The Voice Recap: Did Adam Levine Make a Mistake?

Two of Adam Levine’s acts were in the bottom three on Monday night’s episode of The Voice, and it injected a nice dose of drama into things.  Reagan Strange and DeAndre Nico shared some time in the bottom three with Blake Sheldon’s Dave Fenley.  Things took an explosive turn when it was revealed that Reagan Strange was unwell and would not be able to sing for the Instant Save.  Viewers were still able to vote for her meaning that she could be sent home if she did not garner enough votes. Yes, it was a bizarre twist in the tale, but that was not the end of it.  Adam then went on to use every single moment he could to plug Reagan and get viewers to vote for her. He even went as far as doing so right after DeAndre’s performance.  “There is an unbelievably talented little girl right now who is not able to fight for her position on this show,” Adam said. “The thought of breaking her heart by not urging everyone to give this girl a shot to go and redeem herself next week would be too far beneath me.” In any case, Dave and DeAndre got to perform one last time while Reagan spent the results show backstage.  Dave went with “Amazed,” and you could tell he was rattled by being in the bottom three. As much as he tried to sing, he was nervous, and his performance was a pitchy mess.  DeAndre’s rendition of “All of Me” was not much better. He’s been in the bottom several times, and given that Adam was legit plugging Reagan at every turn, there was really no hope for him.  In the end, Deandre and Dave were eliminated, meaning Reagan got to sing another day … despite not performing in the results show.  Yikes.  Kirk Jay (Team Blake), Kennedy Holmes (Team Jennifer), MaKenzie Thomas (Team Jennifer), Chevel Shepherd (Team Kelly), Sarah Grace (Team Kelly), Chris Kroeze (Team Blake and  Kymberli Joye (Team Kelly) were all sent to safety earlier in the episode.  Adam’s actions will likely stir up a lot of angst from fans, but is this the beginning of the end for Reagan?
