Strap, a member of the ATL rap trio, was caught with a firearm at Hartsfield-Jackson, an airport official confirms to MTV News. By Rob Markman Strap Photo: Dave Kotinsky/ Getty Images Travis Porter aren’t known for making gangsta music, but that reputation just might change. MTV News has confirmed that group member Strap was arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Wednesday morning (February 15) for trying to clear security with a firearm. A Hartsfield-Jackson official indentified the arrested individual as Harold Duncan (Strap’s birth name) and confirmed that he was arrested at the airport and has since been transferred to Clayton County jail in Jonesboro, Georgia. The trio — Ali, Quez and Strap — have been a staple on the Atlanta rap scene for a number of years. They first gained notoriety after appearing on Roscoe Dash’s 2008 hit “All the Way Turnt Up,” and in 2010, the guys broke through off the strength of their strip-club anthem “Make It Rain.” The song peaked at #9 on the Billboard Rap charts and piqued interest for the group’s oft-delayed debut album on RCA Records. The group finished in the top five on MTV News’ 2010 “Hottest Breakthrough MC” fan poll. (The award eventually went to Wiz Khalifa .) Battling album delays, Travis Porter continue to release singles. Their 2011 track “Bring it Back” features Oakland rap legend Too $hort and appears on the group’s mixtape Music, Money, Magnums. TP’s latest single, “Ayy Ladies,” features Young Money’s Tyga. Earlier today, Travis Porter dropped a preview clip for the video on YouTube, and the behind-the-scenes video features Chris Brown and Meek Mill. Jay-Z And Pharrell Working On Something ‘Crazy’

‘I’m just a filmmaker, musically. I let everybody else play the roles,’ P tells MTV News of his studio relationship with Jay. By Rob Markman Pharrell All it takes is a hint of a new Jay-Z album to get hip-hop fans into a frenzy. In December, Hovito said we might get a solo LP from him and a second Throne album in 2012 . There hasn’t been any talk since, but when MTV News caught up with Pharrell earlier this month, we had to ask if that’s still the plan. “We’re working on something, it’s crazy,” Skateboard P said after a long pause. The Neptunes producer contributed “Gotta Have It” to last year’s Watch the Throne album and also laid the beat for Jay’s Blue Ivy dedication, “Glory.” Through the years, Jigga has logged a ton of time with the Neptunes captain, starting with 2000’s “I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me).” Since then, Hov and P have hooked up on a number of notable tracks, including “Excuse Me Miss” from 2002’s The Blueprint 2 LP and the Neptunes’ 2003 hit “Frontin’.” “We — I say ‘we’ because I’m in Throne mode — we’re in a great place creatively,” Jay said of his and Kanye West’s chemistry. “You might see a Jay, then Kanye and a Throne album next year. You know, we’re really in a great place creatively. We really found our zone.” With things still in the works, Pharrell is reluctant to let go of any info. Instead, he’d rather just let Jay speak on things when he is ready. “Well, you know, he’s very discreet about details and stuff,” P said. “I’m just a filmmaker, musically. I let everybody else play the roles.” What do you think of Jay-Z and Pharrell’s chemistry in the studio? Tell us in the comments! Related Artists Jay-Z Pharrell Williams

Guru Memorial Concert Should Involve DJ Premier, Solar Says

‘It couldn’t be [a tribute] without them,’ he tells MTV News, despite tensions between the two. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Sway Calloway Solar Photo: MTV News Although tensions between Solar and DJ Premier remain high, the controversial producer said he would like to reach out to the Gang Starr member to join him for a memorial concert he’s planning for Guru later this year. “Not only Premier, but the whole Gang Starr Foundation — everybody, for sure,” Solar told MTV News. “It couldn’t be [a tribute] without them. Plus, the list of artists Guru and I have already compiled that would go with it, that would be brilliant.” Solar said he and Guru had long planned to host an event, whether he recovered from his health issues or not. Since the Gang Starr rapper died last week , though, Solar has been vilified by fans for releasing a farewell letter purportedly written by Guru. In the controversial message, Guru assailed Premier and only referred to his groupmate as his “former DJ.” Solar denied claims that he wrote the letter, but Premier remains skeptical . Premier released his own statement following Guru’s death, a touching memorial to his friend. During a radio “salute” to his fallen Gang Starr cohort, Premier repeatedly disparaged Solar, writing him off as a jealous opportunist. Solar, for his part, stands by Guru’s authorship of the letter, yet he distanced himself from the remarks and said he now has to make the best decisions for the current situation. “At the end of the day, Guru’s statement is Guru’s statement, and that’s Guru,” he said. “I’m my own man, just like he was his own man. I have to make decisions as life goes on that’s beneficial to all involved. I haven’t had a chance to sit down with DJ Premier. Hopefully now will be the time, in the near future, even on this particular matter, and speak on things. It’s my intention that everybody understand I foster the concepts of peace and harmony. And I believe as time goes on and feelings settle that this will happen. And willfully, this benefit concert will be one way of speeding that along.” Share your memories of Guru and Gang Starr in the comments below.
