Wiley Calls Drake a “Culture Vulture” Over OVO Record Deals

Source: Joseph Okpako / Getty Grime pioneer MC Wiley has taken to Twitter to call out Drake for “sh*t deals” when it comes to artists signed to OVO, again. On Wednesday (Sept 11), the British rapper, whose rivalry with Drake has been ongoing ever since he called the OVO cappo a “culture vulture” and branded them “pagans.” While it’s relatively unclear as to what triggered the one-sided bombardment, it seems Wiley has been increasingly irritated with OVO’s “sh*t record deals,” specifically in relation to the clearance of vocals on a song he did alongside dancehall artist and OVO-signed artist  Popcaan  as well as  Nicki Minaj . “I’m being held back cos @Drake obviously ain’t clearing @PopcaanMusic and @NICKIMINAJ is going to start her family… it’s a dead-end,” Wiley wrote [then deleted] on Twitter. Wiley also criticized Drake for showing up at the concerts of numerous UK rappers, including J Hus and Dave, as well as inviting them to join him on his own tour. “@Drake suck ya mum don’t come back to England,” Wiley wrote, before claiming that OVO will “give you sh*t record deals and you’re only there to help Drake with songs to keep him up and you down.” Drake, who has previously called Wiley “goofy”, responded to his criticism earlier this year, saying: “I see a lot and I’ll never understand how supporting somebody’s song or even going a step further and giving somebody a song or linking up… how that’s not viewed as something admirable?” He continued, “But I guess people have their own outlook on [that].” Despite the criticism from Wiley, Drake and his OVO camp are slated to release an album inspired by the Netflix reboot of Top Boy , a British based crime drama that hones in on East London’s tumultuous relationship with drugs and street gangs. Some fans speculate that Drake’s announcement of his inspiration from the U.K. based drama is what fueled Wiley’s tangent. Since his Twitter rant, Wiley has revealed his reason for taking shots at Drake. During an interview with   1Xtra Breakfast Show With Dotty  on Thursday, Wiley states that it’s Drake’s selfishness in business that has led to his disdain with Toronto rapper. “I didn’t need Drake to let me know that  Top Boy is sick,” Wiley said. “They didn’t come to us” when asked why he and other grime pioneers didn’t step in to revive the series themselves. Can’t you see what people do out here? The truth is he’s just a pagan. He knows it. And if I say it, he can’t say nothing to me because it’s the truth . . . He’s not embracing the scene, he’s doing it for himself.” Listen to the interview in full here .

Ashley Tisdale Ugly Check Bikini Edition of the Day

Ashley Tisdale is still ugly…. I used to do a feature when she was a High School Musical starlet that got a lot of hype, that would basically just call her ugly, I didn’t go so far as to highlight or put arrows to her ugliness, but I assume the 2 readers who read it understood what I was getting at when I laughed at her botched nose, or whatever. The inspiration behind my hatred wasn’t that I was an incel woman hating asshole, even though that is what the simple minded assumed….my inspiration was that she was nominated for an MTV award for being the hottest starlet on TV or something…and I was like “FAKE NEWS” and had to do my part to counter those lies… In my calling her not hot, I did give her credit for fitness, cuz you can’t just slam some girl for having an ugly face, when we’re more into her body anyway, the world needs balance…you know accept that she’s not hot, but still fuck her cuz she’s got a hot pussy or tits or whatever. She has since let herself go, this was years ago, and she must be 35 by now….but she has figured out angles and that upper stomach “AB” looking thing …while she shamelessly bikini selfies….and the fact that spellcheck doesn’t flag selfie as a word that shouldn’t exist is partially to blame for this… JOIN THE NEWSLETTER YOU ASSHOLES! Jennifer Aniston Magazine Cover Earns Ire: Why is She… Black?!?

