Fabolous Addresses Amber Rose Romance ‘Speculation’

‘I chose to really exist above that noise,’ he tells MTV News of rumors surrounding his ‘You Be Killin’ Em’ video’s leading lady. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Matt Elias Fabolous Photo: MTV News Can’t a rap star make a quality music video without any commotion? That seems to be Fabolous’ take on his new clip, “You Be Killin’ Em,” which co-stars Kanye West ex Amber Rose. If you follow the gossip fodder, the chatter is that the two are more than friends, a claim Loso denies. “We got a lot of great response and reaction from the ‘You Be Killin’ Em’ video,” he told MTV News. “The little spice of hate and speculation, I chose to really exist above that noise. That stuff, you can’t do nothing about [it], and it’s always gonna be there. I tried to bring a great visual to the video world, not just bring the same scenario.” The Ryan Leslie-produced banger is from Fabolous’ mixtape-turned-official release There Is No Competition 2: The Grieving Music EP. When a preview of the video circulated online featuring a lingerie-clad Rose in some steamy scenes with the Brooklyn rapper (including a few smooches), chatter about a potential new power couple intensified. According to Fab, however, he picked Rose (who’s been featured in other videos, including Ludacris’ “What Them Girls Like”) because the former Ford model symbolized the message in the espionage-themed visual. “She embodied the style and grace of complimenting something when you be killin’ them,” he explained. “I think she did an outstanding job as the lead lady in the video. I did OK as well. I think together we made a good duo.” Did you believe the Fab/Amber gossip? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Fabolous

The Nation: Ron Paul’s Fight For Transparency

The Obama administration condemns WikiLeaks in the most extreme terms, with White House spokesman Robert Gibbs referring to the people involved in the leaking and distribution of diplomatic cables as “criminals,” and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton describing the latest WikiLeaks revelations as an ” attack on America's foreign policy interests.” Attorney General Eric Holder talks of using the Espionage Act and other tools to go after WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Democrats in Congress echo the criticisms — with Senate Foreign Relations Committee chair John Kerry ripping Assange for having done “real damage” to U.S. interests — or simply remain silent. Some are openly working with neoconservative Republicans to come up with new laws to restrict the flow of information about U.S. foreign policy, Is anyone in official Washington standing up for transparency? Is anyone saying that we should be more concerned about the revelations of wrongdoing than killing the messenger? Yes, if you count Texas Congressman Ron Paul as a resident of official Washington. The Texas Republican who has long been the sternest critic in Congress of the imperial ambitions of presidents of both parties, rejects the notion that WikiLeaks is the problem. “Rather than worry about the disclosure of embarrassing secrets we should focus on our delusional foreign policy,” argues Paul, who has run for the presidency as both the Libetarian nominee and a Republican primary candidate. “We are kidding ourselves when we believe spying, intrigue and outright military intervention can maintain our international status as a superpower while our domestic economy crumbles in an orgy of debt and monetary debasement.” Continued at: http://www.npr.org/2010/12/13/132021734/the-nation-ron-paul-s-stand-for-transpar… added by: Dagum

Establishment Republicans Introduce Bill to Criminalize Wikileaks

New York Rep. Peter King has exploited the hysteria surrounding the Wikileaks case to introduce legislation to make it illegal to publish the names of American intelligence sources who provide information to the US military or intelligence community, according to Homeland Security Today. King has called Assange a terrorist and demands Eric Holder and the Justice Department deal with him. HR 6506, called the SHIELD Act (Securing Human Intelligence and Enforcing Lawful Dissemination), is a companion bill to a Senate bill introduced earlier this month by senators Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.), John Ensign (R-Nev.), and Scott Brown (R-Mass.). Both bills would amend U.S. Code Title 18 Section 798, also called the Espionage Act, to provide legal protections that already apply to communications intelligence to human intelligence sources. “Julian Assange and his cronies, in their effort to hinder our war efforts, are creating a hit list for our enemies by publishing the names of our human intelligence sources,” Ensign said in a statement. “Our sources are bravely risking their lives when they stand up against the tyranny of al Qaeda, the Taliban, and murderous regimes, and I simply will not stand idly by as they become death targets because of Julian Assange. Let me be very clear, Wikileaks is not a whistleblower website and Assange is not a journalist.” added by: GLOBALPOLITICAL

If Wikileaks Broke the Espionage Act, So Did the New York Times [Crime]

Attorney General Eric Holder says the criminal investigation into Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is more than just “saber-rattling,” and Justice Department officials are claiming he violated the Espionage Act. If that’s true, isn’t the New York Times guilty as well? More

NBC’s Lauer: WikiLeaks is Merely a ‘Messenger’ For Classified Material

On Monday's Today show, NBC's Matt Lauer downplayed the criminal factor in the release of hundreds of thousands of classified diplomatic communiques by WikiLeaks, twice labeling the website as only a ” messenger ” for the documents. Both Lauer and NBC correspondent Andrea Mitchell insisted the State Department “crossed a line” by ordering diplomats to spy on foreign diplomats at the United Nations. The NBC anchor interviewed Republican Congressman Peter King seven minutes into the 7 am Eastern hour on this latest release of confidential documents by WikiLeaks. Midway through the segment, Lauer raised the espionage issue: “Were you surprised to hear that Secretary of State Clinton and her predecessor, Secretary of State Rice, asked their diplomats to, in effect, spy on diplomats at the United Nations, asking for things like credit card numbers, computer passwords, DNA, fingerprints? This does cross a line, doesn't it? ” read more
