Unholy: The Pastor Cursed The Landlord’s Firstborn Child

Source: Mongkol Nitirojsakul / EyeEm / Getty There are about a million reasons why. Perhaps people are considering the ways religion has been used to oppress people church membership across the entire nation has declined significantly . It might have something to do with people leaning into spirituality over religiosity. And being in church all my life, until today, I recognize that there is quite a bit of foolishness that transpires within the four walls of the church. There are some who would argue that we shouldn’t speak ill of the church, that we should seek to highlight the positive. While there is certainly more room to speak about all the good that has come to and through church. But if you love something or someone, you want them to do and be better. And that only comes through critique. With that in mind, we’ll be sharing some stories from church that will make you realize that the church has some work to do if they want to remain a viable entity in the coming decades. This first story of folly comes from a storefront church in a borough in New York City. This is not the church I currently attend but circumstances found me in this particular church one day. I consider myself in touch and in tune with my spirit and from the minute the pastor started speaking in this place, I knew it wasn’t where I needed to be. In fact, I had a physical reaction to being in the space. I was shaking with anxiety because I knew so much of what was happening, what was being said had very little to do with Jesus, his daddy or his homie the Holy Spirit. So I vowed never to set foot in there again. Luckily for me, it’s one I’ve been able to uphold. And after I learned of a subsequent issue from that church, I knew I’d made the right decision. Months after I’d attended and advised my friend to leave as well, he sent me a troubling voicemail. In it, the head pastor of the church, stood behind the pulpit and cursed the landlord and his family. Sign Up For Our Newsletter! Close Thank you for subscribing! Let me give you the prophetic right now. This building—because of what he did to the church, any business that come in here will never prosper. I know y’all don’t like when I get in the prophetic but I will proclaim it as a prophet of God. I release it that nothing will prosper here. It don’t matter what they put. I release it and it shall be so. Watch and see. That hair salon that will come here? Six months. That liquor shop that they got planned for? Five weeks. Watch God. It will not stand. They will always have to have a sign up there and he will never get anyone to stay permanently. It will never happen. I curse this building. I curse it in the name of Jesus. Y’all don’t like it but that’s alright. I curse it today. Then, the pastor took it a step further. And I curse his loins! Someone in the congregation shouted, “Oh! That’s what I’m talking about.”  The encouragement worked. The pastor continued, getting louder. “You mess with God and God gon’ mess with you! I saw today his firstborn will die! I curse this building by the blood of the lamb. Too long. Six years of hardship. You pay the rent and they still bother you. Six years of trouble and because of that,  I release one of the greatest curse in this neighborhood.” The crowd claps and there are sporadic amens. “I say it in Jesus mighty name.” As the pastor takes her seat, someone  laughs at the landlord’s pending misfortune. Then the next person stepping up with the pulpit quotes scripture to support the pastor’s claims, “Touch not God’s anointed. He didn’t understand, he’s going to understand now.” Text “RICKEY” to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news.  ( Terms and conditions ). I don’t even have the time to break down the levels of wrong here. Do New York landlords have a tendency to be greedy, predatory and difficult? Yes. But squabbling over money before you ultimately decide to leave a space anyway, doesn’t warrant the death of this man’s firstborn child. For those of you a little rusty on your biblical stories, this curse on the landlord’s firstborn is a reference to Moses and Pharaoh. When Moses was trying to convince the Pharaoh to let his people leave bondage, God sent seven (or 10 depending on how you count) plagues to the land of Egypt. Water turned to blood. The kingdom was overrun with frogs, lice, and flies, livestock died, the people developed boils, there was hail, locusts, darkness and lastly the firstborn children in every family died—unless their house was covered by the blood of the lamb. Even if the landlord was a true asshole, I doubt he did anything as heinous as keeping an entire population  of people in slavery. But the gag is, God sent those plagues. And He did it to prove that He was God. Not Moses. I think we all know that God is the only one who can give and take life. And a woman or man of God shouldn’t attempt to play God by cursing someone’s child over a piece of real estate. Alana Thompson: Honey Boo Boo Pretends to Snort Cocaine, Fights With Sister on Instagram Live

