Academy Award-winning director Roman Polanski was arrested in Switzerland, in a U.S. order in connection with his conviction of rape of minors over 30 years.
Roman Polanski fled the United States in 1978 after pleading guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old girl Samantha Geimer, California.
He was accused of giving alcohol and sedatives at Samantha Geimer and performing various sex acts, including intercourse with her during a photo shoot in Los Angeles home of Jack Nicholson.
Nicholson, then-girlfriend, Academy Award-winning actress Anjelica Huston, was in the house at that time.
Polanski, a French citizen, has not returned to the U.S. since then and has asked a judge to dismiss the case against him.
On Saturday, he was on his way to the Zurich Film Festival where she was to receive an honorary award. He was arrested by Swiss authorities on arrival at the airport.
Samantha Geimer, now 45, is married and has three children. Geimer, who received a developer solution has recently asked the expenditure fell, saying that the continued publication of the data “to harm me, my husband and children”.
Polanski, 76, who won an Oscar for directing The Pianist, is married to French actress Emanuelle Seigner, and has two children.
