Jim Jones Wants Diplomats Reality Show, Reunion Album In 2012

Jones tells ‘RapFix Live’ he wants the Harlem group’s comeback album to roll out with a reality show documenting their recording process. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Jim Jones on “RapFix Live” Photo: Fans have waited eight years for a third Diplomats album, what’s another few months? If Jim Jones has his way, the long-awaited Diplomatic Immunity 3 will be out by the end of the year. “Real soon; might be the fourth quarter,” the Dipset Capo said when he appeared on “RapFix Live” on June 13. Long after the group broke up , Jim, Cam’ron, Juelz Santana and Freekey Zekey announced two years ago that they would be coming back together and dropping a new album. The crew did reunite onstage this past weekend as Drake’s special guests during his concert at Jones Beach in New York, but the LP is still a ways off. “Me and Killa has been working diligently together and recording and things like that. So, everything is moving not as fast as everybody else would want it to, but it’s moving just on time for us,” Jim said, referencing he and the group’s lead MC Cam’ron. “The Diplomat album is definitely in the works.” There is a single in the pipeline, Jim briefly spoke on the Lil Wayne-assisted “Have You Ever Made Love to a Diplomat,” but didn’t say when fans will be able to hear it. If Jones had his way, the roll-out for the Harlem group’s comeback album will begin with a fall reality show documenting the quartet’s recording process. The program would then lead up to a December release for the LP. It’s all very hypothetical at the moment, Jones said. Group member Juelz Santana has been facing some legal trouble after a 2011 arrest following a raid on his New Jersey recording studio. He was charged with four counts of narcotic and weapon offenses. “They charged me with the firearms,” Elz said when he appeared on “RapFix Live” last June. “They didn’t charge me with trying to sell, but they put out a statement making it seem like I was selling weed out of my studio, which is preposterous. Dime bags? I got a phantom and a Bentley outside of my studio; I’m not selling dime bags. That sh– is just crazy.” The drama has affected Santana’s musical output, but Jones insists that he’s been working. “It’s hard when you have a break after another break and things start to pile up on you,” Jim said of his buddy. “In this past two months he’s been recording like a beast, so I know for sure he has like 30-something songs done.” What are your expectations for the Diplomats reunion album? Is Juelz Cheating On “Love & Hip-Hop’s” Kimbella With This Brown Banger???

Apparently Erica Mena may not have been so offbase with that “Juelz lovin’up on the next chick” business after all. One of our Bossip spies was in the building Sunday when Juelz Santana hosted a party at Tabu Nightclub in Long Island. According to our source, the Dipset rapper is seeing a model/bartender named Nikki J behind Kimbella’s back. Nikki’s resume is very similar to Kimbella’s — credits include appearances in KING,Straight Stuntin’ and Smooth Magazines and apparently her nickname is Miss Incredibody. Our source told Bossip exclusively that Juelz had her in the VIP kissing and flirting all night, and even went to the extreme of having cameras removed from the section. At the end of the night, our witness saw Nikki Jay leaving Tabu with Juelz… in his car!!! We didn’t want to believe this one, but we were able to confirm with an insider familiar with the Dipset rapper who confirmed that Juelz is a NOTORIOUS CHEATER who is always f***ing around with women behind Kimbella’s back. To add fuel to the fire, Nikki Jay made some interesting Facebook posts the following day. Peep those on the flip, along with some photos of her banging body.

