People Ain’t Isht: Racists Burn Down Home Of Swirl Family In Iowa

We can’t believe this kind of thing is still going on in 2013. An Iowa family had their home vandalized and burned and based on the racial slurs the vandals used, it’s all because the family had a white mom and black dad! Via NY Daily News reports : Vandals in Iowa spray painted racist slurs on an interracial couple’s home and set it on fire, police said. Shelly Owens returned home to find the house in flames. “They wrote the ‘N-word’ all over my walls,” Owens told KETV. “This is against me, I guess, and it’s a hate crime.” Owens lived with fiance Kevin Durham and the couple’s biracial children in a diverse neighborhood in Council Bluffs. “I’m very angry,” Owens said. “I’m just fortunate that my kids were in school and that we weren’t home.” The first 911 call came in at 2:35 p.m. on Tuesday. Firefighters found the bedroom in flames and smoke poured through the rest of the house. Council Bluffs Fire Marshal Curtis McKeon told the Daily News the fire was set inside the bedroom. The family dog escaped unharmed. This is a damn shame. We hope they catch the culprits. ABC News KETV

Same Love: ASAP Rocky Apologizes To Gay Hooper Jason Collins For “Homophobic Facial Expressions” During MTV VMAs

He didn’t mean no harm… ASAP Rocky Apologizes For Homophobic Appearance With Jason Collins At MTV VMAs There were many eyebrow-raising moments during this year’s MTV VMA’s most of them seem to involve sex, being damn-near-nekkid, or both! One of these moments occurred when MTV asked Harlem’s favorite fashionisto ASAP Rocky to stand side-by-side with openly gay NBA player Jason Collins to introduce Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ performance of the gay rights anthem “Same Love”. Suffice to say Rocky looked hella uncomfortable. So uncomfortable in fact that viewers and black Twitter tweeters picked up on it and rushed to their CPUs to make a GANG of homophobic memes. According to Rocky, he didn’t mean for his body language to be so…demonstrative. In an interview with The Stashed at the Made In America festival he says: “I’m mad that my facial expressions was like that because I’m not homophobic at all, and that whole thing just came off real homophobic,” said Rocky. “I didn’t really notice it until I got home and saw it. I apologize to Jason for that, because people was laughing and sh**t, and you know… I really don’t think that’s funny. I saw they were making all the memes and pictures and making fun of him. There’s people out there that think I was doing that to be funny, and truthfully I got gay people in my family. I don’t give a f*** if you gay or you not, I just found it odd that MTV wanted to stand me next to this n***a when they are talking about gay people, that’s all. You know what I’m saying?” With his flair for fashion and welcomed presence in that world, Rocky can’t really be a homophobe, right? Image via YouTube
