1. French Quarter, New Orleans, La. No other American neighborhood provides as much eye candy as the cobblestone streets of New Orleans#39; French Quarter–known as “the Quarters” to locals–and we#39;re not referring to the annual Mardi Gras parades, with their thousands of taffeta-draped harlequins strutting to funk, RB, and Dixie. No, it#39;s the architecture that#39;s intriguing. Stroll this district, which is bounded by the Mississippi River, Rampart Street and Canal and Esplanade, and you
Wow…accountable police? LAPD Orders Body Cam-Activating Tasers In Effort To Document Incidents In an effort to increase transparency in the current climate of police mistrust , the LAPD is implementing a new documentation method — recording police activity via body cams the moment they turn the safety off on their tasers. Via RawStory : Los Angeles police on Tuesday ordered Tasers that, when used, automatically activate cameras on officers’ uniforms, which will create visual records of incidents at a time of mounting concern about excessive force by U.S. law enforcement officers. The 3,000 new digital Taser X26P weapons record the date, time and duration of firing, and whether Taser wires actually strike suspects and how long the thousands of volts of electricity pulse through them. “This technology gives a much better picture of what happens in the field,” said Steve Tuttle, spokesman for the Scottsdale, Arizona-based Taser International Inc. At a time of nationwide protests over officer killings of unarmed black men, supporters of the new technology say cameras can help resolve officer misconduct cases when there is conflicting evidence. The weapons ordered by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) will be linked via Bluetooth Technology to Taser International’s body cameras, turning on the camera the second the Taser’s safety switch is thrown. In December, L.A. officials announced a plan to equip 7,000 street cops with Taser’s body cameras. With nearly 10,000 officers, the LAPD is the third-largest municipal U.S. police department, after New York City and Chicago. Definitely a step in the right direction! But what does this do about them firing off their GUNS?

I know the Miss Universe competition already happened, but I’m sorry, these pictures of Miss Ukraine Olga Storozhenko are just too hot not to share. I’m not exactly sure why she’s posing in a hotel lobby though. There’s so many people around. So next time Olga wants to take some bikini pictures, she’s more than welcome to shoot at my place. It’s way more private. Just her, the photographer, me, and the thousands of people watching via the webcam I’d “forget” to turn off. I’ll go ahead and schedule her an appointment for next week.
A number of Facebook posts suggesting that Celine Dion is dead, having been killed in a sudden and tragic accident, are making the online rounds. They are not true. And she is not happy about it. The Canadian singer said that the death rumors make her “a little mad” (this isn’t the first time), mostly because of the impact they have on her family. “Sometimes it’s freaky because I have to call my family about it,” she said. “The thing that worries me is my mom. It makes me a little mad – she’s 86 years old.” “I’m not on the phone telling her I’m OK four seconds after it’s on the news… it doesn’t matter what they say, the impact it has on your family is very real.” “I was celebrating the birthday of my twins in Montreal and I was getting these phone calls saying that there was stuff on Facebook that I was dead.” No one “Loved Her Back to Life.” Celine has never been deceased. Dion clarified after the fact that such death hoaxes make her “stay away from that side of things even more,” before adding: “But I’m glad I’m not dead!” One story claimed that she had died in a car crash, while another stated it was a plane crash. Neither is true. Nor was it the first time this has occurred. “Many years ago I [apparently] killed myself in my own garage,” she recalled of hoaxes past. “Don’t ask me why I don’t want to be a part of the showbiz industry!” Guess her heart will go on, because that’s just the way it is (sorry). Bethenny Frankel isn’t sweating Farrah Abraham’s recent appearance on her show and the ensuing trash talk, because in her mind, it’s just what Farrah does. Farrah Abraham on Bethenny If you recall (or if you don’t), Farrah slammed the supposedly unpleasant experience she went through on Bethenny , calling Frankel rude and judgmental . Bethenny, opines Farrah Abraham in her infinite wisdom, “seems to be in a dark place in her life … it was shocking to see how against women she really is.” If Frankel is bothered by the criticism or controversy, she’s not showing it. On the contrary, she says she likes to interview guests like Farrah because of it. “[I like to] have a conversation with someone that I think will show a different side, and a different conversation, and reflect human behavior,” she said. “But a lot of those people are controversial for a reason. They like to be controversial. That’s what their brand is, being controversial and continuing to do that.” Sounds about right, don’t you think? “It the people that are known for that,” she added, “there’s a reason for it, and they leave and they kind of plant seeds so they will grow to make it 15 or 16 minutes.” Please … let it stop at 15. Please. “It’s okay,” Frankel said of the publicity she gets as a result of such people. “I get something out of it, I guess they get something out of it. It is what it is.” Ditto Bethenny and Omarosa . Farrah Abraham on Plastic Surgery Farrah Abraham on Bethenny Clip
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new Miss Universe. Gabriela Isler earned the title tonight during an evening of colorful costumes and elegant gowns in Moscow’s Crocus City Hall. Gabriela Isler Wins Miss Universe 2013 The 25-year old because the seventh Venezuelan to ever take home this honor, receiving the crown after her name was announced by last year’s winner, Olivia Culpo . Thomas Roberts and Melanie Brown hosted the event, while the judges included an unusual mix of stars: Tara Lipinski, Anne V, Philiph Kirov, Carol Alt, Farouk Shami and Steven Tyler. The contest started with 87 women vying to be Miss Universe, though that number was quickly whittled to 16. Isler apparently earned major points for her answer to the question of her biggest fear and how she plans to overcome it, telling Tyler on stage and the thousands in attendance: “We should overcome all our fears and this in turn would make us stronger. As soon as we overcome our fears, we can face any challenge.” Hard to argue with those points, isn’t it? According to her bio on the Miss Universe website, Isler began taking flamenco dance lessons when she was a child. She also considers herself to be a “second mother” to her niece and her values include “being at home” and spending time with “the people she loves.” Her mother is her top role model. Congratulations to Gabriela Isler!
