Another singer has bitten the dust on The Voice after Monday’s Top 11 performances , viewer votes and the always nail-biting Instant Save. If you missed the latest rule change, only one contestant, not two, will go home each week … until Dec. 9, when FIVE will go home at once. Who knows where they come up with these constant format tweaks or why, but it is what it is. And for one aspiring star, it was the end. For the second straight week, the elimination boiled down to a Team Gwen vs. Team Pharrell showdown, with all of Teams Blake and Adam safe. The Voice results for the Season 9 top 11 … Saved By America Amy Vachal Braiden Sunshine Zach Seabaugh Jordan Smith Madi Davis Emily Ann Roberts Jeffery Austin Barrett Baber Shelby Brown Not necessarily in order of votes … at least we don’t think so. In any case, the Bottom Two , who performed the following songs for their lives: Evan McKeel, “Lets Stay Together” Korin Bukowski, “She Will Be Loved” Neither knocked it out of the park, to say the least, leaving it in the hands of Twitter users and the Instant Save that would spare one of them When the results were tallied (live, during a commercial break, effectively killing any suspense that would’ve been involved with the process): Instant Saved Korin Bukowski Eliminated Evan McKeel Well? Did America get it right? Hit the comments below to discuss who you think deserved to go home – and who will take it all the way.
The playoffs wrapped on The Voice Tuesday, cementing the Top 12 as we move on to the live shows next week and ending the coaching phase. Up until this point, each of the surviving singers have either won two battles and/or enough points from a coach to advance. Now that’s all over. The coaches trimmed their rosters from five to three singers for the live shows, and Tuesday’s one-hour episode put Usher’s contestants in the hot seat. Wilkins – Tell Me Something Good (The Voice) With a trip to the live shows on the line, T.J. Wilkins goes all out on “Tell Me Something Good.” 4. Stevie Jo – The Thrill Is Gone (The Voice) Stevie Jo puts it all on the line with his version of “The Thrill Is Gone.” 5. Melissa Jimenez – Halo (The Voice) Melissa Jimenez makes a bid for the live shows with her take on “Halo.” T.J. Wilkins sang “Tell Me Somethin’ Good” by Rufus and Chaka Khan, after Usher taught him a personal favorite technique for imitating instruments. Melissa Jimenez tackled a stripped-down version of a demanding song in Beyonce’s “Halo,” soaring on the long notes, but occasionally losing support. Stevie Jo went with BB King’s “The Thrill Is Gone,” full of loose blues riffs, raspy moments and falsettos, even if he held some notes for too long. Bria Kelly picked up a guitar for The Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses,” and put forth an emotional performance that while not her best, was strong. Josh Kaufman dedicated Bruno Mars’ “It Will Rain” to his wife, adding a lot of raspy high notes that the original track doesn’t have, and earning praise. Usher then announced that his three picks to advance were … Kelly, Kaufman and Wilkins! Jimenez and Jo are out. The live shows begin on Monday. What do you think of the playoff performances? Were the right singers sent home tonight, and this week and last? Sound off in the comments below! Here’s a look at the Top 12 singers on The Voice Season 6. Monday marked the anticipated partner “switch up” night on Dancing with the Stars, plus the return of guest judge and former pro dancer Julianne Hough. The results? There were none, as co-host Erin Andrews told us last week’s scores will be combined with this week’s scores. Someone’s out next week. So, this one-week “switch up” will give the celebrities and pros a reprieve. It’s the second straight such respite, really, since Billy Dee Williams took himself out of the running a week ago.
