#MeToo Founder Tarana Burke Has A Message For Comedians Trying To Return After Sexual Misconduct

Read the original:

Source: Bennett Raglin / Getty Tuesday marks the two year anniversary #MeToo went viral bringing wider attention to victims of sexual assault and misconduct. Though 2017 was the viral moment, the #MeToo work has been carrying on since before 2017 thanks to founder Tarana Burke . For the movement’s two year anniversary, Burke is reflecting on its impact and how it’s shifted the ways people talk about sexual violence. In an interview with Teen Vogue , one standout moment came when Burke was asked about the “gray areas” of sexual assault and misconduct. One person who came to mind was Aziz Ansari , who was accused of sexual misconduct for repeatedly pressuring a woman to have sex. Eventually, Ansari issued a statement saying he took time to “process” the woman’s side of the story, and he also addressed the incident in his Netflix stand-up special “Aziz Ansari: Right Now”. Burke spoke on this and even brought up Dave Chappelle , who notoriously made jokes about Michael Jackson and child molestation in his latest Netflix special “Stick & Stones”. “Can I say something about that in terms of accountability,” Burke started. “I have been thinking a lot about Dave Chappelle and Aziz Ansari because they both have these comedy specials, right? And I know Dave Chappelle wasn’t accused of anything, whatever, but he decided he was just going to go down this road….But some people are not going to be comfortable with what I’m going to say. I’ve said this in places where people are like, ‘I don’t agree with you,’ but I think Aziz Ansari’s response… has anybody seen his stand-up? He didn‘t act like it didn’t happen. He talked very clearly about what his year’s been like, and not from a like, ‘Yo, this has been a really messed up year,’ but like, ‘what did I learn? What did I do? How did I try to make this situation, turn this situation around?’ He was humble.” Burke then went on to compare him to fellow comedian Louis C.K.   who was also accused of sexual misconduct and is now trying to make a comeback. “And I said, you know, ‘Why can’t these other folks at least have some lessons,” Burke said. “I’m just so angry at the folks who kind of hide for six months, and then peek their head, like Louis C.K . Louis C.K. is an assh*le.” She continued: “And I’m going to tell you, he was one of my favorite comedians, right? I loved his show, I love Louis C.K., but you going to come back and start talking about transphobes, and children getting shot, what are we supposed to do?” Finally, Burke asserted: “And this is the thing about accountability with these public figures that I think they don’t get. You want my support, right? I don’t tell anybody what it should look like, but for me, when I think about accountability, you start with the person you harmed first. So before you bring your face out into the public or whatever, did you go to the people who you caused harm to and ask them what they need? Did you try to have a process, any kind of process, restorative process, with them? And they may say, “I don’t want that. I don’t want anything to do with you,” which is their right. But you have to start there. The second layer of that is, you want me to laugh at your jokes, buy your tickets, watch your specials, and you think you’re not accountable to me, and my values are not supposed to come into play on how I spend my money and my time? You are mistaken.” SEE ALSO: Questlove Clears Up Comments He Made About Iggy Azalea And Cultural Appropriation Police Interrogation Firm Sues Ava DuVernay And Netflix Over ‘When They See Us’

Lizzo Tweeted Out THIS Maybe Shade-Filled Request And Send Iggy Azalea Into A Mayo-Splattered Tizzy

Source: Getty / Getty Lizzo And Iggy Azalea’s Playful Rivalry Lizzo has been white the shade tree this summer. Of course we remember when she got into it with a food delivery service over supposed stolen food. That pales in comparison to the importance of her whirlwind run to the top of the charts. This has been the summer of Lizzo for sure. Now, she wants the crown of having the longest reigning female rap song at the top of the charts. So she posted this: *Fancy is a BOP and my homie @charli_xcx is genius on it (STREAM CHARLI- HER NEW ALBUM NOW) https://t.co/8yLbJNvXt2 — |L I Z Z O| (@lizzo) September 30, 2019 The statement had Iggy Azalea in her Helman-ic feelings. Whose Side? Iggy Azalea Called Wendy Williams A “Crackhead” And Here’s Who Twitter Is Destroying

