Guillermo Del Toro Confirms He Was Asked To Helm ‘Star Wars: Episode 7’

Brace yourselves, people: in an alternate galaxy far, far away, there is a Guillermo Del Toro -helmed Star Wars film in development. Rampant speculation being the most powerful side effect of the Living Force, it’s no wonder that last year’s shocking news that we’ll soon all be watching – and probably complaining about – Star Wars: Episode 7 has resulted in endless guessing from the Jeditariat. When we’re not gushing about possible plot points, or the fact that the new film might feature a female lead . We’re talking about the most common subject of baseless and not-so-baseless guesswork: Just who will be directing it? With George Lucas retiring, the possibility of a somewhat clean slate for the Star Wars universe after the mess made of it by the prequel trilogy is enough to make even the most bitter ex-fan drool. In the weeks after the initial announcement of Episode 7 , several directors were consistently mentioned as potential hirees. At the time it seemed like nothing more than wish fulfillment fantasies and baseless rumor, but it’s beginning to look as though the rumored names reflected very real prospects. One of the most frequently mentioned names was Pan’s Labyrinth and Pacific Rim director Guillermo Del Toro. In November, Del Toro outright denied having been approached by Disney, but speaking this week to The Playlist he finally confirmed that he was, in fact, asked if he’d like the job. “We got one phone call to my agent saying, ‘Is Guillermo interested?’,” the director said. “And basically I have so much stuff already of my own, and I’m pursuing stuff that I’m generating already…” He offered no other comment, aside from affirming that he’d love to see Brad Bird take the job, but in saying no to Star Wars , Del Toro is in good company. JJ Abrams recently revealed that he, too, turned down the chance to take over Star Wars , in his case because, as he put it, he’s too big a fan to want to do anything more than watch the new films in theaters. Whether true or not, it’s interesting that now two of the most obvious names-out-of-a-hat have said no to Star Wars 7 . Though Episode 7 is almost certainly racing into preproduction, Disney has not yet announced a director. Whether this is because they haven’t hired one, or because the same CIA-levels of secrecy they employed to keep the purchase of the franchise a secret for more than a year are in full force now, I prefer to believe that the will of The Force is behind everything. Eminem On Odd Future: ‘The Dudes Can Rhyme’

“It feels like they’re pushing boundaries and buttons,” Eminem tells MTV News. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Eminem Eminem has been known to cause a stir or two. From rapping about killing his daughter’s mother on ” ’97 Bonnie & Clyde” to being deemed homophobic by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, Slim Shady has courted his share of controversy over the years. Lately, L.A. collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All and their profanity-flinging frontman, Tyler, the Creator, have been drawing comparisons to Marshall, but what does Slim think of OFWGKTA? “I think that from the stuff that I’ve heard — I haven’t heard a lot from them, I still have to go check out everything that they’re doing — but I’ve heard enough to know that it feels like they’re pushing boundaries and buttons, and that’s definitely one of the things that I’m familiar with, especially when I first came out,” Eminem told Sway on the set of Bad Meets Evil’s “Fast Lane” video in Detroit. “I love it, I love the fact that they’re doing that. And the dudes can rhyme.” Eminem’s Bad Meets Evil partner Royce Da 5’9″ is a fan as well, particularly of OF’s R&B portion. “I’m a big Frank Ocean fan,” he said. “I’m feelin’ the whole group. I’m with Em, though — I haven’t heard enough of them. I heard more Frank Ocean, for some reason. It seems like he’s standing out, for some reason.” When in his creative zone, as he has been lately, Em finds it hard to keep up with rap’s newcomers. “If somebody has got a buzz and somebody is making noise, I’ll go check ’em out. Sometimes I’m late getting to the party, sometimes I’m right on top of it as it’s happening. It’s hard, I think, when you’re creating music and you’re in the lab like me and him are a lot.” Related Videos The Wonderful Adventures Of Odd Future At SXSW 2011 ‘RapFix Live’ With Eminem And Royce Da 5’9″ Related Artists Eminem Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All