Earlier this week, we reported on the surprising news that the reality star who was introduced to the world as Honey Boo Boo has started high school . Now, it seems 13-year-old Alana Thompson might be growing up even faster than we thought — and not in a good way. New footage obtained by TMZ shows Alana pretending to snort cocaine and viciously fighting with her older sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon. The clip starts off in shocking fashion with Alana yelling at 19-year-old Lauryn. “Tell me what’s f–king next right now!” the reality star shouts. She then picks up a knife and begins miming the act of cutting a line of coke. “OK, guys we’re gonna have to cut off the camera really quick, ’cause I have to do something,” Alana says before mimicking the act of snorting a line. Her appalled sister can be heard shouting at her from off-camera. “Alana, quit f–king doing … don’t even f–king mimic that on f–king live!” Lauryn yells. “Acting like a f–king idiot on live, that’s why you don’t go live on your f–king Instagram.” Alana’s “joke” comes at an interesting time, as her mother, June Shannon, is currently battling addiction . The situation has become so dire that Alana has refused to move back in with her mother until she breaks up with her allegedly abusive boyfriend, Geno Doak. Currently, the newly-minted high school freshman lives with Lauryn, her husband, and her infant daughter. As many fans have pointed out, this may have been Alana’s way of lashing out and shaming June for her behavior. Or she might just be mimicking the sort of behavior she’s witnessed first hand. The family recently held a failed intervention for June , which — like many of her recent troubles — was documented for her WeTV series Mama June: From Not to Hot. Allegations about Shannon’s behavior have become increasingly troubling with recent reports indicating that June has been stealing money from Alana . Insiders say June’s daughters are appalled by her behavior and have essentially cut ties. We’ll have further updates on this developing situation as more information becomes available. Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter: It’s Over! Already!

Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter have decided to end their relationship after one years of marriage. With a kind of major catch, that is: The couple was never legally married. First, details on the break-up: “Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter have decided to amicably separate,” the pair’s reps, Scott Newman and Lindsay Maguire, said in a statement late Friday, adding along the usual lines: “They love and respect one another, and know that this is the best decision for their relationship moving forward.” Carter has already moved out of the house the two shared in Malibu, a source confirms, while both sides have been spotted without their wedding rings. Just one year ago – without any members of the Kardashians or Jenners present –  Jenner and Cartier got married in Nihi, Sumba Island, which is a luxury island resort that’s about 250 miles east of Bali, Indonesia. “It feels awesome,” Jenner told People Magazine of his June 2, 2018 nuptials. “I honestly feel like we’ve been married for five years already!” But numerous outlets have now confirmed that they never obtained a marriage license in the United States. Was this a sign that they didn’t take the union seriously and had a feeling it would’t last? Only Brody or Kaitlynn could answer that question. The unfortunate news, however, comes after tension appeared to be brewing in their relationship on The Hills: New Beginnings On the MTV reality program, Carter confronted Jenner at one point about the status of their marriage after he appeared to get a lap dance at a club. “You said to her last night that we had an open relationship,” an irritated Caryer told him as Jenner rubbed his face in annoyance. “We’re not talking about this anymore,” he fired back. This scene was likely filmed months ago, but it still may have been a precursor to the romance falling apart. Jenner and Carter met at a party in 2013 and the connection was apparently immediate. “I was going after her,” Jenner said back in the day upon reflection of how he felt. “She’s an amazing girl.” As recently as June, in an interview with Us Weekly, Jenner had talked about the possibility of the couple having children. “I wouldn’t say [we have] baby fever,” he told this tabloid, adding: “We’re at a point in our lives now that we’re not opposed to having kids, but we’re not necessarily really trying to have children right now. “I think if we do all of a sudden or accidentally and it happens, we will be very excited and ready for it, but we’re not in a rush.” The reality stars still may have kids someday/ Just not with each other.

Tyler Cameron Spends Night with Hannah Brown and You Know What That Probably Means!

