Katy Perry Inauguration Performance: Watch Now!

Appropriately dressed (or maybe inappropriately, given the audience) in a tight red, white and blue outfit, Katy Perry rocked the 2013 Kids’ Inaugural Concert Saturday. “I’m very proud to be here and to see the Obamas and the Bidens here for four more years,” Perry said during her star-spangled performance in D.C. Katy Perry – Wide Awake (Inauguration 2013) First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia were dancing and throwing their hands up as the pop star sang in honor of America’s military families. Those families, Michelle noted, are who this nation is all about. “Now, inauguration is a pretty big deal,” said the First Lady. “But I have to tell you that my very favorite part of this entire weekend is being right here with all of you.” Watch three more songs performed by Katy Perry below: Katy Perry – Teenage Dream (Inauguration 2013) Katy Perry – Part of Me (Inauguration 2013) Katy Perry – Firework (Inauguration 2013)

Y Kids Just Don’t Dig The Cars !

Generation Y Giving Cars a Pass- –Selling cars to young adults under 30 is proving to be a real challenge for automakers. Unlike their elders, Generation Yers own fewer cars and don’t drive much. They’re likely to see autos as a source of pollution, not as a sex or status symbol. Motorists aged 21 to 30 now account for 14% of miles driven, down from 21% in 1995. They’re more apt to ride mass transit to work and use car sharing services — pioneered by Zipcar — for longer trips. And car sharing choices are expanding, with car rental firms moving into the market, making it convenient for young folks to rent with hourly rates and easy insurance. Connect by Hertz, for example, is rolling out its car sharing services in the New York metropolitan area, with plans to eventually expand them to around 40 college campuses nationwide. more at LINK – – – http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/autos_content_landing_pages/1523/generation-y-gi… added by: remanns

President Obama confronted by disappointed Americans

It was billed as “Investing In America,” a live televised conversation between President Obama and American workers, students, business people and retirees on the state of the economy, a kind of Wall Street to Main Street reality check. But it sounded like a therapy session for disillusioned Obama supporters. “I’m exhausted of defending you, defending your administration, defending the mantle of change that I voted for,” said the first questioner, an African-American woman who identified herself as a chief financial officer, a mother and a military veteran. “I’ve been told that I voted for a man who was going to change things in a meaningful way for the middle class, and I’m waiting, sir, I’m waiting. I still don’t feel it yet.” added by: maasanova

CNN’s Gupta: Womb is a ‘Sacred Space’ and a ‘Safe Refuge’ for ‘Babies’?

CNN anchor Dr. Sanjay Gupta refreshingly made an implicitly pro-life argument during a report about how toxic chemicals possibly affect the unborn children: “Here in the womb, enveloped in darkness and warmth, a baby’s life begins in earnest. It is a sacred space: pristine, insulated, more than nine months of safe refuge from the world outside ” . Dr. Gupta made that statement as he gave a voice-over for the first segment of his “Toxic Childhood” special, which first aired on Thursday evening at 8 pm Eastern. CGI of a baby in the womb played as he described the “sacred space.” The anchor continued on this note in his first question to Dr. Frederica Perera of Columbia University: ” We imagine a baby sort of nice and safe and tucked away in the womb , impervious to all the assaults that occur on the body. You say, not so fast?” So Gupta twice referred to the unborn human as a “baby.” Despite this pro-life language, the CNN anchor failed to mention the liberal affiliation of the Environmental Working Group, an organization whose study he cited during the report, and how they are a project of the Tides Foundation . On two earlier occasions as well, Gupta leaned towards the pro-abortion side. During a December 19, 2008 segment , he included only one pro-life voice among several statements and clips from pro-abortion groups opposed to the expansion of health care workers’ right not to participate in controversial procedures such as abortion and in-vitro fertilization. The doctor also failed to correct former President Clinton after he repeatedly referred to human embryos as not being fertilized during a March 11, 2009 interview. Over the past year, CNN has slanted several times towards the pro-abortion position. Correspondent Carol Costello’s June 2, 2009 report highlighted a prediction by former Washington Post reporter Cynthia Gorney that there would be a “huge backlash” against pro-lifers after the murder of late-term abortionist George Tiller. CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin fretted in a November 23, 2009 column that “abortion, as the academics like to say, is being marginalized.” Earlier in 2010, CNN.com attacked black pro-lifers and anchor Kyra Phillips conducted a softball interview of a woman who Tweeted her abortion as it took place. On the other hand, CNN’s Anderson Cooper spotlighted a woman who decided not to abort her infant daughter despite her severe genetic defects during a June 2, 2009 interview .

Jillette Mocks BP Boycott Try: ‘Oh No, Now They’re Boycotting us on Facebook’

There are a lot of people angry at BP for causing huge damage to the Gulf of Mexico. As a way to vent some of this emotion, some are volunteering their help to clean up where the oil has washed ashore. Others are petitioning lawmakers to clamp down on oil companies to ensure this doesn’t happen again. However, there’s one option that has proved to be pointless according to Penn Jillette, half of the famed Vegas duo Penn & Teller.  On the June 8 broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “Imus in the Morning,” Jillette said the first thing that amazed him about the entire oil spill catastrophe was the notion of a Facebook group geared toward boycotting BP. “Well, you know, I don’t know there’s many different takes to take on it,” Jillette said. “I mean, it’s just a horrible disaster and a catastrophe. What amazes me about it is on Facebook, they just, they put this thing up, you know, ‘Boycott BP.'” Aside from hurting only local station owners, as Jonathan Berr pointed out for AOL’s Daily Finance on June 2 , Jillette explained this would likely be the least of BP’s worries considering the current circumstances. “A Facebook thing to boycott BP?” Jillette said. “And all I could think is, you know, 11 people dead, a corporation being destroyed, the biggest natural ecological disaster in American history and I picture these people on Facebook going, ‘But, this will get ‘em.’ And BP will be going ‘Oh no, now they’re boycotting us on Facebook.'” Jillette suggested these people take a step back and realize how their anger could not remotely come close to the emotions of people suffering from effects of the spill. “I mean, the idea that whatever punishment or anger people could have towards BP could come anywhere near the horror and misery of being part of that is just amazing to me,” Jillette said. “It’s amazing to me that people think that attacking a corporation is the way to get out of this. No one knows more about stopping this than they do and unfortunately, it’s not enough.”
