This album is a gift to my fans and the money raised from it allows us all to help out.” What do you think of Justin’s new video? Tell us in the comments. Snoop Dogg Says ‘Wet’ Is A Gift For Prince William

Rapper dedicates new single to the recently engaged prince, is reportedly being courted to play Will’s bachelor party. By Gil Kaufman Cover art for Snoop Dogg’s “Wet” Photo: EMI/ Priority Records There was a time not too long ago when Snoop Dogg was persona non grata in England because of a little airport scuffle he had back in 2007. Well, the ban has since been lifted, and now the Doggfather could be all the way back in on the British isles thanks to a track he’s recorded in honor of Prince William’s upcoming bachelor party. England’s Daily Mirror reports that William’s younger brother, Prince Harry, is trying to lock down Snoop and UK rapper Tinie Tempah to perform at the upcoming stag party for Will, who announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton last week. Snoop didn’t waste any time in stepping up to the plate, dropping the song “Wet” on Tuesday as his gift to William. The racy tune, which the rapper says is a sequel of sorts to his funktastic 2008 hit “Sexual Eruption,” was produced by the Cataracs, best known for their work on the Far East Movement smash “Like a G6.” “When I heard the royal family wanted to have me perform in celebration of Prince William’s marriage, I knew I had to give them a little something,” Snoop wrote in a statement announcing his gift to the Prince. “‘Wet’ is the perfect anthem for Prince William or any playa to get the club smokin’.” To be fair, the song was already slated to be featured on Snoop’s upcoming album, Doggumentary Music album, but it’s a nice gesture anyway. While it’s unlikely that the royal family will embrace the slinky, bass-thumping ode to oral sex, the track is classic Snoop seduction. “Can you be my doctor?/ Can you fix me up?/ Can you wipe me down?/ So I can lick you up,” Snoop raps in an echo-laden, psychedelic drawl in one of the only PG-13 lyrics on a decidedly R-rated track. The song can be heard now at Snoop’s official website . So is “Wet” fit for a (future) king? Tell us what you think of the tune in the comments. Related Photos Welcome To The Royal Family, Kate!