Source: GETTY / Getty Iggy Azalea Vs. Wendy Williams Wendy Williams is not one to mince words. So when she went on her show to talk about Nicki Minaj, she mentioned Iggy Azalea , but referred to her as “the Australian girl with the fake body.” Yiiikes. This prompted Iggy to clap back on Twitter with this zinger: “Who’s the crack head in the halfway house with the gossip show thing?” Now, we get the intention here, to clap back. However, a white woman talking about crackheads? We don’t know about that one, chief. See how Twitter is reacting and whose side you’re on: a white Australian female rapper just tried to insult a black woman by comparing her to 1. A crackhead & 2. A man — on Beyoncé’s Internet.. where’s her management? That’s not how you manage that situation. at all. pic.twitter.com/H64EclkMju — Majesty Ria (@ToriNicksWho) September 18, 2019

In Clueless White Folks News: THIS Is What Iggy Azalea Has To Say About Cultural Appropriation

View this post on Instagram Iggy Azalea is ready for her comeback. Are you? The infamous Australian rapper (and our September cover star) is here to claim her second chance. Read the interview at the link in our bio. A post shared by Cosmopolitan (@cosmopolitan) on Aug 6, 2019 at 5:00am PDT Iggy Azalea Talks Mental Health, Cultural Appropriation For Cosmopolitan Magazine Iggy Azalea is Cosmopolitan ‘s latest cover girl. Inside she opens up about her mental health, becoming an independent artist, and also chimes in on cultural appropriation… because, we so desperately need her thoughts on that, of course. According to Iggy — the same woman who has used the phrase “runaway slave master”and more in her lyrics — cultural appropriation is “subjective.” View this post on Instagram Oh hey, it's our September issue Swipe for a glimpse inside, then text “subscribe” to 77177 to get yours A post shared by Cosmopolitan (@cosmopolitan) on Aug 6, 2019 at 7:51am PDT Here’s the full excerpt written by Jen Ortiz over at Cosmopolitan : Today, it’s a fact that if you say “Iggy Azalea” three times in a mirror, a think piece will appear behind you waxing philosophical on the definition of “cultural appropriation” and authenticity. And not without reason. She is, after all, a white woman profiting off black culture. She raps with a “blaccent,” which, in her case, is an exaggerated Southern drawl that can’t be found in Australia. When asked about the issues surrounding “speaking black” in a 2013 interview with  Complex , Iggy responded, “If you’re mad about it and you’re a black person, then start a rap career and give it a go too.” A few months before that, Iggy faced backlash from fans who’d uncovered some old racist tweets she claimed were jokes. And before  that , she had to write an apology for using the phrase “runaway slave-master” in a lyric. If you’ve been reading this waiting to get to the part where Iggy apologizes for all the above—sorry, she’s not sorry. (The most sing-along-able lyric off one of her new songs is “I started to say sorry / But fuck that shit,” so yeah.) But listen, she does get it now. Sort of. She thinks cultural appropriation is subjective, even though she knows that sounds like a fucked-up thing to say. “You could ask one person of the same race, ‘Does this affect you?’ and they will say yes,” she explains. “But another person will say no. They could be from the same place, same everything, but have different perspectives about it.” Then again, can you really say sorry and then keep doing the same shit? (Her question.) “I’m still going to make the same type of music and still be ridiculous and larger than life,” she says. “So I can’t be that fucking sorry about it.” The way she sees it, the reason some people hate her is the same reason a lot of other people love her, so what’s she supposed to do? In fact, she describes her fans as “free thinkers.” As she puts it, “They have to be because if you thought what everybody else thought, you probably wouldn’t be a fan of mine.” Iggy used to feel really defensive about this stuff. “I would hit back and say, ‘What about this that I had to go through?’ because I wanted to talk so much about my experiences of things I didn’t have, and I think it felt like I wasn’t acknowledging that there is white privilege and there is institutionalized racism,” she says. “It seemed to a lot of people like I was living in this bubble or unaware of all these things that people have to experience.” The charitable interpretation is that Iggy understands that the criticism stems from America’s relationship with race and that  that  history is fucked up. And hey, if that’s how you feel or what you believe, she’s not taking away the fact that it’s real for you. The less charitable one is that she doesn’t care. Either way, she’s going to stop rage-tweeting about it. Welp, what more can we really expect?

