MTV Cancels Kiddie Porn TV Show “Skins”

See original here:

As predicted here in January, Skins  has been canceled.  The show has come under harsh attack by media watchdogs that have accused the network of violating child pornography laws – with the youngest actor on set being just 15 years old. The Parents Television Council called “Skins” “the most dangerous show for children ever seen,” and pointed out accounts of illegal drug use, illegal activity, pervasive sexual content, and foul language in just the first episode alone. MTV Bans Controversial Commercial From Line Up [VIDEO] Not only did the PTC call on lawmakers to thoroughly investigate the production of the material, they also targeted major corporations, urging them to pull their ads from a show that supported “underage teen sex, underage teen drug use, and underage teen alcohol use.” Man Writes An Open Plea Advising Stedman To Marry Oprah As a result, companies like Taco Bell, General Motors, Wrigley, Subway and H&R Block stopped running their ads in the time slots, causing Viacom executives to take a closer inspection as well. OMG, They’re Serious: ‘GM Says Thank You to American Public,’ Using Popeye, Animal House, Knievel References

When I first saw this video at a non-Government/General Motors site, I said, “Wow, that's quite a spoof. Who did that?” It's not a spoof. It's for real. It's posted in the media section at GM's web site. Even diehard defenders of the GM and Chrysler bailouts have to wonder what in the world the folks who put together the 60-second ad were thinking. Here's the hype for the ad found at GM's site

Newsweek Mocks ‘Poor Little CEO’s,’ Attacks Private Sector

The news media love to bash businesses and support regulation, so Newsweek’s mockery of the CEO class and claims that they accomplished nothing between 2001 and 2009 shouldn’t be a surprise. In his July 20 ” Poor Little CEO’s ” story, Newsweek’s Daniel Gross, known for his ” tea bagging ” comments and staunch defense of Obama , derided a July 12 “Jobs for America” summit held by the U.S Chamber of Commerce, the Business Roundtable, and the National Federation of Independent Business. Gross mocked the jobs summit saying it was “a little like BP holding a deepwater-drilling safety summit.” He also blamed corporate America for a “lost decade” that ended with “the deepest recession since the Great Depression.” “Between 2001 and 2009, corporate America designed the playing field to its specifications – easy money from the Federal Reserve; lower taxes on capital gains, dividends, and income; an administration that let industry essentially write its own regulations,” Gross claimed. On the contrary, the Bush administration passed the Sarbanes-Oxley Act which policed mark-to-market accounting with criminal penalties, hardly a regulation “designed” to corporate America’s “specifications.” As for the “lost decade,” the Bush Administration oversaw 52 months of job creation in a decade despite constant media assault. Gross criticized both the Bush and Obama administrations for being “remarkably solicitous” to big business and for their regulatory policies not going far enough: “What’s more, many of the policies recently put in place are quite friendly to big business.” As an example he cited one company, General Electric, ignoring the many other businesses threatened by Obama’s policies. Friendly? A financial reform bill that includes a consumer financial protection bureau and the Volcker Rule is not “friendly.” Additionally, President Obama has hardly been “friendly” to businesses, from forcing the ouster of General Motors’ CEO to his constant anti-business rhetoric .

$16.4M Fine Issued for Toyota Motors

Federal safety regulators said Monday that they intend to fine Toyota Motor $16.4 million for for failing to disclose problems with sticky accelerator pedals to consumers at an early time. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration disclosed that Toyota was at fault in failing to disclose the problems earlier, causing a 4-month delay in informing Toyota car owners of the massive recall. Toyota knew in September that it had a problem with accelerator pedals that required fixing, but failed to recall 2.3 million vehicles until January. The $16.375 million penalty is the maximum NHTSA can levy under law. Congress increased the penalties in 2000. Previously, its largest fine was $1 million against General Motors in 2004 for failing to disclose a defect with windshield wipers in 600,000 vehicles for more than two years. Toyota could face more fines in the long run. If you’re a reader who owns a Toyota vehicle, we highly recommend that you check the Official Toyota Recall List 2010 website for more information on the affected models of vehicles affected by the massive recall. $16.4M Fine Issued for Toyota Motors is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading

Toyota Sales Skyrocket

Although many had been shaken by Toyota’s mass safety recalls, extensive discounts had helped win back Toyota’s customers and made Toyota’s U.S. sales rebound in March. The Japanese carmaker saw its US sales increase to 40.7 percent last month as compared to last year. Ford had an increase of 39.8 % while General Motors had 20.6%. However, Chrysler had a decrease of 8.3%. Toyota has had to recall about more than eight million cars around the world because of the problems regarding with its accelerator pedals and brakes. Toyota has introduced huge price cuts in the U.S. The huge success in March only shows that customers somehow continue their confidence and trust in the safety and reliability of Toyota’s vehicles. Toyota is the world’s largest car manufacturer, both in terms of revenues and sales. Toyota Sales Skyrocket is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading
