David Letterman Extortionist To Plead Guilty

David Letterman’s alleged extortionist Robert Halderman has reportedly cut a deal and will be pleading guilty this afternoon to extortion charges. The former CBS news producer, who was accused of blackmailing David Letterman for $2 million in exchange for his silence regarding the talk show host’s sexual affairs with staff members, will reportedly be sentenced to six months in jail, four-and-a-half years probation, and 1,000 hours of community service. Which sure sounds a lot better than the 15 years in jail he faced if he had actually been convicted of blackmail.
