Benett/ Getty Images On Tuesday (February 21), some of the biggest names in the music business headed to London’s O2 Arena for the 2012 Brit Awards , where Adele , Rihanna and Bruno Mars were among the stars who took home prizes. Grammy winner Adele added to her award collection by nabbing two Brits, including British Female Solo Artist and the night’s big prize, Mastercard British Album of the Year, for 21. And on Wednesday, the U.K. singer will celebrate the one-year anniversary of her chart-topping 21. “It’s been an amazing year,” she told the room as she accepted the Female Solo Artist prize. She then joked to presenter Kylie Minogue, “I feel like a drag queen next to you,” before thanking her record label for “for letting me be the kind of artist I want to be.” There were also live performances from Florence and the Machine, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Rihanna and, of course, Adele, who sang “Rolling in the Deep” just a little over a week since her Grammy performance . Meanwhile, just as One Direction seems poised for a U.S. takeover the U.K. boy band nabbed a British Single award for their track “What Makes You Beautiful,” which was released in the States last week. Rihanna and Bruno Mars won International Female Solo Artist and International Male Solo Artist, respectively. “[Thanks to] all my fans who continue to support me no matter what,” said Rihanna, who made headlines on Tuesday (February 21) by adding Chris Brown to her “Birthday Cake” remix . Coldplay took home the British Group prize for the third time. On the other end of the spectrum, Grammy winners the Foo Fighters beat out folks like Jay-Z and Kanye West (a.k.a. the Throne), Lady Antebellum and Maroon 5 to win International Group. Lana Del Rey won the International Breakthrough Act award, just weeks after she dropped her debut, Born to Die. Other awards included Outstanding Contribution Award for Blur, a Critics Choice Award for Emeli Sande and British Male Solo Artist for singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran, who also took British Breakthrough Act. Justin Bieber ‘Too Humble’ To Give The Wanted Advice

U.K. boy band wrapped their first-ever U.S. tour Wednesday night in L.A. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: Getty Images The Wanted landed on U.S. shores last month for their first-ever tour here in America, and what ensued was Beatlemania-like fandom. On Wednesday night, the U.K. boy band wrapped up the trek in L.A., and fans (including the Beckham family) came out in full force when they took the stage at the El Rey. The five Brits couldn’t believe the enthusiasm felt by the crowd, tweeting that the excitement for them was “unbelievable.” Even though the tour is over, the interest in the guys has hardly waned. Their song “Glad You Came” (from their 2011 album Battleground ) will be featured on “Glee” this season and continues to climb the charts and gain radio play. The guys are prepared for all the attention: Touring with Justin Bieber has shown them what it’s like to become an international pop sensation. So what kind of advice has the Biebs given them? “I think he’s too humble for that, in that way. … He’s not someone that really gives advice, because I think he just appreciates what happens to him rather than thinks he’s God,” Max George told MTV News. “And so, I mean, we don’t really talk music. When we speak to him, it’s more we talk about football or basketball.” Bandmate Jay McGuiness added: “I think he knows that we know how to do what we want to do in the same way that we could never tell him how to do what he does, ’cause he does it a lot better than we ever could.” The Wanted will head back home to their native U.K. to kick off an arena tour that will run through March. They are also up for Best British Single at the Brit Awards this month for “Glad.” Have you been following the Wanted’s burgeoning career? Let us know in the comments! Jay-Z, Lady Gaga Win Big At The Brit Awards

Lily Allen and Oasis also take home trophies in London. By Larry Carroll Jay-Z accepts the award for “Best International Male Solo Artist” at the Brit Awards Tuesday Photo: Gareth Cattermole/ Getty Images It’s Lady Gaga’s world — we’re all just living in it. As if fans needed any more proof, the shape-shifting songstress swept the Brit Awards on Tuesday (February 16), taking charge of the U.K.’s high-profile music ceremony while winning three key categories — and paying touching tribute to fashion icon Alexander McQueen . Considered by many to be the British equivalent of the Grammys, more than 1000 industry insiders vote for the Brit Awards. In addition to Gaga, the evening’s big winners included Jay-Z, Lily Allen and Oasis — who received a special honor as their (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? was named best British album of the last 30 years. The big story of the evening, however, was Gaga . Nominated three times, the “Poker Face” singer swept her three categories, taking home Best International Album, Best International Female Solo Artist and International Breakthrough Act Supported by MTV Viewers. Gaga Steals The Brit Awards Show As expected, Lady Gaga stole the show with a daring outfit, performing in a Marge Simpson-height white wig and lace veil, accented by lace eyebrows. Less predictable, however, was her heartfelt words for one of the men who helped her become such an outrageous style icon. “Thank you to Lee McQueen,” Gaga said with a strained voice at one point, referring to the fashion designer whose lobster-clawed shoes adorned her feet in the “Bad Romance” music video. McQueen was found dead in his London home last Thursday (February 11). Of particular interest to American audiences might be the International Male Solo Artist category, which had Jay-Z triumphing over fellow heavyweights Eminem and Bruce Springsteen. The Brits also handed out special awards honoring the past 30 years, celebrating best album, (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?, and best hit song, the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe/Who Do You Think You Are.” Winners that may be of less interest to Americans include Florence & the Machine (British Female Solo Artist, MasterCard British Album), Dizzee Rascal (British Male Solo Artist), JLS (British Breakthrough Act, British Single), Kasabian (British Group), Elle Goulding (Critics’ Choice) and Robbie Williams (Outstanding Contribution Award). Lily Allen, in an orange wig, took home the Best British Female trophy. “This doesn’t happen to me very often,” she admitted. “So thank you very much. I love you.” Related Photos Gaga Steals The Show At The Brit Awards
