Source: athima tongloom / Getty Cobb County is joining Gwinnett County as the latest Georgia jurisdiction to suspend enforcement of some misdemeanor marijuana violations. The reason? The state’s new hemp law. Gov. Brian Kemp legalized hemp farming in Georga. The hardy, versatile corp has been prompted by some as an economic development opportunity for rural areas. Hemp and marijuana are closely related and similar in smell and appearance, making it very difficult if not impossible for law enforcement to tell the difference between the two, according to officials. In light of that fact, Cobb County Police Chief Tim Cox announced that his department would make “a temporary procedural change” until a “remedy” is found. “After discussions with prosecutors, it appears that arresting someone for misdemeanor marijuana possession is not recommended,” Cox said in a statement. “As a result, effective immediately, any misdemeanor amounts of marijuana that an officer encounters will be confiscated and sent to the Evidence Unit to be destroyed. A criminal charge will not be made until a solution can be found to this dilemma.” Cobb Solicitor General Barry Morgan said there will be no wholesale dismissal of cases that are already on-going, but new cases brought after the hemp bill was signed this past May will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. “The GBI has told us they are working on finding a new test that could differentiate marijuana from hemp and cases will be held pending that,” Morgan said. Minnie Lindsey sued Rocko – whose real name is Rodney Hill – for negligence last month, accusing the U.O.E.N.O. rapper of abandoning a construction job on the property next door to hers – but not before causing some $15,000 in damages to her place. According to court papers obtained by BOSSIP, Lindsey said that Rocko bought the property next to hers in 2017 and started construction on it. However work stopped about a month later, and Lindsey noticed that her brick retaining wall was removed without her permission. Lindsey’s wall had been securing her property’s fence, and it has since caved in, court papers state. Without the fence, Lindsey’s home garden is eroding, Lindsey’s lawyer, Jenaye Peterson, told BOSSIP. Rocko acquired the previously abandoned property to try to flip it, but may have run out of money for the renovation, Peterson said, adding that she sent him a legal letter, and he responded, promising to fix the wall, but hasn’t. Monica’s son’s father hasn’t responded to the case, probably because Lindsey hasn’t managed to serve him yet. This isn’t the only legal battle that Rocko is fighting. We exclusively revealed that the state Attorney General’s Office sued Rocko on behalf of a woman named Tinashel Phillips over paternity and supporting her daughter. Rocko hasn’t responded in that case either.

According to an article on The Smoking Gun , a woman from the Sunshine State stabbed herself in the stomach repeatedly with a kitchen knife. When police found her she was standing outside of her home, completely covered in blood. When asked what was wrong, the woman lifted her shirt to reveal “three stab wounds on [her] stomach that were still bleeding.” She then told the patrolman she had “stabbed herself because she does not want to live in Trump’s country.” Same, sis. Same. But we’re just not entirely sure that THIS is best way for that frustration to manifest itself. After evaluating the woman, a cop concluded that there was a “substantial likelihood” that she “will cause bodily harm to herself and/or others.” As a result, the officer appears to have recommended that the woman be involuntarily admitted to a mental health treatment facility (per the state’s Baker Act). The woman told police that this isn’t her first Baker Act rodeo. F**k Trump, but we hope she gets the help she needs because this ain’t it.

Positive, if bittersweet, news came last week, as R. Kelly was charged with 11 additional sex crimes . The widely despised rapper is accused of grooming underage girls, having sex with them, and recording sickening videos of his alleged crimes. According to a former employee’s testimony, there are more tapes out there, because they were kept as “trophies.” Horrific. According to TMZ , a former employee of R. Kelly has testified before a grand jury about the disgraced rapper. Within the testimony, he accused Kelly of regularly recording sex with underage girls. He told the grand jury that his former boss kept the recordings as trophies. While testifying in the Northern District of Illinois on Thursday, the ex-employee said that he had, at one time, been in possession of some of these tapes. It is currently believed that a number of these recordings are in the possession of federal law enforcement. As the former employee testified, R. Kelly allegedly offered a sizable sum of cash for one such recording to be returned. (We can read between the lines and gather that there was nervousness about more recordings getting in the hands of prosecutors) It sounds like the employee obliged … yet also, “somehow,” Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx also received a copy. TMZ ‘s sources say tha the testimony mentioned surrendering several additional videos to federal investigators. Said videos are also said to feature minors engaged in sex acts. The testimony is said to have included an open admission that those who worked directly for R. Kelly knew about his alleged fondness for minor girls. Unfortunately, instead of alerting authorities, they are said to have actively helped him. The former employee testified that Kelly’s crew would help him find new underage girls to groom, seduce, and victimize. The reviled rapper’s attorney, Steve Greenberg, didn’t sound shocked or impressed when he spoke to TMZ about the testimony. “This seems to be the same claims that were made in the state case,” Greenberg said. “We will address them in court.” Greenberg is referring to testimony heard by a federal grand jury that was also in Illinois. See, according to a number of alleged victims of R. Kelly, they were transported across state lines while they were in his thrall. To be clear, they told the grand jury that they were underage at the time, and that the transportation was for sexual purposes. As you are likely aware, crossing state lines during the commission of an alleged crime makes it a federal case. But since Kelly is accused of being a prolific predator, the state has plenty of local charges to level at him. There are two additional federal probes into the accusations against R. Kelly. One is in New York’s eastern district. The other is in New York’s southern district. In both cases, it seems very likely that investigators