Shark Jumping: Spinner Turns Tables, Hurtles Self Over Surfer

Perhaps fed up by repeated references to bands and TV shows jumping his kind, this four-foot spinner shark decided it was time for some aerial acrobatics. In a video amazingly captured by Orlando Sentinel photographer Jacob Langston, the giant fish can be seen showcasing serious vertical leap and hang time. It happened in the blink of an eye, but pay attention and you’ll clearly see it clear a stunned New Smyrna Beach surfer just off the coast of Florida: Shark Jumping As unreal as this clip is, it’s a fairly common occurrence, and spinners, whose teeth are made for munching small fish, don’t attack people. When this occurred, a nearby surfer exclaimed, “Dude! Did you see that?” Langston actually didn’t at that very instant, but his camera did. Awesome on its own merit, and for the joke potential. This is the most blatant shark jumping since Denny came back as a ghost on Grey’s Anatomy . We’re here all day.

MTV Movie Awards: Top Five Moments You Didn’t See!

Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner greet each other with a ‘Twilight’ chest bump, a Foo Fighter invites a ‘Harry Potter’ villain out to drinks, and more. By Kara Warner Kristen Stewart at the 2011 Movie Awards Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images Given that we are MTV News, and the Movie Awards is one of our biggest events of the year, our intrepid team of writers, reporters and producers enjoy what is, hands down, the best behind-the-scenes access to any and everything that happens before, after and during the live broadcast. With that, we narrowed down a pretty impressive list of can’t-believe-it-happened-off-camera moments for you. In no particular order, here are the top five “events” witnessed backstage at the 2011 Movie Awards : Dave Grohl Hijacks Our Best Villain Interview Minutes after accepting his second Movie Award for Best Villain, MTV News was chatting up “Harry Potter” star Tom Felton about the win, where he’ll keep his award, and so forth. Foo Fighters frontman Grohl suddenly jumped into the frame and asked what we were talking about. He went on to congratulate Felton on his win with a friendly hug. Grohl ended the brief encounter by extending an invite to a visibly star-struck Felton to join him for some post-show Absinthe. Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart Chest-Bump We love it when the stars of our favorite films seem to be genuinely good friends both on and offscreen — especially when those real-life pals are two of our favorite “Twilight” actors, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. In between accepting and presenting awards, we watched Stewart and Lautner greet each other backstage with an actual chest bump, which they followed up with a friendly hug. Emma Watson Gets McDreamy’d In spite of the fact that stylish Emma Watson always looks so composed, not even the “Harry Potter” star could resist the dashing good looks of “Grey’s Anatomy” hottie Patrick Dempsey, a.k.a. McDreamy. We witnessed Watson and the “Transformers: Rise of the Fallen” actor passing each other with a smile and a nod. But once Dempsey was out of earshot, Watson turned to her rep, put her hand over her heart and sighed at his dreaminess. “Chocolate Wasted” With Alexys Nycole Sanchez For its sheer adorableness, this moment might be the lead contender for the best thing we witnessed backstage. Moments after “Grown-ups” starlet Alexys Nycole Sanchez nabbed her first Golden Popcorn trophy for her “I want to get chocolate wasted!” line, our MTV News team caught up with the pre-tween to get her reaction. Really, she was too cute for words. And You can see the delight in our faces in the photo posted on our a href=”http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2011/06/05/mtv-movie-awards-behind-the-scenes-live-blog”> Movies Blog as we had to kneel to speak with Sanchez. Adele Back At #1 On Billboard Chart, Pushing Britney Spears To #2

Spears drops to #2 as sales of Femme Fatale trail off in second week. By Gil Kaufman Adele’s 21 Photo: Columbia Records It’s a bit early to call it a changing of the guard, but British songbird Adele will make a strong case that she is a major force to be reckoned with on the Billboard charts next week when her album 21 retakes the #1 spot. Thanks to sales of 88,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan, Adele pulls the feat off — her fourth non-consecutive week at #1 since the album’s release in late February — while forcing last week’s #1, Britney Spears ‘ Femme Fatale , down to #2. Spears’ highly anticipated new effort suffers a steep drop-off in its second chart cycle , plunging 73 percent on sales of 75,000, for a two-week total of 352,000. In contrast, Adele has pushed past the 1 million mark in seven weeks to notch the best-selling album of 2011 to date. Also losing a significant amount (70 percent) of business in its second week is rapper Wiz Khalifa ‘s Rolling Papers , which falls three spots to #5 on sales of 59,000. Masked rap-rock crew Hollywood Undead scored their best chart debut ever with American Tragedy, which comes in at #4 (66,000), while little-known metalers Asking Alexandria come in at #9 on sales of 31,000. The rest of the top 10: Radiohead , King of Limbs (#3, 67,000); Chris Brown , F.A.M.E. (#6, 51,000); the iTunes Songs for Japan compilation (#7, 51,000); Mumford & Sons ‘ Sigh No More (#8, 34,000); and Kirk Franklin ‘s Hello Fear (#10, 31,000). Jennifer Hudson ‘s I Remember Me slips four spots to #11 as sales dip 46 percent to 31,000, while Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and former Band member Robbie Robertson scores a #13 debut (22,000) for How to Become Clairvoyant, his first studio album in 13 years. Rapper Jim Jones hits #20 with the debut of his latest, Capo (21,000), indie faves The Kills come in at #37 with Blood Pressures (13,000), and superstar DJ Ti

Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale Debuts At #1 On Billboard

