Bungie Says Deuces To Activision & Keeps ‘Destiny’, Employees Pop Champagne

Source: Randy Shropshire / Getty The rocky relationship between Destiny developer Bungie and publisher Activision is over. In a shocking turn of events, the studio announced the split and that it will be keeping the game. The divorce between the two was years in the making, and it existed long before the first game hit shelves. Bungie broke the news to its employees during a team meeting describing the split as fantastic news. Bungie’s employees who have grown tired of having to deal with Activision celebrated the news by popping champagne according to one person in attendance. In a blog post , Bungie had this to say about the split: “We have enjoyed a successful eight-year run and would like to thank Activision for their partnership on Destiny, Looking ahead, we’re excited to announce plans for Activision to transfer publishing rights for Destiny to Bungie. With our remarkable Destiny community, we are ready to publish on our own, while Activision will increase their focus on owned IP projects.” Since its launch back in September 2014, Destiny’s introduction to the video world has been a rocky one because of its slow roll-out of content in the form of updates and expansions. Bungie’ most recent release Destiny 2: The Forsaken has been well received by fans but failed to meet Activision’s sales expectations. With its newly gained freedom, Bungie is looking forward to a much better future for the game due to no longer being constrained to Activision’s annualized schedule.  “We’ll continue to deliver on the existing Destiny roadmap, and we’re looking forward to releasing more seasonal experiences in the coming months, as well as surprising our community with some exciting announcements about what lies beyond.” Bungie also has a new game coming very soon as well thanks to a $100 million investment from NetEase. Activision stated via its Twitter account that Destiny 2 will remain on Blizzards Battle.Net. We are looking forward to what Bungie has in store for Destiny 2 .

Halo: Reach Multiplayer Beta To Feature "Huge Chunk Of Sandbox Goodness"

In just over a month, Bungie will unleash the absurdly anticipated multiplayer beta for the next installment in their adored shooter franchise Halo: Reach . And if you remember the MP beta for Halo 3 , you know that Bungie doesn’t mess around when it comes to delivering quality content in their betas, and Reach will be no exception. Adding to the solid beta foundation, Bungie will also be throwing in a deluge of new gameplay features that will drastically, yet logically, change how players approach the game compared to previous Halo games. But perhaps the most surprising element of the multiplayer beta will be the level of freeform madness it will include compliments of its sandbox design elements. “The public beta is going to include a huge chunk of Reach sandbox goodness,” Bungie community manager Brian Jarrard recently told Game Informer . “I think players will actually be surprised at how much is there, but in order to maintain the core game experience and get useful feedback, we needed to include a well-rounded offering. Suffice it to say there will still be surprises waiting in the final game this fall.” Halo multiplayer has always been known for creating wildly frenetic and varied moment-to-moment insanity. Throwing in a ton of new gameplay features (jetpacks, anyone?) and improved sandbox elements, and you have one tasty recipe. And you only have to wait until May 3 to see how it tastes. April Fools: Google Docs To Offer Storage of Physical Objects

In a shocking April 1 announcement, Google has revealed that Google Docs, the company’s document storage service, will now allow for the storage of physical objects. Store Anything will store pets, pizzas, and pianos, and that’s just the letter “P.” They promise to store and distribute any physical object using Google technology. Michael B, a House Surfer, put it this way: “Since I uploaded my condo to Google Docs I can sleep in my own bed regardless of where I am. It gives a whole new meaning to don’t leave home without it.” I’m trying to use Google Docs to upload my urine as we speak. According to Patrick Klepek, bathroom stops will throw us off schedule, and I don’t think the brakes work too well on this car anyway. Bigfoot is punctual, apparently. Source: Google