Eve, Diplomats Turn Out For Wolfgang Gartner’s Weekend in America

‘I could go on and on with what I feel for hip-hop,’ the dance music producer tells MTV News of roping in all-star rap features on new album. By Akshay Bhansali Eve Photo: Jason LaVeris/ FilmMagic After a stint in Texas, electronic dance music producer Wolfgang Gartner moved back to his native California, where resumed recording in a new studio. Now that he’s all settled in, Gartner’s got a treat for his fans too: a band-new album that boasts so much hip-hop star power he may become to rap what superstar EDM producer David Guetta is to pop. But longtime fans of Gartner that have been devoted to him for hits like “Undertaker” and “Animal Rights” need not worry: Even with the big collabos, the Wolfgang product sounds no less underground. Weekend in America, which dropped on Tuesday (September 20), features 11 tracks. Thematically, it’s an effort borne of “life on the tour,” according to Grammy-nominated Gartner . “There is definitely a sense of patriotism there,” Gartner (born Joey Youngman) told MTV News recently. ” ‘Illmerica,’ the track came far before I knew the album was going to be called Weekend in America. Once [‘Illmerica’] became a song, I started having these mental images of when you’re flying over the center of the U.S., you see the little houses and you see America. “And for some reason, that’s what this song made me see: the soul of America, which is the bad part and the good part and all of the messed up stuff and the good stuff combined,” the producer continued. “For some reason, that’s just how it made me feel. ” Weekend in America was more alluding to going out on the weekends playing these shows, [where] I’m playing these tracks that I’ve been making. I’m playing other people’s tracks, too, but it’s kind of a culmination of what I see and what I hear out there that influenced the making of this album.” Even before its official release, America tracks like “Space Junk,” “Menage a Trois,” and “818” have already taken off as singles on the EDM scene. But with Tuesday’s album release, Gartner emphasizes what his hard-core fans already knew: He’s got a serious love for hip-hop. Rap princess Eve is featured on the party-hard “Get Em.” Dipset’s Cam’ron and Jim Jones jump on “Circus Freaks.” Omarion belts on “Still My Baby” and as WG fans know, will.i.am gets busy on “Forever,” which was released earlier this year. “I definitely listen to hip-hop more than I listen to dance music,” Gartner confessed to us. “When I’m in my car, all I listen to is rap. Obviously, I’m really into the Dipset crew — that’s like half my playlist right now, the new Jim Jones album. I listen to a lot of old Snoop and West Coast. A lot of old Biggie and the classics. Kanye. I really like Drake, Lil Wayne, that whole [YMCMB] crew. I could go on and on with what I feel for hip-hop.” Of course, with that many hip-hop features on tap, many will draws comparisons to Guetta’s pop crossover success, which has helped to bridge the dance and mainstream music worlds. But while their styles may be different, it’s a comparison Gartner welcomes. “David Guetta has been instrumental in creating the climate that we have now, where I can work with Eve and I can work with will.i.am, and they are receptive, the public is receptive and radio is receptive,” Gartner explained. “He played a role in opening the door up for people like me to do the same thing and have success. I think the dance music community, including myself, owes something to him for sort of paving the way for that.” Weekend in America is available at Beatport.com Next up for Gartner is the video for “Get Em,” with Eve. L.A. Reid Makes Epic Move To Sony

‘X Factor’ judge will reportedly reunite with Usher and Pink at a soon-to-be restructured Epic Label Group. By Rob Markman L.A. Reid Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images High-ranking industry execs have been playing a game of musical chairs lately, and in a move that many insiders suspected, former Island Def Jam Chairman L.A. Reid will take the seat as the chairman of the soon-to-be restructured Epic Label Group, a part of Sony Music, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In an April interview with MTV News, Reid remained tight-lipped about the possible move and has repeatedly dodged the question in the media, but THR reports he will take the helm at Epic, replacing songwriter Amanda Ghost, in the beginning of July. Speculation about the move arose after L.A. left IDJ and soon took a gig as a judge on Simon Cowell’s talent “X Factor,” where the winner will receive $5 million in cash and a recording contract with Sony. When the deal is complete, Epic Label Group will encompass Jive Records, where former Reid prot

Juelz Santana Calls Drug Charges Against Him ‘Preposterous’

‘I got a Phantom and a Bentley outside of my studio; I’m not selling dime bags,’ Dipset MC said about raid of his studio, on ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman, with Sway Calloway Juelz Santana Photo: MTV News When the Diplomats stopped by MTV News’ “RapFix Live” back in January, the quartet arrived … as a threesome. So when Sway asked about the absent Juelz Santana , Dipset leader Cam’ron had an explanation. “He was on his way, but he had some type of allergic reaction on his face,” he said, adding that Juelz had eaten something that didn’t agree with him. Cam was quick with a cover-up but as fans soon learned, it wasn’t a rash, but a police raid on his Bergen County, New Jersey, studio that kept Santana from the Dipset crew’s first appearance on our live stream. And when the Harlem rapper finally sat on the “RapFix” couch on Wednesday, he set the record straight about what happened that day. “For those who don’t know, my studio got raided, to make a long story short. I wasn’t there, I wasn’t present. One of my artists was there — shout-out to my boy Hynief — he was in the building,” Santana said , referring to the friend/MC who was arrested during the raid. “They raided the studio and in the process of raiding the studio they allegedly said they found some firearms. Once again, I wasn’t there, I wasn’t present, it’s a studio.” The raid turned up two handguns, drug paraphernalia and 17 Ziploc bags containing “a greenish brown vegetation consistent with the appearance of marijuana,” according to police reports. Santana was later arrested on February 2 and charged with four counts of narcotic and weapon offenses in connection with the raid, which came as a result of a 10-month-long investigation of the studio by the Bergenfield Police Department. “My name is the biggest so of course they are going to target me as the one to put a lot of the blame on,” the Harlem MC said. “I had no clue on what’s going on, I rent the studio out to people. That’s like if I rent the studio out right now to somebody and they choose to bring whoever they want to bring in to the studio. They rented the studio out; I have no knowledge of what’s going on until I come back and your [rental] time is finished.” Juelz also elaborated on his own charges with Sway. “They charged me with the firearms,” he said. “They didn’t charge me with trying to sell, but they put out a statement making it seem like I was selling weed out of my studio, which is preposterous. Dime bags? I got a phantom and a Bentley outside of my studio; I’m not selling dime bags. That sh– is just crazy.” Despite his troubles, Santana seemed to be in good spirits and assured fans his lawyer was still sorting out the legalities.