Jennifer Aniston covers the October issue of InStyle. Considering the actress is 50 years old and still looks the way she does, editors refer to Aniston as the “Babe Eternal” on this cover, a label  over which no one has any beef. Take one glance at another aspect of the cover image, however, and you’ll likely join the many readers who did the same, shook their heads and asked… … what the actual f-ck?!? In short, Aniston’s skin has very clearly been darkened for this cover shoot. She’s nearly unrecognizable. As you can see below, Aniston is wearing a black DKNY bra in this photo, along with a Lalaounis necklace and Elizabeth Locke, John Hardy and Reinstein Ross bracelets. But it’s the airbrushing that has received a majority of the attention because, we mean…  just look at this: Wrote InStyle on Instagram, as a caption to this snapshot: “Jennifer Aniston has been a beacon of American glamour for the past 25 years, and now she’s stretching her boundaries. “In a series of five newsstand covers (just try to choose a favorite), she channels iconic beauty looks from the ‘60s and ‘70s.” That may all be true, but it hasn’t stopped many folks from around the Internet from wondering: Why does Aniston look African-American?!? “Beautiful cover, but why is she ten shades darker than she really is,” one person questioned, while another stated simply: “I don’t remember her being this dark.” Neither do we. To be clear, most complaints were directed not at Aniston, who didn’t go blackface or anything here. But instead at the people behind the scenes at InStyle. “I get that these covers are supposed to be channeling the glamour of yesteryear but that ‘glamour’ routinely marginalized women of color for white women (whether made tan or otherwise),” wrote Instagram user Patricia Birch astutely, adding: “Seeing Jennifer Aniston several shades darker than normal reminds me of that legacy. “In 2019, if you want a brown skinned woman on your cover, put a brown-skinned woman on your cover.” For comparison’s sake, here is another recent snapshot of Aniston on this same magazine’s cover: Aware of the backlash, a publicist for InStyle told NBC News: “This one shot in particular was inspired by Veruschka,” a German model who was popular during the 1960s. The publication then sent NBC News three images of Veruschka appearing heavily tanned, which they said inspired the photo of Aniston in question. Again, this also may be true. But we’re pretty sure you can’t blame the average reader for not being aware that Veruschka was the inspiration for a photo of Jennifer Aniston on the cover of InStyle. Do better, editors. Liam Hemsworth Bares True Feelings About Miley Split, Warns Against Fake News

Over the weekend, the world was stunned when Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus separated after only about eight months of marriage. Now, Liam is releasing his first-ever official, solo statement about the breakup. You can tell that he’s still reeling from the split. Their relationship has lasted, off and on, for a full decade. It’s understandable that he’s deep in his feelings. The 29-year-old actor took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message about this incredibly personal, difficult subject. “Hi all,” Liam’s caption begins. “Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated,” he confirms. (Wouldn’t it be wild if someone found out from that post and had totally missed the news for the past several days?) “And,” Liam continues. “I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward.” Liam goes on to emphasize that “this is a private matter.” “And,” he reveals. “I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets.” Now that is very interesting to hear, as we’ll explain in a moment. “Any reported quotes attributed to me are false,” Liam insists. He then concludes his caption with a warm: “Peace and Love.” That’s interesting, because a report recently claimed that Liam had spoken to an entertainment news correspondent. “You don’t understand what it’s like,” Liam allegedly said to the reporter. He is said to have then insisted: “I don’t want to talk about it, mate.” That sentiment is extremely understandable. But it sounds like Liam is claiming that he never said those words to any journalist. Miley released her own vague statement on social media in the wake of the couple’s separation going public. “Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win,” Miley wrote. She continued: “Like the mountain I am standing on top of, which was once under water, connected with Africa , change is inevitable.” “The Dolomites were not created over night,” Miley remarks. “it was over millions of years that this magnificent beauty was formed.” The Dolomites are, of course, a mountain range located in northeastern Italy. An official rep for the erstwhile couple also released an official statement. “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” the statement began. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers,” the rep continued. “They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share,” the statement affirmed. ‘”While lovingly taking this time apart,” the rep concludec. “Please respect their process and privacy.” Miley and Liam began dating in 2009, and first became engaged only a few years later. Clearly, this is hadly the first time that the two have split — one of their breakups was famously the inspiration for “Wrecking Ball.” Many fans had hoped that their getting married meant that they had worked out any issues, but apparently they hadn’t tackled everything . And the story of their separation has only been complicated by Miley Cyrus gal pal-ing around with Kaitlynn Carter . View Slideshow: 21 Most Stunning Splits in Celebrity History