Wiz Khalifa’s Rolling Papers comes in at #2. By Gil Kaufman Britney Spears Photo: Jive Make it an even half dozen. With the chart-topping bow next week of Femme Fatale, Britney Spears will notch her sixth Billboard 200 #1 debut thanks to first-week sales of 276,000 for the pop diva’s seventh studio collection. Though it’s nearly half the 505,000 in sales the singer put up with 2008′s Circus, the debut easily outpaces the week’s #2 showing by Wiz Khalifa, whose Rolling Papers moved 197,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. Among the other debuts in the top 10 are the physical release of Radiohead’s latest, King of Limbs (#6, 69,000), Snoop Dogg ‘s Doggumentary (#8, 50,000) and Mary Mary ‘s Something Big, which rounds out the new titles at #10 on sales of 42,000. The rest of the top 10: Adele , 21 (#3, 94,000), Chris Brown , F.A.M.E. (#4, 91,000, down 66 percent), Songs for Japan (#5, 71,000), Jennifer Hudson , I Remember Me (#7, down 66 percent) and Kirk Franklin , Hello Fear (#9, 46,000). After debuting at #4 last week, the Strokes take a bit of a dive down to #18, as sales of Angles leveled off by 76 percent to 21,000. The hard-charging soundtrack to the critically panned fantasy film “Sucker Punch” actually rises nine spots in its second week to #22 on sales of 20,000. The soundtrack to the “Grey’s Anatomy: The Musical Event” episode comes in at #24 (19,000), while Sum 41 ‘s Screaming Bloody Murder inches on to the charts at #31 (15,000) and Panic! at the Disco plunge 25 places in week two to #32 with Vices & Virtues (15,000). A number of indie darlings also make their chart debuts, including the Mountain Goats with All Eternals Deck (#71, 9,000), the Pains of Being Pure at Heart , Belong (#91, 6,000) and Peter Bjorn and John , Gimme Some (#108, 6,000). Britney also tops the iTunes albums chart, edging out the Songs for Japan compilation, followed by Khalifa, Adele, the “Grey’s Anatomy” album, Mumford & Sons ‘ Sigh No More and albums by Brown, Radiohead, the self-titled effort from Sara Ramirez and the “Sucker Punch” soundtrack. Black Eyed Peas rule the iTunes singles chart with “Just Can’t Get Enough,” winning out over Katy Perry ‘s “E.T.,” Rihanna ‘s “S&M,” Perry’s “E.T.” without Kanye West, then Khalifa’s “No Sleep,” Brown’s “Look at Me Now,” Jennifer Lopez ‘s “On the Floor,” Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep,” Cee Lo Green ‘s “Forget You” and Lady Gaga ‘s “Born This Way.” Next week will see new albums from Foo Fighters , TV on the Radio , Paul Simon and Jessie J . ‘American Idol’ Is TV’s Top-Earning Series

Show raked in $7.1 million per half hour in 2010, while ‘Two and a Half Men’ comes in at #2. By Gil Kaufman Ryan Seacrest, Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson Photo: Tony Duran/ FOX Last year was a rocky one for “American Idol.” From the turmoil on the judging panel with uncomfortable short-timer Ellen DeGeneres (and the firing of Kara DioGuardi) to lackluster winner Lee DeWyze and the eventual departure of lead judge Simon Cowell, you’d think “Idol” would have suffered as a result. But, according to Forbes magazine, not only did “Idol” retain its ratings crown in 2010, it was also the biggest moneymaker on TV. The show brought in an astounding $7.11 million per half hour for the Fox network according to estimates tallied by the financial magazine. As big a number as that is, the figure was actually a 12 percent drop from 2009, but still enough to top the Forbes list of TV cash cows. Despite fears that the nearly wholesale changes on the judging panel and the debut of untested TV stars Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez at the desk might throw the ratings for “Idol” off this season, so far the show is holding steady. After initial ratings slumps in the audition episodes, the show is now down just 1 percent for the season and appears to be rebounding to its former heights. “Idol” was far-and-away the list leader on the Forbes tally, followed by the troubled “Two and a Half Men,” whose 2010 shows earned $2.89 million per half hour in what will now be remembered as former star Charlie Sheen’s final full season. Forbes predicted it will be hard to keep those numbers up without polarizing star Sheen, whom producers are reportedly looking to replace. The rest of the list includes: “Desperate Housewives” ($2.74 million), “Grey’s Anatomy” ($2.67 million), “Dancing With the Stars” ($2.67 million), “Lost” ($2.60 million), “The Big Bang Theory” ($2.50 million), “24″ ($2.45 million), “Private Practice” ($2.32 million) and “Mike & Molly” ($2.11 million). Kate Middleton Wedding Outfit: Did She Boob?

Last month, a tabloid pretended that Kate Middleton was in crisis , mostly due to a few leaked photos that depicted her family in an embarrassing situation. But this story is very real, and very troubling: the princess-to-be was spotted at a wedding in Boroughbridge, donning an ensemble that many in the British press considered too revealing. Based on the sheer top above, British newspaper News of the World wondered if William’s fiancee went bra-lass, headlining a front-page article with: “Did Kate Boob?” It’s a pressing question, one answered by Royal Watcher Katie Nicholl, who told Us Weekly : “Kate doesn’t have a stylist, so she is making her own fashion decisions at the moment. The outfit could be considered racy, but it was also beautiful and elegant.” Do you agree? Or did Middleton cross a line?