Iggy Azalea Vows Legal Action Against Fiend Behind Shocking Photo Leak

Like most people, we’ve thrown shade at Iggy Azalea a time or two in the past. But what has happened to her is shocking. Iggy is the latest celebrity victim of nude photo leaks, and these weren’t stolen from her phone — they’re outtakes from a professional photoshoot. In a lengthy message, Iggy has promised legal action against the creep who leaked the photos that should have been deleted years ago. “Recently some outtakes from my 2016 GQ magazine cover were leaked to the public,” Iggy’s heartfelt social media post begins. A couple of photos surfaced from a clearly professional shoot, showing Iggy in underwear and translucent boxers … with her breasts exposed. Iggy notes that “a lot of high profile women have shot covers for GQ with a strategically placed hand ect Covering their breasts etc.” “I always felt they were very beautiful covers,” she explains. “So I jumped at the opportunity.” “I hadn’t seen other women’s covers leak,” Iggy adds. “So I felt comfortable (on a closed set) to model for such a reputable magazine.” Iggy emphasizes that she only did so “knowing only the images with my hands covering would be considered for print.” “I never consented to taking topless pictures for potential release, period,” she affirms.  “It was my understanding BEFORE shooting,” Iggy adds. “GQ do not print topless pictures.” “There was no reason for anyone to have kept the outtakes from the shoot,” she expresses. Iggy shares: “I’m surprised and angry that they were not immediately deleted after the final images were selected.” “I feel blindsided, embarrassed, violated, angry, sad, and a million other things,” Iggy’s post continues. “Not solely because I didn’t consent to this,” she notes. “But also because of the vile way people have reacted.” “A lot of the comments I see from men in particular taking things even further,” Iggy laments. “And,” Iggy has seen these men “sharing their thoughts and fantasies in regards to my body had honestly disturbed me.” “The outright wicked things people say is overwhelming & makes me feel like throwing up,” she expresses. “If you’ve ever been humiliated before in front of family and those you care about,” Iggy suggests. “Maybe you can relate to what I’m going through.” “It’s like a nuclear bomb that explodes and not only destroys you emotionally, but leaves a path of destruction in your personal life,” she explains. “I fully intend on finding out where the leak originated,” Iggy writes. “And pressing criminal charges in regard to this.” Some might disagree with her seeking to exact revenge, but she lays out exactly why she’s taking this route. “It’s important to me that someone actually be held accountable for their actions,” she explains. “And the way it impacts my life.” “I have seen some really vicious s–t written in the last 24 hours,” Iggy reveals. “And,” she continues. “It is too much for me to handle.” “For now,” she explains. “It’s best to keep my accounts deactivated.” Both her Twitter and Instagram are deactivated at the moment, beginning a short time after she shared her message — knowing that it would be preserved. Iggy concludes by imploring her fans and followers to “please be kinder to one another.” Please understand that just because Iggy’s photos were part of an official photoshoot does not make this okay. Photos taken in private — such as behind-the-scenes looks or outtakes like these — should only be shared with consent. Similarly, the fact that Iggy is drop-dead gorgeous with a figure to match doesn’t mean that she should be “flattered” at this hateful leak. It’s a violation. Shame on the person who kept the photos, shame on the person who leaked the photos. And quite frankly, shame on the people who decided to sexually harass Iggy in her social media mentions.