We’re trying to remain calm, you guys. We’re trying not to read too much into this. But we’re not entirely sure how to react to the following news without jumping up on our couches and screaming at the top of our lungs and imagining what will happen next… … because Tyler Cameron was just spotted with Hannah Brown. On Friday morning around 10 a.m. On his way out of Hannah Brown’s Los Angeles residence. Which almost definitely means the pair spent the night together, which almost definitely means they boned, which has us SO darn psyched!!!! TMZ has published photos of Cameron on Brown’s doorstep, a seemingly very satisfied smile on The Bachelorette’s face. Hannah, of course, rejected Tyler on this week’s Season 15 finale, selecting Jed Wyatt to be her husband instead. HOWEVER, Brown learned two days  after accepting Jed’s proposal that he had been lying throughout their relationship and actually had a girlfriend bach home. Hannah prompted dumped the loser. “I am not with Jed anymore,” Hannah confirmed to Chris Harrisonin on the After the Final Rose special this past Tuesday evening, adding: “The engagement is over. We are not together. That’s not what I said yes to…When I said those things, the things I said to him on my engagement day, I thought that was my day. “I feel like that was taken from me… It’s been really hard to grapple with that, but I know that what I got is not what I ever wanted for a life partner, love that’s not built on a foundation of truth and honesty.” The entire Internet basically applauded Hannah for this decision. And then they applauded her even harder when she actually asked Tyler out for a drink on this same ABC special. “I would love to. Just tell me when, I’m there,” Cameron replied immediately to Hannah’s offer of a casual evening out. According to an insider, Hannah invited Tyler over on Thursday and he ended up spending the night. The entire night. “Tyler got to Hannah’s place around 9 p.m. and they stayed in,” a source told E! News, adding: “He spent the night with her and left this morning after 10 a.m. She walked him out to his car and they hugged and kissed. He had an overnight bag and they looked very happy together.” Tyler is still in the running to be the next Bachelor, but this possibility seems less and less likely the more he and Hannah continue their romance. Wrote Cameron on Instagram hours after accepting Hannah’s date invitation: You taught me so much about myself and pushed me to be a better man. I learned so much from you and so did the rest of Bachelor Nation. You were what we all needed as a lead. You showed strength and grace in the most beautiful way. You kept it real and gave us all of you. As one chapter closes, another one begins. The world is yours girl! Excited to see what you do with it. Yeah. This guy is a keeper. It seems like you’re constantly giving, giving yourself to the kids, spouse, work, everything but yourself. View this post on Instagram #WednesdayWisdom A post shared by TV One (@tvonetv) on Jul 24, 2019 at 3:56am PDT   Know when it’s time to take a break: We often work ourselves to the bone. Our life is consistently busy and working through our break until we are burnt out, isn’t healthy. If you work 8 hour days and haven’t take your lunch, take it. If you’ve been working every day and sitting a ton of paid time off, take it off. Reward yourself: You deserve a reward. Go get your nails or hair done. Get a massage and pamper yourself. You never know how good it feels to have someone do something for you. Simply going to grab a bite to eat can do you just fine.   Keep a journal:   A psychiatrist is great because we all need to speak out our issues to someone, that will help us see the clearer picture. Sometimes you may have the time to sit down and talk to a psychiatrist. You can always keep a journal, so you can see the vision in front of you. Exclusive: “South Side” Creators Bashir Salahuddin & Diallo Riddle Talk Authentic Black Comedy, Showing Chicago’s Hilarious Side, Support From Issa Rae & More!

