Source: Jub Rubjob / Getty Viral Video Of Black Man Running From Police Sparks Controversy There’s a war going on online , no hot take is safe from. Early this morning, rapper and activist @Tef_Poe posted a video of a young black man escaping police arrest and doing the Jesse Owens on a couple of cops who weren’t paying attention. That video was reposted by Marc Lamont Hill with a caption that triggered a great many people. Check it out below. View this post on Instagram Legends are born every day. Be inspired. (NOTE: This post has sparked a lot of conversation. Some are celebrating this man’s escape. Others are saying it’s irresponsible to run from police, as they could have shot him in the back. This discourse is fascinating, as it prompts a series of questions for me: How do you resist unjust laws? Why do we accept and normalize the entirely illegal act of shooting as suspect as they run away? How do we create strategies of resistance that allow our children to still survive and come home? What is it about this video that makes so many folk want to cheer this young man on?) A post shared by Marc Lamont Hill (@marclamonthill) on May 25, 2019 at 4:30am PDT The outraged folks argue that this video is dangerous and that Black people should not be encouraged to run away from police as they might be shot. Those who disagree retort that they were THRILLED to see the young man escape the pigs and rightfully note that we’ve seen many, many, MANY Black people comply with law enforcement and STILL be killed. Where do you stand on this issue? Do you see an inherent danger “promoting” people to run from police? Should Black folks just do everything police say in order to stay alive? Let us know what you think down in the comments.

According to the NYDailyNews , an NYPD supervisor, Lt. Christopher Bannon, sent a cold-hearted text one of the officers on the scene who was describing what happened to Garner. Bannon was called as a defense witness during the Officer Daniel Pantaleo “Danny and Justin went to collar Eric Garner and he resisted,” Saminath wrote. “When they took him down Eric went into cardiac arrest. He’s unconscious. Might be DOA.” “For the smokes?” Bannon asked. “Yeah,” Saminath fired back. “They observed him selling…Danny tried to grab him, they both went down. They called the [ambulance] ASAP. He’s most likely DOA. He has no pulse.” Bannon then sent his “No big deal” text, but claimed on the stand during that he had written it to comfort Pantaleo. The comment is said to have elicited an audible gasp from the audience that was so loud that the judge had to admonish them. Rest in peace, Eric Garner. You deserved better than this.

Source: Courtesy ABC / Courtesy ABC ABC To Air Black Panther Special Kudos to ABC for stepping up with some out of the box content! The network is set to air some very special programming tonight. Check out the promo trailer below: Here’s what to expect: “The FBI and the Panther” – In 1969 a running battle between the Department of Justice, the Nixon White House and the Black Power movement reached its height. Patterns of infiltration, wiretapping and violence marked that year. The special episode features powerful firsthand accounts that chronicle how the Black Panther Party established itself and became so influential in 1969, how their agenda evolved, what the Panthers represented to African Americans and why the White House deemed them a threat. “The FBI and the Panther” airs TUESDAY, MAY 14 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network and will be available on streaming and on demand. The documentary spotlights the gripping and deeply personal story of the life and death of a charismatic 21 year-old Panther leader named Fred Hampton. Hampton was gunned down as he slept, having been drugged and set up by a police informant. As the bullets flew his pregnant girlfriend tried to shield him with her body. A full 50 years after Fred’s death his then unborn child, Fred Hampton Jr., returns to the scene with his mother who recalls in vivid detail her attempts to save him. “The FBI and the Panther” also details the story of the violent raid on Panther headquarters in Los Angeles that year, from the perspective of Black Panthers who were involved and an LAPD officer wounded in the shootout. Young Black Lives Matter leaders, along with former police and former Black Panthers, describe a violent battle that unfolded between the FBI and the militant, charismatic and ill-fated young Black Panthers. Black Lives Matter founder Patrisse Cullors and recording artist Tariq Trotter of The Roots talk about how this chapter of American history continues to shape the story of race in America today. The Series Director and Executive Producer is Jeanmarie Condon for Lincoln Square Productions. Fatima Curry is Senior Producer on “The FBI and the Panther” and is directed by Cyndee Readdean. We can’t wait to see this! Will you be watching?
Source: Sun Sentinel / Getty Florida Residents March For #JusticeForLucca Delucca “Lucca” Rolle was pepper-sprayed, punched and had his head slammed against the pavement by Broward County police last month and the people in his hometown have not stopped fighting on his behalf and on behalf of millions of Black folks who have been abused by police. According to Sun-Sentinel , over one hundred people joined the 15-year-old to march for the criminal prosecution of the two officers who attacked him. The white sheriffs, Deputy Christopher Krickovich and Sgt. Greg LaCerra, have been suspended by Sheriff Greg Tony but that ain’t really good enough. “We will not stop until those officers are fired and charged,” Broward/Fort Lauderdale NAACP president Marsha Ellington said. “We will remember the choices [Tony] makes when it comes to justice for Lucca.” Yolanda Daley, a parent attending the rally, made a good point about the way the “justice system” handles these situations. “No one else should be able to do that and get away with it,” Daley said. “If a parent can’t do that, there’s no way that another human being can take my child and do them that way.” A parent is 100% going in prison for doing this to their child. Travon Martin’s mother was also on hand and had this to say: “Our children’s lives matter. No one seems to understand that but us,” Fulton said. “So we have to fight for our children.” We can only hope that a prosecutor sees this case a clear cut criminal act and treat it accordingly.

It appears that he only had but so much fortitude on deck to wiggle and squirm out of the direct questions asked of him in regards to the Mueller investigation and Donald Trump. Source: Win McNamee / Getty The running scared Attorney General was publicly mocked today on the same floor he was publicly skewered on yesterday by Tennessee state Rep. Steve Cohen who brought in a big bucket of KFC to mock “chicken” Bill Barr… This is what America has become thanks to Donald Trump and his endless roster of obsequious a$$ kissers.
Source: picture alliance / Getty Chicago Police Seen Punching Female High School Student The Chicago police, fresh off of the f**kery that was the Jussie Smollett case, have found themselves in the midst of yet another situation that exemplifies why people don’t trust them. According to ABC13 , a newly released video shows an incident at Marshall High School in which officers are seen punching, kicking, and dragging a 16-year-old girl, Dnigma Howardm, down a flight on stairs. On the footage you can see Dnigma talking to a friend as officers loom in the background. When the friend leaves they immediately run up on Dnigma and push her to the ground. Video from another angle shows the officers dragging Howard down the stairs, and at the bottom one officer is holding her arm while the other is holding her leg. “In the video you can see they pull her by the leg down the stairs, the whole flight of stairs,” Dnigma’s father Laurentio Howard. One cop on the video appears to both punch and kick the teenaged girl while she’s on the ground. Dnigma’s father had been called to the school to pick her up after she was kicked out of class of having her phone out. He was on hand watching Chicago police handle his daughter like this. “I’m standing downstairs by the front door and she said, ‘I’m going to get her to come downstairs. She’s going home right now,’” he said. “I couldn’t believe I seen two sworn police officers of Chicago abusing my daughter like this and I’m standing right there watching them do this and can’t do anything about it,” he recalled of the incident. F**k 12.