will move forward. The abundance of evidence against Kelly, the number of alleged victims coming forward, and overwhelming public opinion are on their side. It is, of course, cause for celebration that R. Kelly’s alleged reign of terror appears to be at an end. But … we shouldn’t count our eggs before they hatch, right? Kelly has evaded justice for decades. And even if he is convicted and sentenced to a billion years in prison, that victory will be bittersweet. There should not be so many accusers coming forward, or other alleged survivors remaining silent. This should never have happened. Many cannot help but wonder if Kelly’s reported abusive sex cult would have gone on this long if the alleged victims had not been young black girls. View Slideshow: R. More bad news for R. Kelly, as the law continues to close in on the embattled singer and alleged rapist. On Thursday, prosecutors in Cook County, Illinois charged Kelly with 11 sex crimes in addition to the allegations he had previously been fighting. The charges include 4 counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, 2 counts of criminal sexual assault by force, 3 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim between 13 and 16 years old, and 2 are aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Prior to today’s indictments, Kelly was already set to stand trial for a slew of other charges ranging from tax evasion to sex trafficking. One of the accusers identified by her initials in Thursday’s court filing is believed to be a previous alleged victim who has now provided new information to prosecutors. Other charges are believed to be related to previous allegations that Kelly assaulted four girls between the ages of 13 and 16. It’s unknown at this time if any of the allegations are related to a Kelly sex tape which allegedly showed the 52-year-old engaged in sex acts with multiple underage victims. While Kelly himself has yet to comment publicly, a rep for the singer says he is not concerned about today’s developments: “They are old charges. We knew they were coming and this was happening,” said Darrell Johnson. “He’s not going to jail. We don’t have the full details yet as waiting on discovery.” However, an anonymous source closely connected to the case told Radar Online today that this is the latest step forward in prosecutors’ ongoing efforts to ensure that Kelly goes to prison for a very long time. “There are two separate federal grand juries empaneled. Several victims provided testimony to those juries. Mr. Kelly, you must face justice that is long overdue,” said the source While sexual assault allegations against Kelly have been public knowledge for over a decade, public outrage reached an all-time high following the release of the 2018 documentary Surviving R. Kelly . Now, emboldened accusers have banded together to ensure that justice is served. Kelly has remained silent in the public sphere ever since his infamous interview with Gayle King did further damage to his battered public image. “Lots of things wrong when it comes to women that I apologize, but I apologized in those relationships at the time that I was in the relationship, OK?” Kelly told King before suffering a violent emotional breakdown on camera. We’ll have further updates on this developing story as more information becomes available. View Slideshow: R. Kelly Addresses Sex Abuse Accusations in 19-Minute Song
Throughout his decades as one of the biggest movie stars in the world, Johnny Depp has been praised for his chameleon-like ability to completely transform himself from one role to the next. Now, for his final act, Depp has apparently decided to morph from beloved screen idol into broke-ass self-saboteur who may or may not be guilty of viciously bullying the ex-wife he allegedly abused. Let’s back it up a bit to examine how Johnny managed to slice and dice his own public image like Edward Scissorhands with a bad case of the shakes from drinking $30,000 worth of wine a month . When Depp and Amber Heard finalized their divorce , they signed an iron-clad non-disclosure agreement that prevented either of them from speaking about the split publicly. Johnny went and screwed that up by filing a series of lawsuits that required the courts to dredge up all the nasty allegations against him. Most recently, he sued Heard for $50 million for discussing her experiences as an abuse survivor in a recent Washington Post op-ed. His lawyers came out swinging and alleged that Heard tried to cut Depp’s finger off during one particularly nasty fight. Amber’s team fired back with both barrels, leveling allegations both horrific (repeated tales of physical abuse directed at Heard) and hilarious (they claim Depp was so jealous of James Franco that he threw a tantrum for an entire cross-country flight). In addition to his battle against Heard, Depp is still suing his former lawyer Jake Bloom because — get this — Bloom advised Depp to settle with Heard out of court, as a messy court battle would do irreparable damage to his career. Apparently, when you’re rich enough, you can actually sue people for being right. Anyway, that case has also yielded a ton of messy revelations, including an account of Depp attempting to get Heard fired from her role in Aquaman . In her Washington Post piece, Heard claimed that she had been “blacklisted” in Hollywood following her split from Depp: “A movie I was attached to recast my role. I had just shot a two-year campaign as the face of a global fashion brand, and the company dropped me,” she wrote. “Questions arose as to whether I would be able to keep my role of Mera in the movies “Justice League” and “Aquaman.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, lawyers for Bloom intend to prove that Depp was behind that vicious campaign: “Sources familiar with the deposition requests say [Warner Bros. chairman Kevin] Tsujihara will be asked to testify under oath about whether or not he played a role in “blacklisting” Heard at Warner Bros.,” the outlet reports. “Depp, a star in the studio’s Fantastic Beasts franchise (he plays Grindelwald), is alleged to have personally lobbied Tsujihara to remove the actress from Aquaman and block her from getting other projects.” Yes, Bloom plans to get the former president of Warner Bros. — who was himself disgraced in a recent, Wenistein-esque “casting couch” scandal — to verify that Depp tried to destroy Heard’s career. And because we live in supremely f–ked up times, that might actually do more damage to Depp’s career than the allegations that he’s an abusive monster. You can smack around all the actresses you want, but the moment you start messing with studio exec’s and their precious reputations, you’re going down, pal!