Source: Jesse Grant/Getty Images for Comedy Central Exclusive Bashir Salahuddin & Diallo Riddle Interview Most everyday people only care about the stars but it’s the Diallo Riddles and Bashir Salahuddins of the very small and very white world of Hollywood that power everything we love about the talent-thirsty industry. Once upon a time (seemingly before Al Gore invented the internet orrr something like that), you never met the creatives, visionaries or showrunners behind your favorite shows, but now, more than ever before, they’re on the forefront of promo campaigns like our new favorite duo Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin who went from “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” to cultivating their very own Comedy Central show. A refreshingly authentic series about Chicago called “South Side” that’s hilarious when it’s not revealing the heart, soul and beautiful sense of community that make the city so special. Billed as an aspirational comedy, the series follows two friends who just graduated community college with dreams of taking over the world but there’s one small problem: They’re stuck at Rent-T-Own–an endearingly run down rent-to-own store that attracts the south side’s most ridiculous characters (who, in one episode, refuse to return an X-Box). Think Donald Glover’s “Atlanta” but in Chicago (which you undoubtedly will) until you realize the series has a different energy that makes it completely unique. That, and the naturally funny cast of regular-smegular people from the community sprinkled into cleverly written episodes. As fans of great TV, we loved the music, zippy editing, cinematography, relatable characters in relatable situations, guest stars (we won’t spoil it), attention to very Black details and classic ’90s sitcom feel that set the tone for an amazing interview with two of Black Hollywood’s brightest talents. How did you get your big idea to Comedy Central? [Bashir] “South Side was very organic. Diallo and I always wanted to do a show about one of our hometowns–we actually developed a couple ideas around Atlanta (where I’m from) unfortunately we hit some walls with those. And then, with “South Side,” we really looked around the landscape and tried to figure out who was filming comedies that felt unfiltered and pure and we just felt like between The Chappelle Show, Key & Peele–we just felt like Comedy Central just kept making shows where you were seeing great stuff and it felt like the comedians were really doing the jokes the way they want to do them, how they want to do them. At the same time, whenever I’m home for Thanksgiving and Christmas I would be hangin’ out with my boys and just lmao and it kinda reminded me of the friendship me and Diallo have and other friendships that he has and it’s like ‘wait a second, we have all these great, funny people in our lives’ and if you ask most people who the funniest person they know is they’ll say ‘oh my cousin is hilarious, my auntie is so funny’ and, you know, it’s like ‘well, let’s put those people on camera’ So, we really developed a show about these two guys who are fresh out of community college and now they wanna take over the world. So, you know, it’s a blue collar vibe but it’s really starring a lot of Chicago people who have not even done a lot of acting–just naturally funny people. …my wife is in, my brother is the main character, two of my boys from high school are in it, Diallo is it, a lot of our family and friends are in it… and it’s just people in our lives who make us laugh naturally and what we ended up with was this really hilarious show that shows people a side of Chicago they don’t get to see, especially the south side, and showing people that we can have fun and we can laugh and be light and silly and all those things… And it’s still as authentic as something heavier. I know a lot of Chicago-based shows deal with pretty tough stuff and it’s like ‘yea, that stuff has a place and then we also have a place too where we can have fun’ because I think there’s nothing wrong with enjoying ourselves” We have to ask this question–because, working in this space we know you had to present this to people who may not look like us -[Diallo] Oh yea! Yes! We don’t want to say the room was mostlyyyy white buttttt –[Diallo and Bashir] “It was all white!” (laughs) [Bashir] “The President of Comedy Central, you know, he’s just somebody who really gets it and came to us four years before we pitched the show and was like ‘look, I think you guys are great if you ever wanna do a show come and see me–let’s figure something out’ Sometimes people say that and what thats means–and I think this is what you’re speaking to–it means they wanna throw some names on there that’ll satisfy some sort of diversity interest but ultimately still develop something that looks like everything else and has the same tired vibe as everything else. Kent Alterman of Comedy Central was the opposite–he was like ‘no, no, what do yall really want to do and he actually championed it and supported it and there were definitely a lot of notes and things we had to figure out but every single frame of that show is our vision and I think it shows in what