‘The Hills’ Returns For Final Season April 27

Sixth season begins with Heidi Montag’s plastic surgery drama. By Jocelyn Vena Heidi Montag in “The Hills” Photo: MTV MTV announced on Thursday that the upcoming sixth season of “The Hills” will premiere in April . But the network also dealt a blow to fans with the news that this will be the last season of the reality hit that made household names of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, while continuing the stories of “Laguna Beach” vets Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari. “We are lucky and honored to have worked with this cast and tell their stories for this long, and we are grateful to the many dedicated fans who have stuck with us over the years,” said Tony DiSanto, president of programming at MTV. “We owe it to those fans, the cast and the show to go out on a high note. And this season will deliver on that goal in terms of drama, story, real emotion and an organic culmination of this saga.” In the final 12 episodes, kicking off on April 27, fans will see Audrina Patridge dating singer Ryan Cabrera, and Kristin Cavallari contending with rumors of drug abuse. The show will also examine several other unanswered questions from season five: Will Kristin and Justin Bobby last? Was that really the last time Audrina and Justin Bobby will ever speak to each other? Will Brody actually break up with Jayde? And will Heidi and Spencer ever have a baby Speidi? Given that this is the last season, those issues are sure to get even more dramatic leading up to the finale. “I think we’ve told the story of struggle and of finding yourself in L.A.,” creator Adam DiVello said. “A lot of these kids have found themselves and have certainly embarked on different careers and different paths.” Indeed, many of the events of the past few months find their way into the season, including Heidi Montag’s plastic surgery, the results of which she shows to her mother in the first episode. “We tell the whole story,” DiVello said. “We pick right up where Heidi goes and sees her parents. And our cameras are there that minute the mother opens the door and sees her daughter for the first time.” Executive producer Liz Gateley added, “It’s a really touching but heartbreaking scene to watch.” But with the show coming to an end, will its former star LC stop in to say goodbye? “I always joked it would be nice to see Lauren get married,” DiVello said. What do you think will happen in the final season of “The Hills”? Let us know in the comments below! “The Hills: Final Season” premieres on April 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT followed by “The City” at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato And Joe Jonas Take Over ‘American Idol’

This week’s mentor sings ‘When I Look at You’ while the new couple tackle ‘Make a Wave.’ By Katie Byrne Miley Cyrus on “American Idol” Wednesday Photo: Fox On Tuesday night, Miley Cyrus dished out advice to the “American Idol” contestants to maximize their performances. On Wednesday night (March 24), however, the Disney princess took the stage herself to sing “When I Look at You” from her upcoming movie “The Last Song.” Cyrus seemed to take her own advice by connecting with the audience and making eye contact during the dramatic performance. Dressed in a long, white-satin dress, she started out playing a grand piano engulfed in fog and singing in a hushed tone. The quiet beginning belied what was still to come. Once Miley stood up from the piano bench and took center stage for the second verse, she started belting out the song. Fitting the song’s power-ballad feel, she even did some head-banging, whipping her long, wavy hair around violently as her guitarist tackled his solo. The last line of the song — “You appear just like a dream to me” — matched the fantasy-like stage design, which included trees covered in twinkling lights. The next performers in the jam-packed results show were new couple Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato , who sang their Friends for Change: Project Green song “Make a Wave.” The inspirational track — which is set to be featured in the upcoming Disney film “Oceans” — stresses the importance of protecting the world’s water habitat. The pair stood side-by-side for the first verse before finally facing each other during the chorus, giving the audience just what they wanted. Demi even sang right to her Jonas Brother when she sang the line: “Let’s show a little love.” “Good chemistry between these two onstage right now,” Seacrest joked at the end of the performance. ‘The Hills’: Next Season Will Be Its Last

‘The Hills: Final Season’ to premiere April 27. By MTV News staff Kristin Cavallari Photo: Miranda Penn Turin The season finale of “The Hills” in December left a lot of unanswered questions: Will Kristin and Justin Bobby last? Was that really the last time Audrina and Justin Bobby will ever speak? Will Brody actually break up with Jayde? And will Heidi and Spencer ever have a little Pratt? Those questions will become a lot more dramatic during the show’s sixth and final season, which was announced by Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday (March 24). Yes, the forthcoming season will be the show’s last. “I think we’ve told the story of struggle and of finding yourself in L.A.,” creator Adam DiVello told EW. “A lot of these kids have found themselves and have certainly embarked on different careers and different paths.” Indeed, many of the events of the past few months find their way into the season, including Heidi Montag’s plastic surgery, the results of which she shows to her mother in the first episode. “We tell the whole story,” DeVello said. “We pick right up where Heidi goes and sees her parents. And our cameras are there that minute the mother opens the door and sees her daughter for the first time.” Executive producer Liz Gateley added, “It’s a really touching but heartbreaking scene to watch.” DiVello also commented on rumors that Montag’s husband Spencer Pratt had left the show. “Spencer is dealing with some stuff right now, and once he gets through that, we’ll be back to shooting with Spencer again. Bottom line is you will see him. He’ll be in most of the episodes.” Also in the show’s final 12 episodes, fans will see Audrina Patridge dating singer Ryan Cabrera and Kristin Cavallari contending with rumors of drug abuse. “When Kristin was in Miami for the Super Bowl, there was definitely some late nights for her and some speculation that she might be partying a little too hard,” Gateley said. “So we’re definitely going to cover that part of Kristin. We’re pretty much covering everything you’ve read [about in the tabloids].” And perhaps most pressing of all, will Lauren Conrad, who left the show in 2009, be back? We’ll just have to wait and see, although DiVello did say: “I always joked it would be nice to see Lauren get married.” “The Hills: Final Season” premieres on April 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT followed by “The City” at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