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Recap: Camille Grammer’s House Burns Down

Camille Grammer’s worst fears came true on Tuesday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.  The California wildfires claimed her house, mere moments after she thought she was in the safe zone.  However, mother nature had other plans, and the wind shifted direction, obliterating her home in the process.  The other housewives were sunning it up in Provence, France during the installment, and they were upset to learn about Camille’s home.  Then there was Denise Richards, who was praying her home was safe. Thankfully, it was, but that’s not to say her Malibu neighborhood was completely unscathed.  Back in France, Kyle opened up to the group about previously suffering from anorexia.  It was something Kyle had kept well away from her daughters, and she struggled to hold back the tears as she revealed all.  Kyle subsequently revealed that she once weighed under 100lbs, and would eat a handful of almonds a day.  On a more harrowing note, she said that people complimenting her appearance made her eat less and less because she felt she had to keep the skinny figure.  Yikes, right? “I feel really weird even saying this now because I’ve never, ever talked about this, not even to my daughters, which is why I’m staying quiet because I feel weird,” Kyle began. “When I was younger, I had my own problems, but I never wanted to say it because I had my daughters, and I never even wanted that in their head.” “It started when I was 17,” she continued. “I was on a TV show, and I didn’t like — they kept putting me in these big things, and my boobs were big when I was young.” “And it was like, my sisters were tiny and cute. Everybody was blonde, blue-eyed and skinny. I said, ‘I don’t like my wardrobe.’ And they said, ‘Well, lose some weight, and we’ll put you in cute wardrobe.'”   Kyle later revealed that the inspiration to open up about her eating disorder was that Lisa Rinna’s daughter, Amelia, was going through the same thing.  “I can’t just pretend that I don’t know what that feels like,” she said. “So, guess what? I had an eating disorder when I was younger.” “People would compliment me, and the more they complimented me, the less I would eat,” Kyle admitted. “I would take V8 juice and put it in a bowl and heat it up, and that was my food. I was 99 lbs. I was like that for years.” “I mean, I remember times when I’d say, ‘I’m only gonna have six almonds today. That’s all. That’s what I’m gonna have.'” What did you think of all the drama? New Book Highlights The Legacy Of Black Cyclist Marshall Taylor

Read the original post:

A n unsung Black athlete is finally getting the recognition that he deserves. Marshall ‘Major’ Taylor —a man who dominated cycling during the late 1800s—is being highlighted in a new book, Chicago PBS reported. Taylor was the world’s fastest athlete at the turn of the 20th century in a sport for which the wheels were just beginning to turn in the U.S. — cycling. https://t.co/JBxAIygShB — WTTW (Chicago PBS) (@wttw) May 15, 2019 The book, titled The World’s Fastest Man: The Extraordinary Life of Cyclist Major Taylor , America’s First Black Sports Hero , was penned by political reporter Michael Kranish . It delves into the racism that Taylor faced while competing during that era. Due to Jim Crow laws, he was banned from participating in several competitions and endured racially charged physical attacks during races. Taylor—who at one point was the world’s fastest cyclist—didn’t let the racial discrimination that he experienced deter him from cycling. In fact, he used all of the negative experiences as fuel to push forward and understood that what he was doing was something bigger than himself; he was opening up doors for generations of Black athletes to follow in his footsteps. Many star athletes would follow suit and lend their voices to social and political issues including Jackie Robinson , Muhammad Ali , Colin Kaepernick , LeBron James and Serena Williams . “He really was a civil rights icon for his day,” Kranish said in a statement. “He wrote extensively about racing not just for his glory. He wanted to show that if he could win a fair match against whites, that any Black could compete and triumph whatever field they tried, if they were given a fair shot.” Taylor is also the inspiration behind a new art exhibit slated to be unveiled next month. Artist Kadir Nelson —known for doing the cover art for rapper Drake ’s Nothing Was the Same album—will create a bronze sculpture of Taylor that will be on display at 3 World Trade Center. Bossip Be Trippin’: We Survived “The Curse Of La Llorona” At SXSW 2019