you saw and doesn’t feel like something that was watered down. The City of Chicago is not a soft place–it’s a hard place–and I think luckily for us our comedy is a hard, sharp comedy that’s about some tough stuff BUT they were super supportive and like ‘tell your truth’ And so, the answer to your question really is that we just made the right choice in who we partnered with and I would encourage all people who are developing projects to really think hard about who you work with because if you make the right choice the person will help you create value and broaden what you’re doing in a wonderful way And if you make the wrong choice you’ll look up and wonder like ‘what is this we made this looks nothing like I wanted to make -[Diallo]- “Yea” – so we got lucky” Do you talk to other showrunners and creators in the space? [Bashir & Diallo] “All the time!” [Bashir] “We literally just hosted Issa Rae at the Clusterfest in San Francisco and she couldn’t be more of a delight and an intelligent, genius showrunner and helluva talent. And to be able to just chat with her about the process of showrunning and to know that we have a somewhat similar background because we got our start doing web material and she got her start on Awkward Black Girl–she created it and was doing her own thing–and to know we share the DNA of people who did their own thing before TV figured us out–that was special” What would be a success, in your eyes, for “South Side?” [Bashir] “For me, I always tell people that what you see about Chicago on the news is a small piece of a very big pie and we’re gonna give you the rest of the pie. And, you know, we feel like if the city of Chicago, especially Black Chicago, if more and more people start to think first ‘hey, isn’t that the funny place where everybody is really hilarious and has a good time’ vs. ‘hey, isn’t that the place where I just saw somebody who got hurt on the news’ You know, that is beginning to move the dial in the right direction. I don’t just want people on the outside to see that and think that about Chicago. My deeper goal is to have the people who actually live there begin to also self-identify moreso–which they already do but you just don’t hear about it–but self-identify moreso as a place of joy, as a place of comedy, in the same way Harlem is all about culture, specifically Black culture [Diallo] “I’m the only person involved in the show who didn’t grow up in Chicago but, as a person who didn’t, I can guarantee you that not only will you come out of it feeling like you know a lot more about Chicago but you’ll also understand all the ways that the south side of Chicago has similarities and relationships with all the other south sides of Atlanta, Inglewood, North Philly–all the neighborhoods where we are–you’ll understand the humanity that exists in Chicago and you’ll be a lot less likely to believe lies that get spread when people say it’s all violence and mayhem” Source: Comedy Central “South Side” debuts tonight at 10:30/9:30c on Comedy Central!

Jeremy Roloff: What’s His Best Hairstyle?

It’s time to talk about something really serious. Are you ready, Little People, Big World fans? Please stop whatever you are doing and focus for a few minutes, okay? Because while we know Jeremy Roloff likes to discuss marriage and religion and love and sometimes even sex , we’d like to slow things down for a moment to discuss what really matters: Jeremy’s hair. The locks on top of this star’s head have changed considerably over the years, as Jeremy has experimented with what some experts often refer to as The Follicle Triple Play. Going back about a year, Jeremy rocked a mane that would make most lions jealous. He would often just let it all hang out and wave about, as you can see here: Audrey would often have fun with her husband’s hair in this case, making it one of the more meme-able and/or GIF-able styles out there. We mean, just look at this: On occasion, however, Jeremy would try to get this shaggy style under control. He wasn’t prepared to cut it off, but he was bold and confident enough to go try something different; to tie up a significant portion of those wild strands and to tie them into place. Yes, we’re talking about the polarizing man bun. No matter what one thinks of this look, one must commend Jeremy for being self-assured enough to at least try and pull it off. But that was back then. Now, Jeremy has ditched the length and got many of his hairs cut off. Some would say he comes across more put together this way, but others would argue that he’s lost all sense of individuality. Sure, Roloff looks handsome and everything, this side would state. But he also sort of looks just like everyone else out there. What do you think? What do you think overall here? You’ve seen examples of the three options on the table here. You’ve had a chance to analyze each one, and now only one question remains: WHICH HAIRSTYLE DO YOU LIKE BEST ON JEREMY ROLOFF? Florida Man Accused of Cutting Off Neighbor’s Penis

