14-Year-Old Boy Gets 25-50 Years In Prison AFter Fatally Shoots His Mother In Her Sleep A Detroit teenager who shot his mother multiple times while she slept before also attempting to shoot his younger sister has been sentenced to 25-50 years in prison. via News One A teenage boy has been sentenced to serve 25 to 50 years in prison for killing his 36-year-old mother in their Detroit home. Joshua Smith was sentenced Friday in Wayne County Circuit Court. The 14-year-old shot and killed Tamiko Robinson as she slept on Feb. 27. Police say the shooting followed an argument. Smith was charged as an adult and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in September. In a statement to police, Smith said he was tired of being called names. His stepfather’s shotgun was used to kill Robinson. The boy’s uncle, who was visibly distraught over his sister’s gruesome and untimely death, told reporters that despite his nephew’s unthinkable actions, he still considers him family and still plans to be there for him in the future. It was also revealed that family members believe the boy became troubled when his father was sent to prison earlier this year on murder charges. This is such a sad and unfortunate story all around.
