Iconic blues guitarist Johnny Winter died last night at age 70. His body was discovered in a Zurich hotel room, and no cause of death has been reported. A god among guitarists, Winter first hit it big in 1968 when Rolling Stone dubbed him one of the most skilled musicians of his time. In 2003, the magazine listed Winter as number 63 on its list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Though he spent much of his career as a successful solo artist, Johnny is perhaps best known for his collaborations with his younger brother Edgar Winter, as well for his work with blues/rock group Johnny Winter And. The latter group is remembered for the popular 1970 single “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo,” which later became a Top 40 hit for the band’s guitarist, RIck Derringer: Johnny Winter: Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo Winter struggled with heroin addiction early in his career and recorded the song “Still Alive and Well” to celebrate kicking the habit in 1973. A new Winter album with appearances from Eric Clapton and Ben Harper is slated for release on September 2. Along with Tommy Ramone , Winter is the second 70s rock legend to pass away this week. Vanessa Williams revealed a deeply personal secret on Oprah’s Master Class last night: She was sexually abused at the age of 10. The long-time actress said the culprit was an older cool who made everything seem “cool” and that the incident took place when Williams was on vacation with a friend’s family. “She came into the room where my friend and I were sleeping and she told me to lie down on the floor. She took my bottoms off and she said, ‘Be quiet,’ and she went down on me,” Williams admitted. “And at 10 years old, I had no idea what it was, but I knew it felt good and I knew I shouldn’t be saying anything, and I didn’t tell anyone. It felt good but also something that was not supposed to be happening.” Williams, whose television career includes a memorable stint on Desperate Housewives, said such an experience awakens “your sexuality at an age where it shouldn’t be awakened.” “Had that not happened in my life and had I had an opportunity to have a normal courtship with a boyfriend at 16 or whatever… there wouldn’t have been that shame that was always haunting me,” she explained. “It made me more sexually promiscuous and more sexually curious at a younger age than I should have been.” In 2012, Williams also admitted to having an abortion as a teenager. How did this molestation affect her past? How does it affect her present and future? “I certainly had struggles in my past. It didn’t change who I was, but it informed what I know not to do in the future or what I know to let go of. It’s a continual lesson of just not holding onto the past. “Yes, it helps inform the future, but you have another opportunity to do things differently, to let new things happen in your life. You have to embrace that.”
Earlier this week, Farrah Abraham announced that she’s opening a new restaurant in Austin, Texas, with the former Teen Mom / porn star looking to move on from her tawdry past. One clever hacker insisted on reminding potential patrons of how Farrah made the fortune she used to invest in this latest business venture, however. The website for Froco was hacked last night and images from the Farrah Abraham “sex tape” , Backdoor Teen Mom, were uploaded to the site’s homepage. One would think that Farrah’s not terribly ashamed of her porn past, as she literally wrote a book called Celebrity Sex Tape , but sadly the images were quickly taken down. And here we were looking forward to perusing 31 flavors while watching Farrah get it from every angle at the same time. Sigh. Maybe someday. Check out one of the hacked pics after the jump … Nice. The hackers also posted a music video for the Flo Rida club anthem “You Spin Me Round” under the image of a naked Farrah Abraham. (Get it? You spin her ’round to sex her in the butt. Okay, moving on.) While the hack was quickly nixed by Froco’s webmaster, it looks as though the chain didn’t back anything up (Unlike Farrah! Zing!) as its website has been reduced to blank templates and chains of code. Froco doesn’t officially launch until October (what better time to open a frozen yogurt-inspired chain than right after summer?), but we’re sure plenty of customers will remember this embarrassment for years to cum come.
