El Chapo was found guilty today, February 12, on 10 federal criminal counts. The New York Times reports that Chapo looked shocked and his wife tearfully gave him a thumbs up. “Mr. Guzmán sat listening to a translator, looking stunned. When the reading of the verdict was complete, Mr. Guzmán leaned back to glance at his wife, Emma Coronel Aispuro, who flashed him a thumbs up with tears in her eyes.” The cartel leader now faces life in prison at his sentencing hearing scheduled for June 25. Before his sentencing, 56 witnesses testified against, 14 of whom once worked with him. El Chapo’s lawyers are planning to file an appeal for the Sinaloa drug cartel leader.
Source: iOne Digital, The Rewind / IOne Digital Video It’s a wrap! 2018 was an outstanding year but it’s coming to a close so it’s only right that we revisit and review some monumental moments in our New Year edition of Global Grind’s The Rewind with DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius. Every week we revisit some of the pop culture trends, movies, viral moments and music from the week before and give our hot takes. Our experts Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise share their opinions, sprinkle in some facts and then when it’s all over and done with, provide a rating of 1 to 10. We listen to the songs, watch the movies, scour the internet, and do the hard work so you don’t have to. The final The Rewind episode of the year will be wrapping up iconic moments from previous episodes. First, DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius take us back to October 5th when they discussed Logic’s nearly 8 minute track, “Wu-Tang Forever” which appeared on Logic’s YSIV project and featured Cappadonna, Masta Killa, U-God, Inspectah Deck, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Method Man, GZA, RZA, and every other living member of the Wu you can think of. Franchise and Landon also discussed Cardi B, specifically her latest single “Money”, which Franchise was not feeling. However, Landon loves it and makes a note that Cardi B is clearly here to stay. Then we take a trip back to November 9th where Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise discuss Takeoff’s solo LP, “The Last Rocket”, which dropped on November 2nd. DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius being the super hip hop heads they are had got a lot to say. Landon actually enjoys the fact that Takeoff didn’t mumble rap for the entire album, citing that “The Martian”, the album’s first track, was his favorite. While Landon, being the Southerner that he is, was rocking with Takeoff’s solo effort, DJ Franchise was not feeling it one bit. The words “sucked” and “garbage” were thrown around a few times, actually. The pair also discussed “The Meg” in this episode, which was released on DVD on November 13th. This is just a tip of what we discussed on The Rewind this year. There’s so much more to catch up on. Press play on episode 23 above and get your final fix of The Rewind for 2018. We’ll see you next year!
Source: Anadolu Agency / Getty Last night, NYC was completely freaked out when the dark sky suddenly turned blue. All of a sudden we were in our own special episode of The Flash , wondering if Dr. Wells’ particle accelerator exploded, hoping the end result would be super speed—while non-superhero fanatics simply thought “the aliens” were taking over. It turns out, there’s a simpler explanation, as the New York Police Department confirmed the sky’s color change was due to a transformer explosion at a Con Edison facility. So this fire(?) is turning the sky blue in #NYC #UES pic.twitter.com/tnBdD83erm — Ferny Acevedo (@MrClimaCool) December 28, 2018 “ADVISORY: The lights you have seen throughout the city appear to have been from a transformer explosion at a Con Ed facility in Queens. The fire is under control, will update as more info becomes available,” the NYPD tweeted on Thursday, December 27. Con Ed also reached out via social media, tweeting “There was a brief electrical fire at our substation in Astoria which involved some electrical transformers and caused a transmission dip in the area. We’re currently investigating the cause of the incident. AQ.” As of late last night, the NYPD was still advising everyone to stay away from the area. “Transformer explosion was determined to be a non-suspicious equipment malfunction. Please continue to avoid the area due to keep traffic clear. Thank you,” they wrote in a follow-up tweet just before midnight. Hit the flip for the funniest responses (celebrities and all) and to get another look at the turquoise blue sky…people are not at all satisfied with the “transformer explosion” explanation. And just for the record, we too, definitely think the aliens have landed.

Source: Anadolu Agency / Getty A woman who is suing Usher for allegedly giving her genital herpes believes the singer is trying to pull a fast one. According to TMZ , a woman, only known as Jane Doe, thinks Usher is fraudulently transferring all his assets so they can’t be seized if he loses the $20 million lawsuit against him. In legal docs, her lawyer Lisa West says that Usher might be making moves because he delayed the discovery process in the lawsuit by 90 days. The process would involve Usher disclosing his assets and 90 days would give him enough time to hide them. Usher hasn’t made any comments so far, but we’ll keep you updated if the A-Town crooner is stashing the cash (or other items).
