The Rewind: It’s Scary In The Water! The Meg Is Coming To DVD And Takeoff Drops A Solo LP

Source: The Rewind / Global Grind Global Grind’s bullies, DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius are back once again for another episode of The Rewind . Every week we get our experts to discuss the cultural happenings of the last week and then rate them from a 1-10. In case you have been living under a rock, The Rewind will always be here to get you right. Last week, Takeoff released his first ever solo project outside of the Migos. The album is titled “The Last Rocket” and dropped on November 2nd. Did he indeed take off? It’s been often said that Takeoff, although rather silent and less outgoing than his counterparts, is the better rapper of the three Migos.  Despite getting left off “Bad & Bougie”, Takeoff manages to hold his own. However, does being the better Migos rapper necessarily make him a great lyricist? DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius are super hip hop heads and they’ve got a lot to say. Landon actually enjoys the fact that Takeoff doesn’t mumble rap for the entire album, citing that “The Martian”, the album’s first track, is his favorite. While Landon, being the Southerner that he is,  is rocking with Takeoff’s latest effort, DJ Franchise is not feeling it one bit. The words “sucked” and “garbage” were thrown around a few times, actually. Landon and Franchise debate the Takeoff album and then fire off with their 1 to 10 rating. Find out what they had to say when you press play. Also, The Meg is coming to DVD very very soon. The film, which stars Jason Statham,  is about a rescue diver who has been recruited to save an underwater crew from a 75 foot long prehistoric shark known as the Megalodon that was previously thought to be extinct but ends up attacking a deep sea submersible. The film hit theaters in early August and is now set to be released on DVD on November 13th. Do you think Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise are excited to watch the film at home? The two have a difference in opinion once again. One person thinks the movie completely sucked and the other thinks it was great! Find out what they rate The Meg  and whether or not you should check it out for yourself when you watch this week’s episode of Global Grind’s The Rewind .

Yuhhh, Hoo! The #DJTakeoff Challenge Has All The YRN On Internet Going Crazy

Source: Prince Williams / Getty It seems like anything that Quavo, Offset and Takeoff do becomes a new thing in the culture. But even the Migos themselves probably didn’t know  they started something by letting Takeoff showoff his DJ’ing skills to Quavo’s “Lose It” featuring Lil Baby .   Thus the #DJTakeoff Challenge was born.   Takeoff is definitely the youngest, most reserved, most low-key member of the group, so it’s always interesting when he shows a tad bit of the personality we rarely get to see. Some even argue that Take is the best rapper in Migos — even though he was left off Bad & Boujee .   One fan tweeted , “Takeoff lives that hook lifestyle too tho, and y’all already said he the best rapper which is facts, he really the mvp, he had the squad on his back when he was like 18, 19 yrs old and offset was locked. I think he could make a better album.”  But will everyone’s secretly favorite Migo get his just due? Will we finally get to hear all the Takeoff we deserve? Well, according to recent reports, — and Offset’s mom — Takeoff’s solo album will be coming after Quavo’s. In an Instagram comment to a fan questioning Takeoff’s absence from the American Music Awards, Miss Latabia Woodward wrote, “It’s still 3 of them. Take is working on his solo album which releases soon after Quavo’s. Each of them are releasing solo projects.”   Even Quavo admitted once that each member of the Migos has their own projects in the works. He told Hypebeast , “We’ve always had music stocked up, each of us on our own. That’s how we always had worked, the previous Migos records. We always go work on them first and then one person would be on the song and then we just make each other do homework. So now it’s just like we completing our own songs” No word on when Takeoff’s solo effort will be released, but since Quavo’s dropped this month, and Cardi B announced that Offset was working on his — we can only assume that solo Take will be out later this year or early next year. But in the meantime, let’s take a look at some of the funniest #DJTakeoffChallenge videos.

Quavo & Takeoff Of Migos Slapped With Tax Liens

Read more here:

Source: FayesVision/WENN.com / WENN Although the Migos are among the top-earning rap groups in the game now, it looks like two members from the crew have kept some poor books over the years. Both Quavo and Takeoff were slapped with tax liens and combined the pair owe over $28,000. The Blast reports : On June 27, Quavo (real name: Quavious Marshall) was hit with a lien by Georgia state over unpaid 2016 taxes. The original amount owed was only $9k but has grown with interest/penalties to $14,055.06 That same day — yes, the actual same day —the Georgia Department of Revenue filed a separate lien against Takeoff (real name: Kirsnick Ball) for unpaid 2016 taxes totaling $14,348.23. The Migos have strong ties to the Peach State. The guys, who are all related, grew up together in Lawrenceville, GA and eventually formed the superstar hip-hop trio. Together, Quavo and Takeoff owe a total of $28,403.29, which shouldn’t be too hard for them to scrape together since, according to Forbes, the group pulls in $150k per tour stop. The gentlemen have yet to address the matter publicly but as the outlet noted, that should be light work for them to handle. — Photo: WENN

Migos Gets Told To Go “Dat Way” Off Delta Flight, Claims Racial Profiling

Migos Kicked Off Delta Flight Does it look like Migos got left off their flight from ATL to Iowa? It should. Because they definitely did. We all know how these airlines get down , after all… TMZ reports that Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff got booted from their flight. Now, the reason why is where Migos’ management and Delta staff seem to differ. Here’s the aftermath: Migos’ people claim that the three amigos were all in first class, tired as hell from being trap stars all day, and instantly fell asleep once they boarded. Apparently, Takeoff’s backpack was on the floor in front of him instead of in the overhead compartment — which is against the rules (we’re assuming they were in row 1, without the under-seat storage). The flight attendant told him to put it up. However, since he was asleep at the time, he didn’t hear her instruction and thus didn’t comply. However, Delta claims that neither Takeoff, nor Offset, nor Quavo managed to be cooperative. They claim that not only was the backpack in the wrong place, but they didn’t buckle their seatbelts in a timely enough fashion. As a result, the flight crew decided to return the flight to the gate and kick Migos off. They were placed on another flight, on which we assume they made sure to buckle up the minute they sat down. The group’s manager says it was a clear case of racial profiling. After hearing and seeing what went down…what do you think? Do you think the flight crew was just being extra — as they are often known to do — or did Migos get into full YRN mode and act above the jetway laws? TMZ/WENN/Getty
