Sucka… Via TIME Bill Cosby has filed a defamation suit against Beverly Johnson, according to his lawyer, for statements the former model made about the comedian in the media. Johnson is one of dozens of women who have accused Cosby of sexual assault—she came forward in a Vanity Fair article that detailed her troubling encounter with Cosby, during which she said the star drugged her. In a statement issued Monday, Cosby’s attorney Monique Pressley said Cosby is suing Johnson in California for her “false, malicious, opportunistic, and defamatory accusations that Mr. Cosby drugged her.” Pressley’s statement says Johnson is benefiting financially from sharing her story, which she told on several media shows and included in her recent memoir. Cosby is seeking compensatory and punitive damages and a court order that would keep Johnson from making further statements. Now that the number of women accusing Bill Cosby of sexual assault has topped 50, the comedian might finally be ready to address the ever-worsening scandal publicly. Of course, he won’t be doing so without a carefully coordinated media strategy, and he certainly won’t be admitting to any wrongdoing. Radar Online is reporting that the comedian’s team has worked up a strategy that will allow Cosby to play the victim – no easy feat, given all the monstrous things he’s been accused of. Sources familiar with the strategy say that reps for Cosby will use terms like “lynching,” “witch hunt” and “persecution” to make the public doubt the accusers. They’ll also argue that as white women accusing a black man in the 1960s and ’70s the women wouldn’t have had any fears about coming forward with their allegations: “Look, it’s not rocket science and it’s not hard to understand, particularly if you’re African-American, that no matter if an individual has fame and fortune, if he supposedly drugged and raped a white woman, he’s very much susceptible to swift and harsh punishment,” says Monique Pressly, a D.C. attorney who’s now working for Cosby. “So, what [the team] wants to do and will do on Mr. Cosby’s behalf is simply put to the public a scenario that everyone knows makes sense.” “Nearly all of these women are white and most of them said that this happened in the 1960s and 1970s. I don’t care if you’re Bill Cosby or any other black celebrity, you can’t tell me that a white woman’s claim of being assaulted in any way by a black man would be ignored.” “Bill Cosby was a black man in America. If we look back on our own history and see what was happening during those times, he would have been target No. 1 in those days.” “I’m saying, based on what I know of our country and our country’s history, and when we look back on the kinds of things that were being done to African-American males, I find it incredulous that no one would have believed [his white accusers] enough to check their story.” Not surprisingly, Pressly has refused to speak publicly about the revelation that Cosby admitted to drugging women in order to have sex with them over a decade ago. She’s also ignored the fact that several of Cosby’s victims, such as supermodel Beverly Johnson , are African-American. Insiders say Cosby and his team will go public with this strategy sometime this week.

Keshia Knight Pulliam is speaking out following her Celebrity Apprentice firing, and the Bill Cosby rape scandal, which her firing indirectly breathed new life into. Pulliam was fired on Celebrity Apprentice after Donald Trump criticized her decision not to call up The Cosby Show patriarch for a charitable donation. Keshia’s team lost the competition, a charity camp fund drive, as a result of her refusal to reach out Cosby, now embroiled in a firestorm of rape allegations. The episode was filmed many months before that scandal broke, but her decision, and its role in her dismissal by Trump, cast things in a very different light. “I know The Cosby Show is in reruns,” said Pulliam, 35, this morning on Today . “And everyone thinks that we’re this family that has dinner every Friday night.” “The reality was I hadn’t spoken to Mr. Cosby. I felt it would be tactless, very rude, to call someone and be like, ‘Hey, so, let me have some money right now.'” On the show, she offered a similar explanation to Donald Trump, saying: “So for me to pick up the phone, having not talked to [Cosby] for five years, except when we run into each other for an event … I feel that’s not my place to do.” Trump, in large part because he disagreed with this, dismissed Pulliam, his first firing of the new season starring Kate Gosselin and the like (see cast pics below). I wasn’t there . That’s just not the man I know. So I can’t speak to it.” “The fact that he’s been such an example, you can’t take away from the great that he has done,” she said, refusing to throw him under the bus whatsoever. “You know, the millions that he has given back to colleges and education, and what he did with The Cosby Show and how groundbreaking that was.”
