While the media’s attention was focused on the Sony hacking scandal , a far less noteworthy cyber-theft took place last week. Tracks from Madonna’s new album were leaked online, and as you might have guessed, the Internet responded with a collective shrug. But despite – or perhaps because of – the fact that the world cared as little about the leak as it would about a legitimate release from Madonna, the hot-headed pop queen went off on Instagram in a seething tirade that’s since been deleted: “This is artistic rape!!” wrote Madge. “This is a form of terrorism. WTF!!! Why do people want to destroy the artistic process???” “Why steal? Why not give me the best opportunity to finish and give you my very best?” Later – in equally over-the-top fashion – she offered her praise to fans who opted not to listen to the leaked songs. Yes, comparing the theft of a few songs to rape and terrorism might seem a bit extreme, but it’s exactly the type of attention-seeking behavior we’ve come to expect from Madonna – a woman who seems become more dramatic with each passing year.
