For Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, it’s all about putting family first and being by each other’s side. Sounds cliche, but it really does work. For nearly 15 years, in their case. “We make the effort to always put the family first,” Smith said at last weekend’s Men in Black III premiere in New York City. “Being there for each other and being present with our kids … I take being a parent very seriously.” Will is father to Trey, 19, from a previous relationship, and Jaden, 13, and Willow, 11, with Jada. He considers his marriage and children his top priority, and flew back to L.A. from New York nearly every weekend while filming MIB3 . He and Jada will celebrate their 15th anniversary in December. Despite rumors of their divorce lately – which Pinkett Smith recently said were ridiculous – Will says that, as a couple, they’re as strong as ever. “What’s helped us is being supportive, no matter what the situation is,” the actor says of his better half. “I’m so lucky to have someone like Jada.” “She’s really an incredible woman , wife and mother.” What he loves the most about her is “she is just absolutely hardcore, like she absolutely is unfazed by the weight and the pressures of life. She is so calm and cool and easy in any situation. She can bear anything, and I just love that about her.” [Photo: WENN.com]
Reese Witherspoon’s circus performer tantalizes RPattz in tragic Depression-era love story. By Eric Ditzian Robert Pattinson in the “Water For Elephants” trailer Photo: FOX We’ve seen Robert Pattinson’s side-buzzed ‘do . We’ve checked out pictures of RPattz and Reese Witherspoon smooching on the set. We’ve heard Witherspoon call her co-star “extraordinarily attractive.” Now we’ve gotten our first official look at the trailer for “Water for Elephants,” Pattinson and Witherspoon’s love story set in a Depression-era circus. The footage buries the lede somewhat: It’s a full 37 seconds before we get our first look at RPattz as Jacob Janowski. But the trailer neatly contextualizes the storyline. The film is told as a flashback, with Jacob’s 90-something-year-old self looking back on the events of his youth. Back then, he found himself in the midst of some unnamed circus-based tragedy. What happened, we don’t know (well, unless we read the book), but we have a feeling this story isn’t going to end well. The trailer waits almost another 20 seconds to introduce us to Witherspoon’s character, Marlena Rosenbluth, an elegant performer with a knack for getting horses to do near-magical feats. Pattinson is immediately intrigued by her, calling her a “beautiful woman [who] deserves a beautiful life.” The only problem is that she’s married to Christoph Waltz’s August Rosenbluth, a dark-minded animal trainer. No matter! Jacob and Marlena fall in love and together begin to look for a way to create a life with each other. But where can they go? As Marlena tells him, in the circus, “I’m a star. Out there, I got nothing.” Directed by Francis Lawrence (“I Am Legend”) and based on the New York Times best-seller, “Water for Elephants” hits theaters on April 15. Rapper pleaded guilty in Phoenix to probation violation. By Paul Cantor DMX Photo: Larry Busacca/ Getty Images DMX is heading back to jail for a year. On Thursday morning (December 16), the rapper (born Earl Simmons) pleaded guilty in a Phoenix courtroom to a felony probation violation. He was arrested on November 18 for not checking in with his probation officer, failing to submit to drug testing and refusing to undergo treatment. “I did make the effort that I could, and I appreciate any help you can give me,” Simmons told Judge Christine Mulleneaux, according to the Phoenix New Times. Judge Mulleneaux was not wholly sympathetic to X’s pleas for leniency, saying he tested positive for cocaine five times during his probation. She said he likely had an undiagnosed mental condition that he needs to take care of, and until he does so, he’d continue on his path of substance abuse. “Your criminal history goes back to 1988,” she said. “It’s going to continue if you don’t take care of your mental health.” According to The Associated Press, DMX told Phoenix station KSAZ-TV that he had been kicked out of a drug treatment program because he had a drink at a Scottsdale club during a performance. X had been on probation since July, having served four months of a six-month sentence handed down in March for failing a court-mandated drug test and testing positive for cocaine. Following his release in July, he began serving a 90-day sentence for a reckless driving charge in Los Angeles dating all the way back to 2002. In May of 2009, he was released from 90 days in a Phoenix jail on charges of drug possession, fraud and animal cruelty from 2008. Related Artists DMX
