Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is a hot commodity these days. We’ve already seen Aaron Eckhart as Frankenstien’s monster and it was just announced that James McAvoy will be joining Paul McGuigan’s adaptation of the classic. McAvoy joins Daniel Radcliffe, who signed on as Igor back in March. The film’s screenwriter, Max Landis, has said that this version of Frankenstein will be “funny, sad, scary, and moving.” The as of yet untitled project is tentatively planned for a 2014 opening. Dutch filmmaker Tom Six cut a striking figure last month at Fantastic Fest , where he appeared — ever-smiling and clad head to toe in a pristine white suit, his outfit of choice — to world premiere his squirm-inducing body horror sequel, The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) . The following day Movieline spoke with Six about the film, in which he meets the challenge of one-upping himself in the escalation of extremes in gory, grotesque detail. Upon hearing that an audience member fainted the previous night , Six professed his sympathy. He was sorry to hear it, he said with a grin. Well, maybe not completely sorry.

Looks like John Travolta may not get the chance to prove that he’s man enough to play John Gotti Sr. in the upcoming crime-boss biopic from Barry Levinson. Showbiz 411 reports that the project, Gotti: In The Shadow Of My Father has been indefinitely postponed now that production company Fiore Films has run out of funds. While the three trailers for the alien invasion flick Battle: Los Angeles have shown maybe 70% of Los Angeles being blown to bits, the aliens have remained more or less obscured. Actually, in the first two , even lead actors Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez were hard to spot. In any case, thanks to Famous Monsters magazine, we now have our first look at what the film’s aliens will look like. I’ll go ahead and issue a spoiler warning now in case you wanted to play ball with the marketing team and wait until the film opens to see these guys.