Iggy Azalea Erotica of the Day

https://drunkenstepfather.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Iggy-Azalea-Erotica-3.mp4 This just in – Iggy Azalea Erotica is still disgusting… Based on scientific research and three independent studies conducted while walking my dog earlier today….Iggy Azalea Erotica is not really erotic at all… My research may not be all that accurate, since I know dudes will fuck anything, and after a winter of no bikinis, the most jaded pervert will still get excited by the half nakedness… Not to mention, I didn’t conduct any independent studies, I do my best to ignore other humans…but if I did, I am sure the answer I got would be “who?”…cuz she’s not household in my demographic… Point being, half naked, weird looking, cultural appropriating Australian slag being a slag to get noticed, attention and to sell records…to make more money than the money she’s already made being a hack. Iggy Azalea Is OK Sometimes

I don’t do that many posts on Iggy Azalea because personally, I don’t like big fake-like butts and cellulite. However, she has a decent face and a career that probably could use a little help, so I figure I’d give her the Tuna bump. You’re welcome!

Danielle Bregoli Throws Her Drink at Iggy Azalea, Heralds the Apocalypse

We have ourselves a real Alien vs Predator situation, because there’s no good guy in this feud. Whoever wins, we lose. Danielle Bregoli wants Iggy Azalea to cash her ousside . To make the scenario even sweeter, it happened at a Cardi B party. After Danielle hurled a drink at Iggy, the two went off on each other on social media. On Wednesday, November 14, the Fashion Nova X Cardi B launch party saw a bit of a tiff between two guests. This time, nobody was throwing shoes — but instead it was a drink that hurtled through the air. Iggy Azalea took to social media at the party to share that she was attacked — sort of — by Danielle Bregoli. “Am I just going to have a half and half wig for the rest of the night?” Iggy asked. “So the Dr. Phil girl is really upset about me apparently,” she said, bewildered. “And thought I’d fight a child?!” “LOL Anyway!” Iggy said, eager to move on. “The fashion nova party is LIT!” Danielle Bregoli took to social media herself to explain her beef with Iggy. “It’s simple,” Danielle writes. “Don’t talk all sorts of s–t on the internet and n [sic] come up to me like u [sic] my friend.” “Some of these hoes like u [sic] fake n [sic] 2 faced [sic] as f–k,” Danielle accuses. “But,” Danielle says. “I’m not that bich [sic].” Well that clears things up. (We think that she’s saying that she believes that Iggy was disparaging her online prior to the party) Iggy later elaborated on social media in a series of tweets. “I literally was standing there taking pictures wide open no security,” she shares. “Felt water thrown on my wig.” For the record, Danielle also confirmed that it was water. So, at least nobody handed the now 15-year-old rapper vodka to yeet. “Turned around and saw all these people scuffling and screaming,” she continues. “I thought there was a fight in that section.” There sort of was — and she was part of it. “I was confused as f–k about what was going on,” Iggy admits. “Then some fat girl started yelling and my friend raven jumped over a sofa and was tryna fight that fat girl,” Iggy adds. Charming. “I saw some red hair,” Iggy’s recollection of the evening continues. “And saw it was the Dr Phil girl.” Iggy is all kinds of problematic, but we have to give her props for declining to even use Danielle’s name. “I couldn’t hear a thing she said,” Iggy elaborates. “It’s a club and she was far.” “The security escorted her out,” Iggy says. “And she logged on to the gram from the parking lot I guess to claim her clout for what I don’t know,” she adds. Iggy says that she didn’t let it bother her: “I stayed and enjoyed the night.” “No one approached me,” she adds. “Her own babysitters moved her further and further way from me until I couldn’t see her,” Iggy reveals. “It was some ‘hold me back’ fake fight reality TV vibes,” Iggy characterizes. “Then she was escorted out.” That sounds positively surreal. Danielle continued to lash out on social media. “Glad u left wit a bag,” she said of Iggy’s gift bag. “Cuz u certainly ain’t making no money from music anymore.” We know that Danielle is an up-and-coming rapper whose music is breaking records , but that’s an odd insult. Iggy is still a big-name rapper and her estimated net worth is twice Danielle’s. Also, Iggy is not currently on probation. Danielle cannot honestly say the same.
