Monyetta Shaw gave birth Monday, singer’s rep confirms. By Jocelyn Vena Ne-Yo Photo: Jeffrey Mayer/ WireImage Just a month after announcing he and his girlfriend, Monyetta Shaw, were expecting their second child together, a rep for Ne-Yo confirmed to People.com that the pair welcomed a child Monday. Further details about the baby were not available, but Ne-Yo has always been open about his love of being a dad. “[My daughter] definitely knows her worth, which is a beautiful thing. That’s something I’ve tried to instill in her from day one: understand that you are a Godsend,” Ne-Yo said of the values he’s teaching his kids. “You’re an absolute angel, and people are supposed to treat you that way. She’s extremely diva even at 10 months.” When news first broke about the pregnancy, it was reported that Ne-Yo and Shaw, who own an Atlanta boutique together, also had plans to marry. He later dismissed the rumor on Twitter: “Ok twit fam. To put all rumors to rest. Not engaged but am expecting second child,” Ne-Yo tweeted. “Mo has no rep. The person claiming to be her rep lied. Thanx for the interest in my personal. Know that the day that I DO decide to take that step you will hear it from the horse’s mouth. Much love.” Ne-Yo (born Shaffer Chimere Smith) welcomed his first child, daughter Madilyn Grace, back in November 2010 and was ecstatic about becoming a father. “Feels like I’m in luv for the first time,” he tweeted at the time. “Welcoming that lil’ girl to the world last night defined for me what ‘willing to kill and die for’ truly means. My world, my life, all hers.” Share your well-wishes for the couple in the comments below! Related Artists Ne-Yo
‘There’s not many actresses that can really inspire little girls in the right way,’ one admirer says after teen star’s concert. By Kara Warner Selena Gomez Photo: Jeffrey Mayer/ WireImage Despite the fact that Selena Gomez had to cancel her appearance at the Santa Monica Place mall last Friday, plenty of screaming Selena fans returned to see her rescheduled performance at the mall on Monday afternoon, where Gomez thanked the crowd for their support and revealed that she was “feeling much better” after being hospitalized briefly over the weekend. Following her two-song set, MTV News caught up with a few of Gomez’s die-hard fans, who expressed their love and well-wishes for the 18-year-old star. “I really love her,” young fan Kirsten Mitchell gushed. “I still love her voice, I still love her clothing, and I love everything she did. I love her!” “She’s my role model,” Brianna Akopyn said. “She’s my inspiration.” “It’s not only that she’s famous,” Alexa Kovacs added. “Obviously, we love her because of that, but she helps people, she does things for everything, that’s just awesome to me.” “Ever since ‘Barney,’ I used to watch her on [‘Barney & Friends’] and I’ve been with her since the beginning,” Akopyn revealed. “She’s such a great role model for everyone, including little girls. There’s not many actresses that can really inspire little girls in the right way, and she can.” Speaking to Gomez’s recent illness, Alexandra Pulido said no one could really tell that Selena had been under the weather. “I heard that she was sick over the radio back home where we live, she felt nauseated and stuff,” she said. “But she sang really well today, she didn’t show any of that.” We then asked fans to send Gomez their love via our video camera. “Hey Selena, I love you so much,” Pulido enthused. “I hope you’re doing better. Say ‘Hi’ to Justin [Bieber] for me.” “We love you so much,” Kovacs added. “Thanks for everything, keep it up.” “We hope you’re doing good,” continued Akopyn. “Keep up the good work, we love you.” “Congrats on Justin,” said Kovacs with a smile. “Yeah, he’s a lucky guy,” Akopyn added. Lady Gaga collaborator calls new ‘American Idol’ judge ‘a true artist.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Jennifer Lopez Photo: Jeffrey Mayer/ Getty Images Jennifer Lopez might be a new judge on “American Idol,” but let’s not forget she’s also a pop star. For her new club banger, “On the Floor,” J.Lo teamed up with Pitbull and red-hot producer RedOne. The producer tells MTV News that for his work with the singer, he thought big. Let’s face it: With J.Lo, you have to go big or go home. “I love J.Lo. I’ve always been a big fan. She’s a true star. They asked me to work with her and I was like, ‘Absolutely,’ ” he explained. “She’s one of those that I’ve always admired. What she’s done with the music and film and everything, she’s a true artist — a 360 artist. “It was natural for me to get into the studio with her,” he continued. “I’m excited about J.Lo’s ‘On the Floor.’… It’s getting the most incredible reaction. I’m happy for her.” RedOne knew that if he was going to make a smash for the star, there would be several elements involved: dance, parties and her Latina heritage. He hoped to capture it all on the club-ready track, which samples Kaoma’s worldwide hit “Lambada,” and definitely has a Latin flare. “She’s a dancer. She can sing. I was really amazed, and I had so much fun working with her,” he gushed. “Her energy and everything about her is a star, and it was natural for me to do what we did. “Of course, she’s global: She’s a global artist,” he continued. “She’s a global actress, and the music has to be global, and the rhythmic side of it or the Latin and this thing of a dancer [all has to be there]. “She said, ‘I want to dance. I want to make people dance and be able to sing with me.’ That’s what we did, and it feels good. I think we’re going to have a big one.” What do you think of “On the Floor”?
