Despite reports saying that R. Kelly did not have the money to get out of jail, the Associated Press has reported that the singer couldn’t afford the bail, he should be out by tonight. R. Kelly posted bail on Monday afternoon and was released from the Chicago jail where he spent the weekend, officials said. BREAKING: R&B singer R. Among the conditions of release is that Kelly have no contact with females younger than 18. During a hearing earlier Monday, Kelly’s lawyer pleaded not guilty on his behalf to all 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse that he faces. Prosecutors allege that he sexually abused four women, including three who were minors at the time. Kelly has denied the allegations. This is a developing story; please check back for updates. Garth Ancier, an accomplished TV producer who Michael Egan alleges raped him, adamantly denies involvement in the bombshell Hollywood scandal. Ancier’s attorney tells TMZ in a statement following the lawsuit filed this week : “All of the allegations made by [ Michael Egan ] against Garth Ancier are demonstrably untrue, and we are confident the courts will agree when the evidence is presented.” “As just one of many examples, Mr. Ancier has never even visited the estate in Hawaii where the plaintiff claims to have encountered him,” the attorney adds. “Mr. Ancier is grateful to his friends, family and colleagues for their support.” Egan has sued Ancier, as well as X-Men director Bryan Singer and Hollywood moguls David Neuman and Gary Goddard, claiming they sexually abused him. At the time, he was a 15-year-old aspiring actor at Hollywood parties. Egan claims Ancier abused him numerous times by sodomizing him, forcing oral sex and fondling him at an Encino estate when Egan was just 15. Egan also says Ancier sexually abused him in Hawaii two years later. He claims he tried to involve the police regarding the issue but nothing came of it. This is so disgusting and sad. Man Kidnaps Two Brothers And Sexually Abuses Them This coward stole their childhood innocence and deserves to rot in jail. According to NY Daily News: A man lured two brothers, ages 5 and 8, from their yard in south Mississippi and took them to his camper trailer, where he sexually abused them and slashed the older boy’s throat, authorities said Thursday. The 8-year-old boy is hospitalized and is expected to survive the Wednesday attack, said Don Bass, chief deputy with Hancock County sheriff’s office on the Mississippi coast. Bass said the older brother, with his throat cut, escaped the suspect’s trailer Wednesday evening and ran about 500 yards to a neighbor’s house. The neighbor called police. The children were abducted Wednesday afternoon from a residence in Pearl River County and taken to the trailer in rural Hancock County where he sexually abused both boys, Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam said in a news release. Bass identified the suspect as James H. Smith, 41. Smith was released from prison to house arrest in June after serving a few months of a lengthy sentence in a racketeering case involving methamphetamine and assaulting a police officer, according to corrections officials and court records. He was being held on a $3.5 million bond, Bass said. SMH.
The door-knocking in California might be on hiatus for a little while… Judge Rules That Jehovah’s Witness Group Pay $20 Million To Sexually Abused Woman In what both sides described as a momentous ruling, a jury in Oakland, Calif., has found that Jehovah’s Witnesses was partly responsible for the alleged sexual abuse of a girl by one of its members and must pay her more than $20 million. The Alameda County Superior Court jury on Thursday awarded $21 million in punitive damages to the plaintiff, who is now 26 years old. That was on top of the $7 million in compensatory damages it awarded her on Wednesday. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ legal entity, is responsible for the entire punitive damages amount and 40 percent of the compensatory damages, said Rick Simons, attorney for the plaintiff. Sixty percent of the compensatory damages was assessed against Jonathan Kendrick, the man accused of abusing her. Candace Conti sued Watchtower, the Fremont, Calif., congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and Kendrick in 2011. It’s msnbc.com’s policy not to identify victims of sexual abuse, but Conti agreed to be identified so that any other victims would feel they could come forward too. “The ultimate goal of the lawsuit was to have a change in policy, to be able to ID these people, child molesters, to the congregation to protect children,” Conti told msnbc.com. “Secondarily, to have silent ones come forward and tell their stories and to bring to light that overall issue of violence and the hush-hush policy.” Both her parents were Watchtower congregation members at the time of the abuse, she said. “I was trying to be the best Jehovah’s Witness I could be at that time,” she told msnbc.com. Jim McCabe, attorney for the Fremont congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, said that he was “stunned” by the verdict and would appeal. “This is the first case I know of where a church has been hit with liability involving a rank-and-file member,” he told msnbc.com. “Mr. Simons has his twist on the facts and we will see how a court of appeals views the trial court rulings and the evidence,” McCabe said. The jury found that the elders who managed the Fremont congregation in the 1990s and who were under the supervision of Watchtower knew that Kendrick, a member, had recently been convicted of the sexual abuse of another child, but they kept his past record secret from the congregation, said Simons. Kendrick went on to molest the plaintiff, who was a Jehovah’s Witness member in Fremont, over a two-year period beginning when she was 9 years old, the lawsuit contended. Kendrick was eventually convicted in 2004 of the sexual abuse of another girl, and is now a registered sex offender in California, Simons said. He has not been criminally charged with abusing the plaintiff, but Simons said the case is under investigation by law enforcement. We’re glad that this young woman got SOME restitution for the suffering she has endured for so many years. Jerry Sandusky , the former Penn State assistant football coach charged with child molestation, asked for court permission on Friday to see his grandchildren. Under conditions of his bail, Sandusky is currently prohibited from visiting his 11 grandchildren. A motion filed in Centre County court seeks to allow Sandusky to contact his 11 grandchildren by email, phone, text and Skype, and to let them visit his central Pennsylvania home if accompanied by a parent. Authorities allege Sandusky sexually abused 10 boys over a 15-year span. Sandusky has said he is innocent. He is currently under house arrest and forbidden from having contact with anyone under 18. “Jerry’s grandchildren want to see him, and he very much wants to see them,” Sandusky’s lawyer, Joe Amendola, wrote in an email to The Associated Press. The Justice Department reported Thursday that 12 percent of incarcerated juveniles, or more than 3,200 young people, had been raped or sexually abused in the past year by fellow inmates or prison staff, quantifying for the first time a problem that has long troubled lawmakers and human rights advocates.
