Israel Keyes’ handwritten notes, found under his body after the serial killer took his own life in an Alaska jail, have been released, according to the FBI. The agency said the handwritten notes from Keyes offer no clues about his heinous crimes, such as the names of additional victims, however. The notes were found on legal paper underneath Keyes, who slit his wrist December 2 with the blade of a disposable razor embedded in a pencil. He also had strangled himself with a bed sheet. Keyes’ writings were on a yellow legal pad, FBI special agent Mary Rook said in a statement, and were too bloody to read clearly, at least initially. They were sent to the FBI laboratory in Virginia and restored. The FBI determined Keyes left behind no code or hidden message in the writings, and officials would offer no commentary on the meaning of the writings. They include some disturbing poetry about violence and deception. “You may have been free, you loved living your lie, fate had its own scheme, crushed like a bug you still die,” the notes said, referring to … who knows.
