Get Well Soon: Chicago Rapper King Louie Shot In The Head

Smh… stop the violence King Louie Shot In The Head King Louie, a Chicago rapper who coined the term Chiraq, is in recovery this morning after being shot in the head. The Chicago Sun Times reports: Chicago rapper King Louie was shot in the head Wednesday afternoon in the Ashburn neighborhood on the Southwest Side, his management team confirmed. The rapper — whose real name is Louis Johnson Jr. — was shot while in a vehicle in the 3900 block of West 83rd Street about 3:30 p.m., according to his management and Chicago Police. A representative from his management team said he was “awake and talking.” Further details were not immediately available. King Louie, 27, coined the term “Chiraq” in 2009 and is also credited with the creation of “Drillinois,” a term that plays off the hip-hop genre of “Drill” that he and other Chicago rappers, including Chief Keef, Lil Reese, Lil Durk and G Herbo helped popularize. “I called it Chiraq, but I wasn’t caring about the Chiraq part. I was caring about the Drillinois part; I was caring about the drill movement,” King Louie told the Chicago Sun-Times in 2014. King Louie released a song on Dec. 4 titled “F— Spike Lee,” the same day the New York director’s film “Chi-Raq” premiered in theaters. Sheesh, get well soon Louie. Continue reading

Pink Slippin’: Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy Dimissed After Laquan McDonald Footage Release

Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy Fired By Mayor Rahm Emanuel The citizens of Chicago have suffered for years under the lack of leadership from their former police superintendent, Garry McCarthy. While the public trust has been eroding for quite some time, the release of dashcam footage of the murder of Laquan McDonald was the blood-soaked straw that broke the Chicagoan camel’s back. According to the Chicago-Tribune , Mayor Rahm Emanuel had to take action… Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Tuesday announced he has dismissed Chicago police Superintendent Garry McCarthy, citing a lack of public trust in the police leadership in the wake of the high-profile shooting that eventually led to a white officer being charged with first-degree murder in the death of a black teen shot 16 times in a Southwest Side street last year. “Superintendent McCarthy knows that a police officer is only as effective as when he has the trust of those he serves,” Emanuel said at a City Hall news conference where he appointed a task force to look at police accountability. Emanuel said he and McCarthy on Sunday began discussing the future of the Police Department and “the undeniable fact that the public trust in the leadership of the department has been shaken and eroded.” “This morning, I formally asked for his resignation,” said Emanuel, who said McCarthy can be proud of his record. “Now is the time for fresh eyes and new leadership to confront the challenges the department and our community and our city are facing as we go forward.” Mayor Emanuel says that there will be a “thorough” search for a new superintendent who is capable of rebuilding the trust of the people. Psycho: Schultz Wants Troops Withdrawn From Iraq Sent Into Chicago

Can you imagine the cries of police state, racism, incipient fascism and fill-in-your-favorite-epithet if a conservative pundit—let alone a Republican president—proposed the massive insertion of US military forces into American inner cities for law enforcement purposes? But that’s precisely what Ed Schultz proposed on his MSNBC show this evening. Ed is apparently unaware that the use of the military for such law-enforcement purposes would raise serious issues under the Posse Comitatus Act.  But beyond that, it would utterly distort the mission of our military, and provoke valid civil-liberty concerns.  Schultz should try bouncing his brainstorm off the Joint Chiefs and see what kind of reception it receives.   But hey, Ed announced on this evening’s show that he will be part of a Big Labor march on Washington in DC in October.  Let that be a Dem pre-election theme: troops into Chicago! Here’s Ed at his detached-from-reality best . . . ED SCHULTZ: I woke up in Chicago, on my way to the Midwest, to a couple of truly disturbing headlines.  In Chicago, in the Tribune, front page of the Tribune, here it is [holds up paper]: 4 Killed in Southwest Side Garage Shooting. And the Sun-Times: Put the Guns Down.  This is what a gang leader says to his folks. More Americans were killed in Chicago last month than were killed in Iraq all year. Mr. President, I got a great idea as to where you can send those troops that you just brought home from Iraq.  How about Chicago, Illinois and a bunch of other big cities in this country?   It’s time we look out for our own backyard.
