MTV Apologizes For Racist Eva Longoria-America Ferrera Tweet

There was plenty of controversy to be stirred by the 2016 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night. Eva Longoria and America Ferrera Present at the Golden Globes Like when Ricky Gervais confronted Mel Gibson about that whole “sugar tits” thing. Or when Leonardo DiCaprio possibly threw some shade at Lady Gaga . Or, heck, pretty much any time Gervais opened his mouth during his opening monlogue. At one point during the ceremony, meanwhile, MTV Australia decided to get in on the scandalous act. It all started when Eva Longoria and America Ferrera came out to present the award for Best TV Actor in a Drama. The actresses engaged in a very well-received bit about Latina stereotypes, an exchange likely inspired by the Golden Globes’ own mistake when the show’s Twitter account referred to Ferrera as “Gina Rodriguez” when she announced the nominations back in November. View Slideshow: Golden Globe Awards 2016: The Best Moments in GIFs! After viewing the presentation, MTV Tweeted in an attempt at humor: “Where are the English subtitles? We have no idea what @AmericaFerrera and @EvaLongoria are saying #GoldenGlobes.” The backlash came quickly and strongly, with MTV deleting the message and then offering up the following apology: “Our Tweet was in reference to @EvaLongoria & @AmericaFerrera’s #GoldenGlobes joke. We sincerely apologise for causing offence. “We get it was a bad call. We’ll leave the humour to @rickygervais.” It’s like they always say: you can joke about almost anything. But the most controversial the territory, the funnier the joke better be, Check out Longoria and Ferrera’s humorous interaction above and then drool over all the impressive red carpet fashion below: View Slideshow: 2016 Golden Globes Red Carpet: A Feast For The Eyes

Ricky Gervais Slams "Prayers" for Oklahoma Tornado Victims, Urges People to Send Money

Ricky Gervais has created quite a bit of controversy over his reaction to the reaction of other people in the face of this week’s Oklahoma tornado. The comedian – who dared to mock Justin Bieber last month – retweeted an MTV News message Tuesday that read: “Beyonce, Rihanna & Katy Perry send prayers to #Oklahoma #PrayForOklahoma.” He wrote along with it: “I feel like an idiot now… I only sent money.” Gervais then included the following hashtag/message on his account: “You can support #Moore response by txting REDCROSS to 90999 to give $10, or online at redcross.org #ActuallyDoSomethingForOklahoma.” The comedian, a well-known atheist, drew criticism for making fun of those who were praying for the victims, but he was undeterred, Tweeting again yesterday: “Praying for something but not doing anything to make it happen has the same effect as writing to Santa & not letting mummy read the letter.” Gervais concluded that “the best way to help the disaster victims” was through monetary donations. Do you agree? Which should be send to Oklahoma residents?   Prayers Money Why can’t it be both? View Poll »

Pick The Better Title For Alan Partridge’s Film Within A Film: ‘Colossal Velocity’ or ‘Alpha Papa’?

Long before the Is- Ricky Gervais ‘-Version-of- The-Office -Funnier-Than- Steve-Carell’s ? argument raged in bars frequented by comedy junkies, I spent way too much time debating similar question: whether Steve Coogan’s BBC TV talk-show spoof  Knowing Me, Knowing You…With Alan Partridge was superior to Garry Shandling’s HBO series  The Larry Sanders Show .  With The Office , I would take Gervais’ side every time, but I could argue either side of the Partridge/Sanders contest because both shows were genuinely brilliant. So I’m thrilled,  in a sour Steve Coogan kind of way, to see that the long-gestating  Alan Partridge: The Movie  will finally arrive in theaters this summer — at least in the U.K., where it opens in August &mdash. I’m also cheered that Coogan has not lost his edge as the extremely self-absorbed talk-show host.  In this teaser trailer, he discusses some painfully bad titles for what sounds like a Die Hard -meets-Alan-Partridge radio-station siege movie that, if the host has anything to do with it, will include “heavy kissing and guns.” The clip even has the makings of a new debate:  which is the more laugh-out-loud title:   Colossal Velocity or Alpha Papa?   I also quite like Hectic Danger Day  .  Leave your choices in the comments section below. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to Host Golden Globes

In what is being described by many as The Greatest News The World Has Ever Received, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will co-host the 2013 Golden Globe Awards. The close friends and former Saturday Night Live co-stars appeared together in Baby Mama and will forever be remembered for their dueling impressions of Sarah Palin and Hilary Clinton in 2008. “Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year’s festivities is a major coup,” says Paul Telegdy, President of Alternative and Late Night Programming at NBC Entertainment. “Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together on SNL to their successful co-starring roles in Baby Mama .” The pair replaces two-time hosts Ricky Gervais and the ceremony will take place on January 13. Dare we bother to ask: Will you be tuning in for it?

Madonna Flashes Swastika, Creates Controversy in Tel Aviv

Never one to shy away from controversy, Madonna once again finds herself in the middle of one. During a concert in Tel Aviv last week, the Material Girl flashed a Swastika over the face of National Front leader Marine Le Pen, the political leader who has been accused of racism amidst her extremely conservative views. Madonna Swastika Controversy: Concert in Tel Aviv As you might expect, the stunt is not sitting well with Le Pen , who has threatened legal action against the icon and who told The Daily Mail : “We understand how old singers who need to get people talking about them go to such extremes … If she does that in France, we’ll be waiting.” Oohhh, it’s on! Suddenly, Madonna’s show in France next month – where she will appear at the Stade de France in Paris and then over in Nice – has grown in importance, stature and buzz.
