In 2012 Diddy will be attempting to expand his liquor empire by creating his own brand of tequila. “There isn’t one particular tequila that I love and I’ve been spending a lot of time in Mexico,” Combs told me today while promoting his recently released second Rat Pack-inspired commercial for Cîroc vodka. “So in the next year, you will probably see me going toe to toe with John Paul [Jones DeJoria], who owns Patrón,” he added. “I’ll be challenging him to who makes the best, smoothest and most authentic tequila in the world.” Combs is keeping a lid on details, but says he’ll partner with a “true tequila artiste.” The music mogul will still continue to promote his premium brand vodka, Ciroc.
