On Game of Thrones, Kristian Nairn simply says his character’s name all the time. But the actor said a lot more in a recent interview with Winter Is Coming, telling the fan site that he’s gay. The topic was broached after the interview told Nairn, who will next be seen on the HBO epic when Game of Thrones Season 4 premieres on April 6, that he has a large “Bear” following. “In all honesty, when you talk about ‘the gay community,’ you are talking about MY community,” Nairn said. “I AM aware of it, yeah, and I think it’s really lovely. “There’s not a day that I don’t get a few [negative] messages, but 99 percent or more are super sweet and nothing smutty at all! Again, it’s a privilege, and I really mean that.” The veteran actor added: “I’ve never hidden my sexuality from anyone, my whole life in fact, and I’ve been waiting for someone to ask about it in an interview, ’cause it’s not something you just blurt out. I’ve tried to lead the questions a few times, to no avail!” Well, welcome to the club now, Kristian. About a month ago, Ellen Page came out during a Human Rights Campaign event and said she felt “a personal obligation and a social responsibility” to help others in her situation.
