It looks like the Jets season isn’t the only thing Scotty McKnight has to be depressed about. Sources reveal that McKnight and Hayden Panettiere have called it quits . The duo supposedly split amicably a few weeks ago. After all, the pair looked happy when they attended the American Music Awards just last month. A source told TMZ that, “they will probably be back together sometimes down the road.” In the meantime, we suppose Hayden will just continue being hot on Nashville , while the Jets will continue to underachieve and look not so hot in the AFC East. ESPN has issued an apology after airing a graphic Monday entitled “Ben Roethlisberger ‘Drink and Drunk’” … instead of dink and dunk, football parlance for short passes. “We have to tell you this for sure, earlier in the show we had a graphic error in the rundown,” Monday Night Countdown anchor Chris Berman said. “We apologize for the mistake.” “Not sure how it happened. It won’t happen again, we’ll be back.” So … given that it’s Ben Roethlisberger, and we’re talking about two typos in a three-word sentence, is there any real possibility this was a mere “error”? Berman’s apology caught him some flak, for this reason, as well as his lack of specifically mentioning the offending words or the player they referenced. The Steelers QB was twice accused of sexual assault in recent years, though he wasn’t charged criminally in either case; alcohol is believed to have played a role. Unless you’re a Ben Roethlisberger accuser , you have to admit, that “error” is pretty funny. Wouldn’t it be great if ESPN actually acknowleged it as such? “We’re very sorry for this incident, which was clearly a joke perpetrated by production folks who are totally getting fired … but come on, it’s Big Ben, and you laughed.”

Maligned NFL bench player Tim Tebow has apparently been called “terrible” by a team member who says “no one” on the Jets wants him starting at GQ. He’s heard that sentiment a lot over the years, but usually from bloggers, not teammates. The New York Daily News reports that various members of the Jets are frustrated with Tebow’s failure to improve as a QB and have no desire to see him start. The story seems to reveal a far more divisive atmosphere than earlier stories indicate. “He’s terrible,” a defensive starter said, adding that he has no faith in a zone-read offense tailored to Tebow’s strengths helping New York reverse its fortunes. Other sources blamed starter Mark Sanchez’s woes on the receiving corps, with its lack of stars, but no one suggested Tebow replace him under center. If the Jets were to run the offense the Broncos ran with Tebow, one player said, “we can’t win running that Wildcat [stuff],” using an expletive to make his point. Another Tebow critic on the team said “nobody” wants him to be the starter. Guess no one thinks it’s Tebow Time anymore, even in his own locker room. Except for maybe Camilla Belle , she’d probably love to be his tight end.

“Mo’ money, mo’ problems” seems to be the theme today Touchdown-machine Santonio Holmes better not get too attached to his giant new paycheck from the Jets because TMZ has learned, a woman he knocked up back in 2002 wants a fat raise … in child support: Just months after Holmes signed a 5-year deal with the Jets worth nearly $50 million, a woman named Nicole King has filed a petition in Florida for child support modification … demanding way more money from the star wide receiver. King cites Holmes’ new contract in the docs — claiming, “There has been a substantial change in circumstances in that [Holmes’] income has substantially increased since the entry of the final judgment and the needs to the child have increased.” King doesn’t specify how much extra cash she wants now that Holmes is rolling in more dough than ever — but according to the current child support order, Holmes is already required to pay the woman $4,000 a month … and even buy her a house. Pity Holmes can’t also buy his team’s way into the playoffs. More On Bossip! Eff A Traveler’s Digest: 10 Countries With Beautiful BLACK Women Action!
