T.I. Given More Travel Freedom On Probation

Grand Hustle CEO is dubbed a ‘model probationer’ by probation officer, and judge agrees. By Carter Maness T.I. Photo: Chris McKay/ Getty Images It appears the second time’s the charm for T.I. Released last fall after an 11-month sentence for violating probation on his 2009 gun conviction, the Atlanta rapper has been on such good behavior that a judge has approved an expanded out-of-state travel allowance for up to 12 days at a time. According to TMZ , the request, submitted by T.I.’s probation officer, details that the rapper has been a “model probationer” since he was released from an Atlanta halfway house last September. By following all guidelines and completing a required drug and alcohol counseling program, Tip has been granted more freedom to travel and do business in other states. The expanded freedoms come at a convenient time, as T.I. is nearing the release of his eighth full-length album, Trouble Man. “The album is about 75 percent done. We got a lot of hot, old-school, vintage T.I. records on there,” Tip told MTV News back in December while promoting his F— Da City Up mixtape. “We got those over-the-top crossover records as well, big features and whatnot that we plan on putting into play. I got one with Akon, did a few records with Rico Love. Man, I got records with just about everybody,” he said. “We just putting it together, we done did about 70 records.” Trouble Man will include features from T.I.’s ever-expanding Grand Hustle empire. In February, he made some new additions to his roster in the form of Australian rapper Iggy Azalea and British rapper Chip, plus a joint venture with Houston MC Trae Tha Truth and his ABN label. “We’re gonna work alongside each other for a common goal and release this Trae Tha Truth project,” T.I. said of the deal with Trae. “When cats [who are] cut from a certain cloth give their word and shake their hand, that’s what makes it a done deal — the ink is just a formality.” Related Artists T.I.

Whitney Houston Dead

R&B diva’s rep Kristen Foster confirms singer has died. By Rebecca Thomas Whitney Houston Photo: WireImage/Getty Whitney Houston , a multiplatinum pop/R&B singer who ruled the charts for decades beginning in the mid-1980s, has died. Houston was 48. While details such as cause and location of her death are still unknown, Houston’s publicist Kristen Foster confirms to The Associated Press on Saturday (February 11). Houston had recently staged a comeback in 2009, after a tumultuous divorce from singer Bobby Brown in 2006 after 14 years of marriage. The ex-couple have a daughter together, Bobbi Kristina. Brown and Houston battled substance abuse issues throughout their marriage, and their travails were well-publicized. But in recent years, Houston had made attempts to revive her once thriving music career only to find that her show-stopping voice had gathered some rust. At her height, Houston was the music industry’s reigning diva, releasing chart-topping albums well into the late 1990s, and earning her place as one of the best-selling artists in the world. Her unparalleled voice and All-American beauty propelled her onto the silver screen as well, with roles in the “The Bodyguard” and “Waiting to Exhale.” The soundtrack for the former film yielded a string of hit singles and broke myriad chart records as well. Her influence can be heard on a generation of young singers who cite her as an inspiration, from Mariah Carey, Brandy and Monica to Christina Aguilera and Beyonce. But Houston was dogged by her demons. In a 2009 interview with Oprah Winfrey she detailed the years of addiction and the toll they had taken on her personal and professional lives. MTV News caught up with the fashion-forward diva on the set of her new video for “Super Bass.” Dazzling in a skintight pink bodysuit emblazoned with giraffe prints, Nicki completed the look with a half-blond and half-pink wig, gold eye shadow and bright pink lipstick matching the outfit. Nicki revealed the theme behind the song during a break in shooting. ” ‘Super Bass’ is about the boy that you are crushing over,” Nicki said. “And you kind of want to get your mack on, but you’re taking the playful approach.” Gyrating atop a crystal-clear motorcycle, Nicki is clearly upping the sex appeal. The Young Money diva explained the focus behind the video: “I just wanted to do something real colorful and cutesy. This is an icy world, it’s a sexy world, it’s a playful world. Of course I have lots of eye candy for my girls and my boys,” she teased. The teasing doesn’t stop there. “We have a lot of little surprises in store for this particular video,” Nicki promised. “I would like to put out 50 videos. The videos really tell the story a lot more elaborately than just the song does.” Nicki also talked about her smash hit “Moment 4 Life” and its incredible staying power. “It’s been #1 on the rap Billboard charts and then it’s been #1 on the R&B and hip-hop charts,” marveled the 26-year-old starlet. Pink Friday continues to break records as well, with the album achieving a milestone of the most consecutive weeks in the top 10 by a female rapper. The hip-hop beauty summed up neatly her approach to the video in a few brief words. “I felt like ‘Moment 4 Life’ was like letting my hair down, but ‘Super Bass’ is letting it all hang out,” Nicki said with a playful chuckle.