Mobb Deep Slept On Notorious B.I.G., Lost Boyz

Prodigy and Havoc tell Mixtape Daily they ‘had tunnel vision.’ By Rob Markman Mobb Deep Photo: MTV News Celebrity Favorites: Mobb Deep Hip-hop is super competitive, and sometimes rappers spend so much time trying to outdo each other that they miss out on good music. For instance, in his book, the Queens rapper talks about turning down the chance to collaborate with the Notorious B.I.G. on his 1997 Havoc-produced track “Last Day.” Back then, Pee just wasn’t a fan, but hindsight is 20/20. “A lot of the people were coming on the block back in the days when Biggie had ‘Party and Bullsh–,’ his first record, and they would play it. I wasn’t into it,” Prodigy told Mixtape Daily . “I was focused on Mobb Deep. I had tunnel vision: I really didn’t give a f— what anybody was doin’ in rap music, except for Mobb Deep and Nas and our little circle. Everything else was irrelevant to me.” So irrelevant that when Havoc was enlisted to produce on Big’s 1997 sophomore LP, Life After Death , his partner-in-rhyme wanted no part of it. “I told Hav I just really didn’t want to do that. That was my opinion at that time,” Prodigy recalled. However, the H.N.I.C. eventually decided to give the Brooklyn legend one more chance. “I started liking Biggie. After he started heating up, I started re-listening to it. I was like, ‘This kid is alright. I like, son,’ ” Prodigy explained. “Sometimes that happens in life though.” Havoc attested to a similar situation: “I definitely wasn’t checking for other people. I missed a lot of stuff in the ’90s that I like now. I just had tunnel vision,” he said. “There was a lot of dope acts that was out back in the ’90s, like the Lost Boyz. I never paid attention to their stuff.” The Lost Boyz — a rap group from South Jamaica, Queens, New York — broke out in 1995 with their hit record “Jeeps, Lex Coups, Bimaz & Benz,” and though they were known for high-powered party anthems, Hav wasn’t a fan in their heyday. He is today, though. “Now, when I look back on it and I listen to their stuff now, it’s like, ‘Yo, they had that sh–.’ They always kept the party poppin’. I really appreciate their music, and I’m glad that they made it,” he said. “That’s ill that they are even a part of the era that we came from.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out . ‘Jersey Shore’ Cast Laugh It Up On ‘The View’

Snooki, the Situation and company talk about fame, season two and beyond. By Jocelyn Vena “Jersey Shore” cast Photo: Scott Gries/ Picture Group When the cast of “Jersey Shore” stopped by “The View” on Tuesday (February 23), Joy Behar was determined to dig into the personal lives of the cast, wondering just how Italian they are, if they are watching the money they are making and if they use protection when they have sex. But for most of the interview, the MTV reality stars cracked jokes and talked about their newfound fame. When Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi was asked when she knew she was famous, she quickly responded, “Pretty much at birth. Just my personality and my look. I don’t know. I mean just look at me. I have good style. I think it’s all the hair.” While it seems like Snooki gets a lot of the attention, Michael “The Situation” Sorrentino and the rest of the crew insisted that no one is jealous of each other’s fame. “Everyone gets their own stuff,” he explained, before turning down the chance to show off his infamous abs. “You know what, I really don’t want to cheapen the product these days. The brand is actually the situation.” Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio added that he’s not about to quit his night job now that he’s famous. “I’m still DJ-ing,” he said. “But now my rate went up.” Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro remained tight-lipped about their relationship status, but Jenni “J-Woww” Farley revealed that she and her boyfriend are back together. “We’re fine now,” she said. “Nobody realizes that we weren’t even together for two weeks.” So, what’s next for the cast? While Vinny Guadagnino is just hoping that season two of “Jersey Shore” takes place somewhere warm, the Situation has a good idea of what he wants to do in the long term: He’s got his sights set on Hollywood. “I got a deep belief in myself that I can do anything, so after maybe doing one or two more years of reality, if that, then I’ll move on to possibly acting,” he said. “If it doesn’t work out, then hey, I tried. I shot for the stars. If you hit the moon, you’re still OK.” Related Photos Where Should The Cast Of ‘Jersey Shore’ Go For Season 2?

Katy Perry’s Shitty Body of the Day

Katy Perry has the body that only a homo could like and by the looks of her gut, it looks like her homo may have liked her a little too much, cuz bitch has got to be pregnant. I know Katy Perry has a history of being fat and awkward looking, and I know that no one cares about how she finally successfully tricked a motherfucker with no taste to drop load in her and have it stick, but I never turn down the chance to check out a pregnant girls ass. There are a few reason why pregnant chicks are better than non pregnant chicks and those reasons are – if you fuck her you can’t get her pregnant since she’s already been done, you don’t have to deal with her bullshit cuz she’ll take that home to her baby daddy and most importantly her titties swell, along with the rest of her, but if you get her in the first trimester, she just looks like she had too much to eat at the Chinese buffet… Either way, here’s some Pregnant Katy Perry bullshit pictures….on this, the most Romantic weekend of the year, that is also the most depressing weekend of the year, and the weekend that bedding pussy is the easiest of the year….
