Kylie Jenner vs. Kylie Minogue: Unexpected Feud Alert!

You might think that aside from their first names, 18-year-old Instagram queen Kylie Jenner and 47-year-old Australian pop star Kylie Minogue have very little in common. And you would be right. However, it looks like their shared monikers might soon be enough to land the moguls in court. As you probably know, Kylie has been marketing everything from ” lip kits ” to waist trainers to hair extensions online. With an audience of 50 million Instagram followers , many of whom would wear burlap sacks to school if Kylie declared it the in look for spring, it’s not hard to see why everything she touches turns to gold.  Now, however, it looks rapidly-growing multi-media empire has encountered its first speed bump. According to several sources, Kylie recently filed paperwork to trademark her first name so that she can go the mononym route for marketing purposes, a la Cher or Madonna. Unfortunately for Ms. Jenner, there’s another famous Kylie, who’s not willing to take a back seat to the teenage sensation. Kylie Minogue – who just got engaged to Joshua Sasse last week – has filed a legal opposition to KJ’s trademark attempt, and yesterday, the singer even threw some shade on social media, tweeting: “Hello….. My name is KYLIE #lightyears.” The tweet is an allusion to Minogue’s 2000 single “Light Years,” but it may also refer to the fact that the elder Kylie has been in the business for about 3 decades longer than Jenner. It’s not every day that a member of the Kardashian clan gets a lesson in humility, so we’re definitely Team Minogue on this one. View Slideshow: 69 Wildly Inappropriate Photos of Kylie Jenner

George Kennedy Dies; Legendary Actor Was 91

George Kennedy – the actor best known for his work in beloved films such as Cool Hand Luke  and the Naked Gun trilogy – has passed away at the age of 91. According to a statement from his grandson, Kennedy passed away Sunday morning at his home in Boise, Idaho. During his nearly sixty years in the industry, Kennedy racked up an astonishing 183 credits. In addition to his acclaimed film work, Kennedy played recurring roles on television shows as diverse as the ’80s primetime soap Dallas and the beloved Nickelodeon cartoon Aaaah!!! Real Montsters . Kennedy won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1968 for his performance as Paul Newman’s prison rival-turned escape partner in Cool Hand Luke .  Interestingly, Kennedy has a connection to last night’s Academy Awards, as he frequently collaborated with screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, whom Bryan Cranston was nominated for portraying this year. In addition to his acting, Kennedy was an accomplished writer with three books to his name, as well as an amateur pilot. A close friend of Jimmy Stewart’s and a number of other screen legends, Kennedy had a reputation as one of Hollywood’s most personable stars. He continued acting until his late eighties, appearing in The Gambler with Mark Wahlberg in 2014. Kennedy is survived by his wife and two daughters.  View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Passed Away in 2016: Gone, But Not Forgotten

Director Sam Levinson on Another Happy Day, Learning from Dad, and Ellen Barkin’s ‘F*cking Genius’ Twitter Account

In his debut feature Another Happy Day , director Sam Levinson (yep, Barry’s son) worked with a cast including actors who’ve been legends since before he was born in 1985: Ellen Barkin, Ellen Burstyn, George Kennedy, Demi Moore, Thomas Haden Church, and newcomer Ezra Miller play stubborn, dysfunctional family members who bicker, spar, and essentially fail to communicate at a tumultuous wedding. Levinson garnered the 2011 Sundance Film Festival Waldo Salt screenwriting award for penning Another Happy Day , and — like Barkin on Twitter — is proving himself to be a fearsome, perceptive, and honest voice. We phoned Levinson to discuss his father’s influence, why he screened Carnal Knowledge for his cast and crew, and Ellen Barkin’s amazing candor.
