Cole, etc. Essential info : CyHi Da Prynce knows what his next two projects are (a pair of mixtapes), but the Georgia rapper is calling on a higher power when it comes to getting a release date for his debut album. No, he’s not calling on mentor Kanye West; rather, the “So Appalled” star is seeking an answer in the biblical sense. “At the end of April, I want to put out Royal Flush 2 and I wanna release The Allies when school is coming back in,” CyHi told Mixtape Daily. “Those two projects, I want them to be my last mixtapes that I put out before my album. I’m speaking my album into existence this year. God says, ‘If you ask, you shall receive,’ so I’m asking, and hopefully I’ll receive it sometime soon. I’m sending a pigeon or something, even a text message.” For his debut, The Hard Way Musical, the G.O.O.D. Music artist is already a few songs in. “My album is a lot of storytelling. Super producer Danja celebrated his 30th birthday with a super sexy bash held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Tuesday night (Feb. 22). Guests were greeted by scantily-clad masked mistresses, rose petals, and flowing bottles of champagne as they entered the luxurious penthouse suite. Friends and collaborators of the super-producer including Keri Hilson, Kelly Rowland, Snoop Dogg, Tank, JoJo, Teyana Taylor, Kevin Cossom, Joe Jonas, and Busta Rhymes were all there celebrating the event. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Matt Elias Kevin Cossom Photo: MTV News For songwriter Kevin Cossom , the inspiration for his single “Baby I Like It” was simple. “I wish I had a big grand story to explain it, but it’s basically things that go on at a party,” he told MTV News from the “Baby I Like It” video set in Los Angeles. “It’s really about ‘boy meets girl.’ “We’re all out having a good time, and you see something you like,” Cossom continued. “Pretty girls in the club. That’s what it’s about. And with the video, we’re trying to capture the energy of the track. And with the song, we were trying to capture the energy of the party.” The track is the first effort from Cossom’s debut album , which is due later this year on Jive Records. The upstart signed through Grammy-winning producer Nate “Danja” Hill’s label, NARS (New Age Rock Stars). “Baby I Like It” features Diddy and Fabolous , and the video was directed by Colin Tilley (Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, 50 Cent.). With a clip in place and the support of several artists whom he’s penned hits for, including Keri Hilson, Cossom is set to make the transition from behind-the-scenes player to headline act. “It feels good. We definitely got the label 100 percent behind us,” Cossom told MTV News last year. “We did a lot of grinding on our own, and finally, I feel like I’m getting the proper opportunity I deserve and we deserve as a team.
