Let’s be honest: THG is a place you go not only to catch up on the latest news, but to fill a bit of downtime. I’m sure there’s been times you’ve turned to us and there isn’t a new story. It’s then you think, such a slow news day, what a bummer. Trust me, if you take the slow news day hard, please know that we’re dying over here! So instead of just sitting and staring off into space, waiting for retirement… we’ve taken to YouTube. We do it for you, dearest readers. Man of Steel Parody Video Today let’s do some movie themes. Like this Man of Steel video. The Man of Steel theme is beautiful but I have to say, I might enjoy this dude’s take on it even more. Feelings? The corn background? It’s a winner. Cosplay Piano video A-May-Zing. Love this whole idea. Cosplay plus the theme of a movie your cosplay is related to? Genius. This is much better then staring off into space. Tara’s Theme Video So, I’ll be honest. I went out and looked for Tara’s Theme from Gone With the Wind because well, I’m southern and live in Georgia and I was just having a “need Gone With the Wind in my life” moment. I can tell you these people have never been to Georgia. Our homes don’t float, and didn’t float in the time of Gone With the Wind either. I’m thinking they are taking the ‘wind’ part of that way too seriously. There are no words for those dolls. This was a bad idea. Misty Mountains Acapella Video Okay, Misty Mountains isn’t really the theme for The Hobbit but I love this video and I’m doing a service here so just go with it. I love this video and pretty much every other video he has done. Gives me chills each time I watch it. Well I hope this helped fill your day just a little bit. Since we never know when this slow news situation will next strike, I feel like I should be prepared. What do you want to see covered in a Slow News Special? Vintage TV show clips? The already-intense NASCAR Sprint Cup race took an unexpected and violent turn this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway when a melee broke out in the put. There was no love lost between Jeff Gordon and Clint Bowyer, who bumped cars several times … and whose teams erupted into a fight. Watch the video below: Clint Bowyer-Jeff Gordon Crew Fight in Garage! Following some unpleasant run-ins with Bowyer this year, Gordon appeared to get even with Bowyer by slowing down and purposefully clipping his rear fender. That incident sent both cars careening into the wall, then sent the pit crews of the respective drivers into a frenzy as pushing, shoving and fisticuffs ensued. Gordon was quickly ushered away from the fight, but the chaos continued unabated for some time; it’s unclear what punishment(s) the perpetrators may face.
Barbara Walters is not happy about Lindsay Lohan bailing on 20/20 – and even less pleased that the star immediately booked an interview with Jay Leno. Her new publicist, Tej Bhatia Herring, took over when Steve Honig quit last month, and was reportedly concerned that Walters would paint Lohan in an unfavorable light. She therefore found else someone to interview her client, a man who lobs more softballs than that fat dude in your slow-pitch league: Jay Leno. Come to think of it, Leno might actually be the fat dude in your slow-pitch league. Walters feels she was stood up by Lindsay and is pissed, given how fair she believes she’s been to her over the years – and would’ve been again in this case. Alas, fair also means holding the interview subject at least semi-accountable. On Friday, NBC announced that Lohan would appear on The Tonight Show on November 20 to promote her Liz Taylor biopic, which airs on November 25. You can expect Leno to stick to the Liz & Dick talking points and avoid any hard-hitting inquiries about partying, legal problems or family issues. Lohan’s new publicist seems to have a plan to reconstruct her client’s image, one that basically entails preventing her from having to explain herself. Ever. PR at its finest.
