Lil Wayne And Tyga Get ‘Trippy’ For ‘Faded’ Video

‘I still wanted to keep it street and relatable, but I wanted to do something fun and creative,’ Tyga tells MTV News on video set in Miami. Though the Young Money stand-out is still riding high off of his hit single “Rack City,” Tyga Tyga is fast at work, and this week he released the video for his Lil Wayne-assisted single “Faded.” Though the song bangs in the street, the Cali spitter didn’t want to limit his visuals to the block and flexed a bit of artistic muscle for the clip. “It’s crazy. The idea I had for it, I still wanted to keep it street and relatable, but I wanted to do something fun and creative,” Tyga told MTV News in February while on the video set in Miami. Who better to call than director Colin Tilley, who has used quite a bit of impressive visual effects in videos for Chris Brown and Lil Wayne. “As you can see, the setups that we got here is crazy. From the gold setup, to the spinning tunnel, just a bunch of trippy type stuff,” Tyga said. In one scene from the current MTV Jams Jam of the Week, Wayne and Tyga are animated with big heads, similar to the effect popularized by the 1993 arcade game “NBA Jam.” On his album Careless World: Rise of the Last King, Tyga sends poignant messages on songs like “King and Queens,” but “Faded” was really just about a vibe between Wayne and his prot

Katy Perry Says ‘California Gurls’ Video Is ‘All Edible’

‘It’s definitely something to watch when you have the munchies,’ she tells MTV News. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Sway Calloway Katy Perry in “California Gurls” Photo: Capitol There will probably be many good times to watch Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” video, though Perry herself has one particularly interesting suggestion. “It’s definitely something to watch when you have the munchies. … It’s all edible,” she told MTV News. “[Plus,] Snoop is in it.” She’s right too. Judging by the sneak peek we saw a few weeks back, Snoop most definitely is in the “California Gurls” clip — along with marshmallows, candy canes and a whole lot of confectionaries too (most of which are used to cover up Perry and her backup dancers). All in all, it looks like it’s going to be a pretty sweet affair, though, to be honest, there’s not a whole lot about the video that reminds us of California. But, according to Perry, that was sort of the plan all along. “We named it ‘Candyfornia’ instead of ‘California,’ so it’s a different world,” she said. “It’s not just like, ‘Oh, let’s go to the beach and throw a party and then shoot a music video!’ It’s more like, ‘Let’s put us California Gurls in a whole different world!’ ” In keeping with that spirit, even though the song big-ups the beautiful ladies from the West Coast, Perry isn’t about to let her East Coast girls go unloved. In fact, the way she sees it, “California Gurls” can be a bicoastal anthem — you just have to wait for the weather to change in the East. “The boys always dream about dating a California Gurl … just because we’ve got the sun shining 365 days a year,” Perry laughed. “And I love New York girls. I think they’re hot, and I think they have a lot of attitude. But I’m telling you, when it comes wintertime, they’re all gonna be singing ‘California Gurls.’ ” Are you excited for the “edible” video?