According to a recent arrest report, one man in Florida recently reached such an emotional climax that he broke into his neighbor’s home and committed an unthinkable act. Which is to say the following: He cut off this neighbor’s penis. And you thought you were all weird and gross and tough, Florida Man Who Had Sex with Pool Toys ! As this latest story from the Sunshine State goes, Alex Bonilla broke into his unnamed neighbor’s home in Trenton, Florida on July 14 at 7:15 p.m. — armed with a handgun. The alleged disturbance took place weeks after Bonilla caught the male neighbor having sexual intercourse with his wife this past May. That’s obviously a morally dubious act on the neighbor’s behalf, but we’re not sure if this kind of maiming was really a proportional response. But back to Bonilla, whose mug shot is posted above. This is what how the arrest report details what transpired a few days ago: “The Victim stated that the Defendant was armed with a black in color hand gun and threatened that he would kill the Victim if the Victim attempted to resist the Defendant.” The neighbor/victim then claims to police that Bonilla led him into his bedroom, “tied him up, and forcefully cut off the Victim’s penis with a pair of scissors.” The type of scissors (nail, dressmaker shears, embroidery, etc.) is unknown at the moment. Florida has become a haven for criminals who do really weird things. Bonilla is accused of subsequently fleeing his wife’s lover’s residence with the the severed penis in his possession. We have no idea where the chopped-off private part is right now. Bonilla was eventually arrested and charged with the following crimes: Burglary of a dwelling or structure while armed. Aggravated battery. False imprisonment of an adult. Aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony. Use/display of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Incredibly, meanwhile, this story actually gets even more disgusting and despicable. Officials say that two juveniles were inside of the victim’s home at the time of penis severing. The kids actually witnessed Bonilla “entering the residence while armed and forcing the Victim into his bedroom.” Due to the minors’ presence, Bonilla was also charged with child abuse which could result in physical/mental injury. As you may or may not be aware of, Lorena Bobbitt (pictured below) made global headlines 25 years ago when she chopped off her ex-husband’s penis with a kitchen knife. At least he was asleep at the time, however, and at least she used a knife and… …. nevermind. There’s no way of making lessening the pain or significance of this act, is there?

Source: Stephanie Long / Courtesy of Stephanie Long Short hairstyles on women are nothing new, whether it’s Halle Berry or Lupita Nyong’o , Black women are prime examples that we can rock styles at any length. Bria Myles recently traded in long hair for a bald do and it had us thinking about getting a cropped cut! We caught up with CASSIUS Editor, Stephanie Long , who has been rocking a short haircut for about almost a year now. However, this isn’t the first time she’s had short hair. She explained, “In 2009, back when I was still relaxing my hair, I had cut it pretty short a’ la Rihanna in the ‘Take a Bow’ video. Before that, I had the ‘Umbrella’ bob.” Long is one to experiment with her hair and after having “locs for a hot second in 2017 and not really feeling it,” she was “ready to take the plunge.” The change in her tresses led her to feel like she really came into herself and she “felt so beautiful.” She added it was “one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for myself.” Yes, it’s true, short hair is easier to manage. Stephanie shared her routine with Hello Beautiful , “I’m able to just get up in the morning, shower, throw on a cute outfit with some brows and a bold lip and I’m out the door.” She relishes in the thought, “No more wash days, no more pineappling my hair to preserve a twistout, no more hiding from rain or humidity.” If there is one difficult moment, she explained it’s the “awkward stage between really needing a cut and actually getting one is a bit annoying.” Nevertheless, even in her “rough” moments, she still gets tons of compliments on her look. Source: Stephanie Long / Courtesy of Stephanie Long And we can see why! With these fun cuts and ease of being able to switch it up, her cropped cuts are anything but boring. She found a great barber through trial and error, “I did my googles, tried one barber that was okay but that I wasn’t fully satisfied with. Then I kept looking online and eventually found the one I’ve been going to since late September 2018.” For New York girls, she shared the wealth, “His name is Tim Lord and he’s at Adrian Fanus Grooming in Bed-Stuy! I recommend him to any and ALL ladies looking to go low.” Source: Stephanie Long / Courtesy of Stephanie Long While intricate, the hairstyles are easy to maintain, with you needing a cut about once a month. “If I can’t make it that often, I turn to cute caps and head wraps. No biggie.” For maintenance, she sleeps with a satin pillow case or scarf or durag to protect her scalp and hair. She shared, “Shampoo, conditioner and a little bit of oil (I do a mixture of coconut, camellia and brazil nut) is also still very much a thing for me, especially when I’m rocking my little 4C curls.” We love Stephanie’s short haircut!
