Emma Roberts is Pretty Good in a Bikini of the Day

Emma Roberts posted this bikini picture of herself on Instagram…last night and reminded me that Emma Roberts was one of the original instagram celebrities I followed on instagram early in the instagram game….back when she had very few followers in an era I consider before she was a celebrity, even though she’s been doing movies for a long time, but wasn’t engaged, getting arrested in Canada and didn’t really break through until that hugely popular Horror Story show happened…back when she was just Eric Roberts’ daughter he was too drunk to notice…. Is she hot, not really, she’s a cute little LA hipster chick, with an Academy Award winning dad you can hire to be in your movie for 500 dollars… But she is in a bikini….and she wants you to see it, so I’ll look…I like supporting people like that. On DVD: The Best High School Movie You Haven’t Seen

A big festival hit but otherwise a brash indie too grim and severe to really break out in theaters, Antonio Campos’s Afterschool is one of the best movies ever made about high school — that is, it nails the experience to the wall with a gutter spike. I’m not talking about the fun but fantastical high school movies you’re thinking of, like Fast Times at Ridgemont High , but the movies that capture the lostness, the social combat, and the pubertal angst, movies like Gus Van Sant’s Elephant , Lindsay Anderson’s If… , Shunji Iwai’s All about Lily Chou-Chou , and Tim Hunter’s River’s Edge . (I’d throw in Park Ki-hyeong’s moody K-horror epic Ghost School Trilogy and Frederick Wiseman’s High School , but maybe that’s enough adolescent hallway dread already.)