Source: Warner Bros. Pictures Surviving La Llorona Hey party people, Alex here with another exclusive edition of Bossip Be Trippin’ fresh out the grease for your weekend thrills (and chills). Now, before we start, I urge you to bless your laptop or phone before reading about my experience at the 2019 SXSW Movie Festival in Austin, Texas (where I may or may not have been haunted by a very ashy and very vindictive Mexican ghost named Ll Llorona). For those not hip, La Llorona is a spooky legend passed down through generations that I just learned about a few weeks ago. And yes, she’s probably standing behind you right now without shoes on. But, anyway, the legend begins with a beautiful woman in love with a man she caught creepin’ ( Note : definitely not a Black man, though, because we don’t cheat) before drowning their kids and herself in a spiteful rage. Boom, the curse of La Llorona was born and lives on as a terrifying tale of “the weeping woman” who stalks and drowns kids when she isn’t looking for her own murdered kids in the darkness. Whew, it’s quite the spook fest that inspired Warner Bros. to connect her to the Conjuring universe and invite me to a haunted hotel for a press junket. Peep my lil video recap here. Pray first, though. View this post on Instagram Survived the Curse of #LaLlorona at #SXSW things went from 0 to hell nawl real quick. @wbpictures had us at @thedriskill (WHICH IS HAUNTED ). No one told me about the hotel’s spooky shenanigans until I was already inside. A little girl died in the lobby & they say she still skips around at night she didn’t come out to play when I was there, tho. She knew better . DEF a Top 5 press junket. Special thanks to @shayross for the experience A post shared by Alejandro NIGlesias (@alejandro_niglesias) on Mar 20, 2019 at 3:55pm PDT Imagine walking into a swanky hotel full of friendly people, delicious food and an open bar without knowing it’s haunted. That’s exactly what I did. And I didn’t find out it was haunted until after drink and plate #2. At that point, it was too late. I was already inside the famously haunted Driskill in downtown Austin where Warner Bros. set up a spiritual cleansing experience along with a haunted hotel historian (to basically tell you about everyone who died in the hotel). Look, I’ve never actually been haunted (as far as I know) but played along anyway and let the healer bless me with rose water and a very special egg. I also learned about a little girl who fell and broke her neck on the lobby steps that you can still (allegedly) hear skipping around. Sadly, she didn’t come out to play with me. I know because I looked for her. While some people were shook and claimed to feel presences around them, I cackled at the over-the-top presentations that continued before AND after the screening of “The Curse of La Llorona” (which I enjoyed and recommend to anyone who enjoys stalker ghost shenanigans). Fast forward to our cast interviews the next day at the (you guessed it) haunted Driskill on the fourth floor aka the most haunted floor in the hotel. BECAUSE OF COURSE. Legend has it that Annie Lennox stayed on that floor and couldn’t decide what dress to wear. Moments later, she returns from the bathroom and finds one of her dresses laid out for her on the bed. THE OTHER WAS LOCKED IN THE CLOSET. BoOoO. Seriously, if you’re ever looking for a hotel where fancy ghosts pick out your outfits, the Driskell is perfect for you.
