Kim Kardashian got engaged to Kanye West last night. Photos and videos from the event have since been released online, while Kim has posted a photo of her engagement ring and various family members have responded to the news across a number of social media networks. Kelly Clarkson, meanwhile, got full-on married to Brandon Blackstock in Tennessee Sunday. She didn’t tell the world about the event, she didn’t show off her ring and she barely acknowledged the major change in her life on Twitter. African-American Waitress: Hooters Fired Me for Blonde Highlights!

Baltimore resident Farryn Johnson has filed a racial discrimination complaint with the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights after she was fired from her job as a waitress at Hooters. The 25-year old says she lost her job due to the color her hair. Waitress Alleges Hooters Firing Due to Highlights Johnson told a CBS News affiliate that management ordered her to remove her blonde highlights because they were giving off an “improper image.” She refused and was subsequently shown the door. “They specifically said, ‘Black women don’t have blonde in their hair, so you need to take it out,'” Johnson told CBS , adding: “I didn’t see that it would be a big issue just because there were a lot of other employees working at the restaurant of other races with color in their hair. For instance, there were Asian girls with red hair and Caucasian girls with black hair and blond streaks, so I didn’t think it would be an issue for the little piece of blond highlight in my hair.” Jessica Weber is representing Farryn and said in a statement: “The law is clear that employers can’t have two separate unequal sets of rules – one for African-Americans employees and one for everybody else, and yet that’s exactly what Hooters did here in firing Miss Johnson, an African-American employee solely because she’s African-American. “They targeted her because of her hair solely because of her race.” Due to the pending litigation, Hooters says it has not comment at this time on the allegation. In August 2012, Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas came under fire when some African-Americans called her hair out for not representing their race well .

Kanye West pulled out all the stops in getting engaged to Kim Kardashian, with an orchestra performance and stadium proposal that put all others to shame. For the big occasion, ‘Ye rented out San Francisco’s AT&T Park, gathered Kim’s family and friends and directed their attention toward the big screen. He projected “please marry me” onto the screen for everyone to see. Her engagement ring is not small. By all accounts, the celebrity gossip wept with joy. If nothing else, seeing Kim Kardashian and Kanye West engaged in such fashion is going to make one heck of an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians . Just like the last time, when Kris Humphries popped the question. Will this one actually end with Kimye living happily ever after? Can they top 72 days? Will they even get married at all? Kim and Kanye began dating in 2012 and welcomed baby North into the world in June 2013. No firm date has been set for the marriage, his first. For Kardashian, it’s her third. She was previously married to NBA player Humphries (for 72 days) and music producer Damon Thomas (four years). So how long can this new union last?
