Jennifer Ella: Her Violent Past Detailed

About a year before she started dating Chaz Bono , Jennifer Ella had an incident that she would just as soon forget. She was arrested and booked on a charge of “battery of an ex-spouse/fiancee/person with a dating relationship.” Pretty hard core. Often referred to as “ simple domestic battery ,” the charge means that the perpetrator or attacker can be arrested “even if only the slightest force is used in the incident … any unwanted physical touching will suffice.” Short story, you don’t have to injure the victim to be convicted. The outcome of Jennifer’s case is unknown, as only the victim and the victim’s family are privy to it. Most likely, it was dropped or settled out of court. Jennifer Ella may have hinted at her alleged aggression in the documentary Becoming Chaz when she admitted: “When things get tough, I start to drink.” Happily, Jennifer said in May that she’s 14 months sober. She’ll be cheering on Chaz Bono as he competes in week three of Dancing With the Stars tonight. Chaz says he wants to marry Jennifer Ella within a year. [Photo: WENN.com]

The 5 Most Hilariously Bad Movies Starring Celebrity Apprentice Cast Members

This originally started as a “Best Movies Starring Celebrity Apprentice Cast Members” post, but I take it you already know about Gary Busey’s title turn in The Buddy Holly Story and Marlee Matlin’s Oscar-winning role in Children of a Lesser God , right? Great. Because Donald Trump’s minions have starred in some prime examples of insanely bad cinema, and we should be celebrating these lesser-known works. Be prepared to experience Lisa Rinna, Gary Busey, Marlee Matlin, and yes, Dionne Warwick, like you’ve never seen them before.

Baz Luhrmann is Still Full of Crap

Despite the fact that by all accounts, Baz Luhrmann is likely well into pre-production on The Great Gatsby — which will likely be shot in Australia, and in 3-D , and feature Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan in starring roles — the elusive director refused to admit anything at a dinner for Geoffrey Rush in Brooklyn on Thursday night. “I’m not doing Gatsby right now for this reason,” he told Vulture when asked why he was shooting Gatsby in Australia when his “team” was mostly located in New York. “Because despite what might be out there, I have made no comment about anything. So until I say it, it’s not said, you know.” Not really.

DVD: You May Not Think You Want To See Four Lions, But Trust Me, You Do

Satire at its best goes after the most sacred of cows — religion, politics, the rich and powerful. When it’s done bravely, satire brazenly stands up and stares down the thing that dominates or terrifies the most. And given that terrorism and the threat of same has been the leading tightener of sphincters worldwide, Four Lions (out this week from Magnolia Home Entertainment and Drafthouse Films) has to rank among the timeliest and most courageous films in recent memory. It’s also side-splittingly hilarious.

‘It Was All Unsaid’: Martin Scorsese and Paul Schrader Talk 35 Years of Taxi Driver

No classic film’s milestone anniversaries are safe from the reissue spotlight these days, hence the 35th anniversary restoration of Taxi Driver that debuted Thursday night in New York. But at least Sony made it count, reuniting director Martin Scorsese and screenwriter Paul Schrader for their first joint appearance on the film’s behalf since it won the Palme D’O r at the Cannes Film Festival three and a half decades ago.
