Rae says that the upcoming third season of her show will pull a hot topic directly from social media and turn a focus onto toxic masculinity in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter . THR reports: What themes do you want to explore in the next season? I don’t want to give anything away! But I love black masculinity as it relates to black women. I think that’s something interesting that we haven’t gotten a chance to explore yet — and specifically toxic male black masculinity as it relates to black women. I’m trying to find a way to explore that and get a rounded storyline that isn’t preachy. What else can you tease about season three? This season is about adulting in a new way. I think we’ve watched our characters really fumble and fuck up — and in some ways in your 20s you are allowed that — but this season is about not acting like you’re naive anymore or that you don’t know better. Jewish Group Outraged At Jay-Z’s Anti-Semitic Lyrics The Anti-Defamation League, an organization that supposedly keeps its eye on bigotry and racism in the United States and abroad, has publicly stated that it has a problem with a line from “The Story of O.J.” on Jay-Z’s new album . In case you’re unfamiliar with the track, check it out: Apparently, Jay’s mention that Jewish people are shrewd investors and property owners read as offensive rather than informative. ‘You wanna know what’s more important than throwin’ away money at a strip club? Credit/ You ever wonder why Jewish people own all the property in America? This how they did it.’ The organization believes that Jay’s bars feed into long-standing stereotypes that, while positive in connotation, feed into bigotry. Think “Asians are great at math,” or “Black people run really fast.” As a rep shared with Rolling Stone : “The idea that Jews ‘own all the property’ in this country and have used credit to financially get ahead are odious and false. Yet, such notions have lingered in society for decades, and we are concerned that this lyric could feed into preconceived notions about Jews and alleged Jewish ‘control’ of the banks and finance.” However, the ADL doesn’t think Jay-Z necessarily meant to say something so stereotypical. “We do not believe it was Jay-Z’s intent to promote anti-Semitism. On the contrary, we know that Jay-Z is someone who has used his celebrity in the past to speak out responsibly and forcefully against the evils of racism and anti-Semitism. [But] the lyric does seem to play into deep-seated anti-Semitic stereotypes about Jews and money.” All well and good, we guess. But the ADL seems to be missing the fact that the song AIN’T ABOUT JEWISH FOLKS! It’s rapped out advice and observations specifically for us. Either way, we doubt Jay plans to back down from a single thing he said on the track. What do you think? Migos Kicked Off Delta Flight Does it look like Migos got left off their flight from ATL to Iowa? It should. Because they definitely did. We all know how these airlines get down , after all… TMZ reports that Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff got booted from their flight. Now, the reason why is where Migos’ management and Delta staff seem to differ. Here’s the aftermath: Migos’ people claim that the three amigos were all in first class, tired as hell from being trap stars all day, and instantly fell asleep once they boarded. Apparently, Takeoff’s backpack was on the floor in front of him instead of in the overhead compartment — which is against the rules (we’re assuming they were in row 1, without the under-seat storage). The flight attendant told him to put it up. However, since he was asleep at the time, he didn’t hear her instruction and thus didn’t comply. However, Delta claims that neither Takeoff, nor Offset, nor Quavo managed to be cooperative. They claim that not only was the backpack in the wrong place, but they didn’t buckle their seatbelts in a timely enough fashion. As a result, the flight crew decided to return the flight to the gate and kick Migos off. They were placed on another flight, on which we assume they made sure to buckle up the minute they sat down. The group’s manager says it was a clear case of racial profiling. After hearing and seeing what went down…what do you think? Dr. Conrad Murray ‘s defense team has nine former doctors of Michael Jackson on its witness list for Murray’s upcoming involuntary manslaughter trial. Among the doctors on the list is Dr. Arnold Klein , Jackson’s dermatologist and friend whose treatment of the star has long been subject to scrutiny. The last also includes Dr. Neil Ratner, who toured with Jackson in 1996 and 1997, and Dr. David Adams of Las Vegas, Nev., both anesthesiologists. Ratner confirmed that Michael Jackson suffered from a sleep disorder, but wouldn’t elaborate further. It’s anticipated that Murray’s lawyers, Ed Chernoff and Michael Flanagan, will grill Ratner about the specifics of his medical treatment. In all, Dr. Murray’s lawyers list 103 people who could be called at the trial, including a nurse practitioner, Cherilyn Lee, who claims Jackson asked her for Propofol in the weeks leading up to his death, but she refused to supply it. Lee, a nurse practitioner and nutritionist who worked for Jackson, claimed in the days after his sudden death that he had asked her for Propofol in April 2009, was served with a subpoena to testify at the trial by Murray’s defense. “Cherilyn is prepared to testify at the trial and tell the truth. Cherilyn has never spoken with anyone from the District Attorney’s office,” a source said . “She was interviewed in the weeks after Jackson’s death by the coroner and the LAPD. Cherilyn hasn’t heard from those agencies since that time.” Jury selection in the criminal trial against Dr. Conrad Murray begins on September 8, 2011, and is anticipated to take several weeks to select a jury. Opening arguments are slated for the last week of September. The trial could last until Thanksgiving, with Murray facing up to four years in prison. Despite the long witness list, Murray is the only doctor of Jackson’s who has been criminally charged in connection with the King of Pop’s death. Thoughts? Dr. Conrad Murray …
