Throughout the season, even though it seemed like these two were both really into one another, there was definitely some uncertainty on Chris’ part about whether or not he was serious about continuing their relationship after the show ends. And who can blame him? This season was Chris’ sixth (yes, sixth) time trying to find love in the Bachelor franchise, and he previously “retired” before coming back to this season of Bachelor in Paradise . But in the end, Bukowski realized that he was with the girl he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Once the reunion came around, though, Katie’s engagement ring was nowhere in sight and things seemed to be rocky between the couple. Morton said she watched the show back and thought she would see how much Chris loved her throughout the episodes, but didn’t. She admitted that she feels insecure in her relationship, and after talking it out, Chris handed her her ring, she put it back on, and they kissed. This ending was pretty up in the air for fans who followed the couple all season long, but luckily for us, Chris and Katie posted to Instagram to let us know things are all good between them. Earlier this week Philadelphia children gathered in awe around the newest addition to West Passyunk’s Smith Playground; a statue inspired by the late legendary athlete Ora Washington . According to CBS Philly , the sculpture—dubbed “MVP”—was added to the park as a part of Philly’s 60th Anniversary of the Percent for Art Programs. The statue is inspired by Philadelphia athlete Ora Washington. https://t.co/tZI3jz542O — CBS Philly (@CBSPhilly) July 31, 2019 The statue—which was created by Brian McCutcheon —stands at 5 foot 4 inches tall and depicts a young girl playing basketball. Washington, a Philadelphia native, broke barriers on both the tennis and basketball courts. While playing basketball for the Germantown Hornets, she led them to a national women’s title in 1930 and helped them earn 33 consecutive wins the following year. She also played with the Philadelphia Tribune Girls between the years of 1932 and 1942. Her athletic abilities went beyond the basketball court. Often referred to as the “Queen of Tennis,” she won the American Tennis Association’s national singles title eight times and won 12 straight double championships; marking her place in history as a sports legend. Bringing the plan for the statue to fruition was a collaborative effort between the Percent for Art Program, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Make the World Better Foundation, and Councilwoman Kenyatta Johnson . Leaders of the initiative hope that the sculpture will inspire youth—specifically young girls—to realize their dreams. “The children and teens that come to Smith Playground everyday can see and be inspired by this powerful sculpture that looks like someone in their community,” Kelly Lee , Philadelphia’s Chief Cultural Officer, told Patch in a statement. “My hope is, like the Rocky statue, MVP will become a local destination where people will come, replicate the pose, take photos, or selfies and if only for a moment feel like a MVP – a most valuable player.” Throughout the years Washington has received several posthumous accolades for her accomplishments in sports. In the 1980s she was inducted into Temple University’s Sports Hall of Fame. She also has been inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame and the Basketball Hall of Fame. Just weeks ago, Anfisa Nava dominated her her very first bodybuilding competition. But her husband, Jorge, isn’t just sitting idly by in prison and keeping up with his wife’s string of successes. We now know exactly what Jorge has been up to behind bars: In February of 2018, just two days before Valentine’s Day, Jorge Nava was pulled over with 293 pounds of marijuana in his truck. Unfortunately, he was in Arizona at the time — where drug laws are stome of the stiffest in the nation. On September 7 of 2018, Jorge began serving his approximately two-and-a-half year sentence. We all know what Anfisa has been up to since then — she’s a student and she’s dominating in bodybuilding competitions. But what is Jorge up to behind bars? RadarOnline reports that Jorge has had three different jobs since he first reported to prison. First, he worked as a garbage collector. In that role, Jorge completed 42 hours in the role. At his evaluation on March 26, he was given a new task. Within the short month-and-a-half that followed, Jorge worked as a kitchen clerk from March 26 to May 20, where he completed a whopping 282 hours. Anfisa has mentioned on Instagram that she’s been cooking more for herself lately. Well Jorge has been doing more coooking, too — but for others. As a kitchen cook, he has put in 256 hours betweeen May 20 and July 1. His most recent evaluation was on the first of July. It is not clear what his current go-to- job around the prison may be this month. Jorge and Anfisa were such a volatile couple that many were surprised that they even remained married as long as they did. ( Love casually dropping that to fans who only watch the show — ” yes, they’re still together … but Jorge is in jail” …) Ultimately, they worked on their marriage and made it work …. right up until the news broke that Jorge had been arrested. Some who have insulted Anfisa, calling her a gold digging skank who was just after Jorge’s money. Anfisa was never shy about being interested in being taken care of financially, it’s true. But now, she’s after more than that. … These days, Anfisa is dividing her time between her studies and her bodybuilding. After Anfisa knocked it out of the park at her first bodybuilding