Lena Dunham Reveals Battle With Drug Addiction

Lena Dunham has been a divisive figure for the majority of her career, but this week, the Girls creator revealed that she shares something in common with tens of millions of Americans from all walks of life and all regions of the country. In an interview with actor Dax Shepard, Dunham revealed that she has struggled with prescription pill addiction for several years. “I was having crazy anxiety and having to show up for things that I didn’t feel equipped to show up for … but I know I need to do it, and when I take a Klonopin, I can do it,” Dunham said on the latest episode of Shepard’s podcast. “I didn’t have any trouble getting a doctor to tell me, ‘No, you’ve got serious anxiety issues, you should be taking this. This is how you should be existing,’” Dunham continued. “It stopped being, ‘I take one when I fly,’ and it started being like, ‘I take one when I’m awake.’” Dunham attributes her acute anxiety to trauma stemming from sexual assault and health issues: “I was diagnosed with pretty serious PTSD,” Lena said. “I have a few sexual traumas in my past and then I had all these surgeries and then I had my hysterectomy after a period of really extreme pain … It stopped feeling like I had panic attacks and it started feeling like I was a living panic attack.” These days, it often seems that public figures only open up about substance abuse issues when they’re forced to following some sort of PR disaster, so we commend Lena for opening up of her own volition. Earlier this week, it was revealed that Dunham will be penning a screenplay for a J.J. Abrams-Steven Spielberg film about a family of Syrian refugees. On social media, many were critical of the decision to hire Dunham for such a project, arguing that there’s no way someone in her position can relate to the plight of Syrians driven from their homeland by war. But perhaps Abrams, Spielberg, and company knew what the rest of us did not — that Dunham is a survivor of a different variety, and with sufficient compassion, she may be able to channel her painful past in a creatively productive way. Only time will tell, of course. But for now, we applaud Dunham for being candid about such a topic that affects so many, yet is so rarely addressed. Meghan Markle Accused of Making "Worst Curtsy" in Recorded History

Meghan Markle played a lawyer on the USA Network hit drama Suits. But criticism continues to pour in regarding the Duchess of Sussex, most notably that she simply cannot play the role of a Royal with the proper respect it deserves. Over the past several weeks, sources have come down hard on Markle for snubbing various Palace traditions , typically ones associated with fashion and decorum. And now it seems as if certain people are also taking issue with the way Markle is acting overseas. The expecting mother and Prince Harry have mostly been receiving rave reviews for their behavior on their ongoing tour — but Markle is coming under fire at the moment for how she greeted Tonga’s King Tupou VI and his wife Queen Nanasipau’u last week. Specifically, how weakly sue curtsied on front of the powerful couple. Here is a still shot of the bow in question: Did Markle get down low enough? Did she hold her form for long enough? Did her facial expression make it clear she just wasn’t that into the gesture? All of the above, Twitter users appear to be saying. Here is a sampling of their most harsh responses to Markle’s lame curtsy: Those were the two worst curtsies I think I’ve ever seen! I wonder if maybe she wasn’t sure if she should curtsy? Either way, you gotta commit. I saw this video on Instagram. Gives the impression she did not know if she should curtsy or not. That seems plausible, right? It can be tricky to remember all the customs of various nations, especially for someone not raised in such an environment. In case you somehow haven’t heard, Markle is pregnant . So it’s also possible that she only gently curtsied in order to protect her fetus. We really can’t say for certain at the moment. However, a so-called etiquette expert named William Hanson told The Daily Mail that Markle has a lot to learn about how a Royal should act overall. He says she sticks her hands into her pockets on far too many occasions. “We know that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pioneering a new, relaxed, tactile branch of monarchy, but having hands in the pocket is a step too far,” this random critic says, adding: “There is good casual and there is bad casual. “Placing a hands in the pocket is too relaxed and unprofessional.” Markle, of course, is no stranger to criticism. Just ask her awful half-sister . We doubt she’ll respond to the backlash she is garnering here, especially because Hanson admits that her actions aren’t actually a big deal. Not in the grand scheme of life, that is. “Will the world end? No,” he concludes to The Mail. “It is just a small blip in Meghan’s usually delightful manners that can be easily corrected for future engagements.” PHEW . Shannon Beador: JEALOUS of Emily Simpson and Gina Kirschenheiter?

Viewers of  The Real Housewives of Orange County  watched  Shannon Beador flip out  on anyone and everyone in sight. While  Shannon did apologize , it really pulled into focus how unfriendly she has been towards the two newest cast members. Is Shannon  jealous  of Emily and Gina? Kelly Dodd has a theory. … When asked who is the biggest buzzkill, Kelly Dodd reluctantly names Shannon. “I have to say, Shannon is the best, the most fun, I hang out with her the most,” Kelly begins. “But she can just take it down,” Kelly says, snapping. The implication here is that Shannon can turn an otherwise enjoyable time into a miserable one if she's in the right mood. Kelly clearly doesn't mean it as an insult, just as a fact. A new caller asks Kelly why it seems that Shannon is initially unfriendly to newer members of the  RHOC  cast. The caller speculates that perhaps Shannon is jealous of these women. “Shannon's not jealous of anyone,” Kelly quickly states. Kelly explains Shannon's apparent cold shoulder: “It just takes her a long time to warm up to people.” “I mean, not everybody has to like everyone,” Kelly reasons. Kelly wants to make it clear that there's a difference between being slow to make friends and being a stone cold b–ch. “But Shannon is such a great person once you get to know and meet her,” Kelly insists. You know what? That's not surprising to hear. Kelly continues: “She's just an awesome, awesome person.” Shannon's recently aired outburst in Jamaica was the exception, not the rule. Andy then comments about how it's been a real treat to watch Kelly and Shannon's relationship develop. The two of them are now real friends.  Once upon a time, Shannon didn't really give Kelly the time of day. Now, things have really changed. “I just talked to her tonight,” Kelly mentions as an example. Earlier in October, Shannon explained why she didn't start to instantly become friends with Emily or Gina or other new Housewives. “I will admit,” Shannon says. “Because I will own my part — that I don’t like change.” “When two new girls come in and they’re almost half my age, it’s like, OK …” she explains. “We don’t have that much in common,” Shannon reasons. “So you get to a point where you have to prioritize.” “I have a business, I have three kids on my own, and I’m going through things that are taking up my time,” she points out. “So,” Shannon asks. “Should I put those aside so I can spend time with a 32-year-old?” First of all, shout-out to Shannon Beador for making a lot of us feel young by thinking she can't even  relate  to a woman in her thirties. Yes, Gina Kirschenheiter is in her thirties — she's 34, not 32, but that's all the same to Shannon. Emily Simpson, for the record, is about 20 years older than that. But Shannon wasn't only citing age. For the most part, she just has a lot on her plate. And, as Kelly says, she doesn't make friends instantly.