bikini competition, fans were excited. It was one thing to see her dabbling in something that interested a small number of fans. But winning? Well, everybody wants to see their favorite reality stars go out and win things. Joe Giudice hasn’t received much in the way of good news in recent months. As you’ve likely heard, Giudice may be headed for deportation and is currently being held in a Pennsylvania ICE facility. Last week, Giudice’s appeal was denied , and the former Real Housewives of New Jersey star is now left with little in the way of legal recourse. But apparently, fortune smiled on Giudice briefly today. According to Radar Online, Giudice’s deportation was delayed today so that a federal judge might review his petition for appeal. “Order temporarily granting motion for stay of removal…Removal is stayed until such time as the Court can consider the motion for stay of removal,” reads a court document obtained by the site. “We will continue to fight to keep Mr. Giudice in the United States, the only country he knows, and reunite him with his wife and four daughters,” Joe’s attorney lawyer James J. Leonard Jr. said in a statement to Radar. Obviously, that’s good news, as it means Giudice’s appeal hasn’t been thrown out completely. But these are likely tense times for Juicy Joe, as this will almost certainly be his last chance to convince a judge he deserves to remain in the United States. Along with his wife, Teresa Giudice, Joe was convicted of tax fraud back in 2015. The Giudices were allowed to serve their sentences back-to-back for the sake of their kids. At this point, they’ve both done their time — but since Joe was born in Italy and never became a US citizen, he may face the additional penalty of deportation. Earlier this week, Joe and Teresa’s daughter, Gia Giudice, posted a petition in which issues a heartfelt plea on her father’s behalf. “My father is not a danger to society, he is a warm loving man and I beg you sign our petition to give my father a second chance at being part of our lives and giving back to the community we live in once again,” the 18-year-old wrote. She addressed President Trump directly in the petition, which may be a good strategy, as Teresa starred in a season of The Apprentice during Trump’s tenure as host. But while the petition has already received 50,000 signatures, the outlook is still bleak for Joe An immigration judge who asked to remain anonymous tells Radar there’s “virtually no chance” that his appeal will be successful. Flip or Flop star Tarek El Moussa may have ruined his ex-wife’s gender reveal , but overall, he’s doing well these days. Considering the low points of his life, including a cancer battle and divorce, he’s made tremendous strides. In a new interview, Tarek says that his suffering has transformed him into a new person. Speaking to Us Weekly , Tarek says that he feels like a “completely different man” these days. “I’ve absolutely changed a lot,” Tarek emphasizes. He says that he’s experienced shifts in “How I think, how I feel, my mindset, my thoughts on things.” “I’ve completely rebuilt myself,” he reports. “And,” Tarek gushes. “It’s a very, very good feeling.” “I had an opportunity in my life,” Tarek notes. “To experience some very, very traumatic stays.” That is the weirdest phrasing, but it’s an uncomfortable subject. We get it. “From cancer and divorce,” he lists. He continues: “where divorce was debilitating to me.” For some people, a divorce is an odd combo of quitting and getting laid off and you just take some time and move on. For others, their entire world is turned upside down and they have a bit of a personal crisis. “I know what real pain feels like,” Tarek shares. “If that makes sense.” “Years ago before I knew what pain felt like,” he says. “I look at it now and I’m [like], ‘This is child’s play, this is a walk in the park.’” Suffering is awful, but can bring perspective. “However bad things can be today,” Tarek adds. “I compare them to how they were.” “And,” he vows. “I know it’ll never be like that again.” Back in 2013, the Flip or Flop star was diagnosed with cancer. He had both cancer of the thyroid and testicular cancer. These days, that cancer battle is over. “My doctor, he told me no more tests,” Tarek shared back in March. “And it’s totally clear and I’m cancer free.” “So, that’s some pretty good news,” he expressed. “I feel really, really great.” He also shared why he had to switch to a new medication. “I think it was November, December, January, I was not doing well,” he admitted. “I was really sluggish, and slow, and cloudy, and brain fog,” “I was feeling depressed,” he explained. “I was losing all my hair, so I finally went to my doctor.” “Somehow,” he divulges. “My body wasn’t accepting my thyroid medication.” “What happened was, I became super-hyper thyroid,” he says. “It’s amazing how medication can affect the mind and body,” Tarek marvels. “So I always tell people, if something doesn’t feel right, something’s not right,” he shares. That’s absolutely true. Tarek advises: “You need to go get it checked out.” Tarek is a millionaire, but he’s not shaming people who can’t afford health insurance. There are insured folks — even rich ones — who avoid going to the doctor. Sometimes, they wait until it’s too late. Tarek’s behavior before the end of the El Moussa marriage was cause for alarm. It is wonderful to hear that he is being so mindful these days of his health — physically, mentally, and emotionally. What’s more is that Tarek is using his platform to encourage others to look after their own health. Make sure that your flesh prison is in working order, folks.
